I did a deep clean of the office room before Christmas. I took out the chairs, straightened the carpet and cleaned under the desks where there is a tangle of wires. While I was under my desk I saw the stool. Gracie (RIP) was a heat seeking missile. She loved to sit on anything warm. That included the battery backup for my computer. She sat on the wrong button once shutting down everything, so I put a stool over the backup. She also slept on floor heating vents. If anything was in her way, she pushed them off.

Mollie with her bunny. Bunny was buried with her. They had a special bond and were lifelong friends.
This isn’t unusual. When Mollie (RIP) joined us so many years ago, she climbed into the toilet to drink. Yikes! That’s not allowed at my house so for 18 years we always put the lid down on all the toilets in the house and badgered guests to do the same.
We have claw marks from Hazel (RIP) who wasn’t supposed to eat kibble. At the time we had other cats who did so we put the kibble on a tall cabinet that Hazel (who was a bit chubby) couldn’t jump up on. When she lost some weight, she managed to get up there leaving claw marks down the front of the cabinet. They are still there even though Hazel isn’t.
With Jake (RIP) we had pee towels. When he got older, he got finicky about the litter box. He didn’t like to pee in it if there was another pee ball already in it. He pooped in it just fine but pee, nope. He liked crumpled fabric instead so I kept an old towel next to the box. Problem solved. I did “Jake pee towel” laundry once or twice a week. One time we had a houseguest who thought that the “pretty” towels in the guest room weren’t to be used so he went in search of old towels. He found the stack of clean Jake pee towels and that’s what he used. The towels were thin and worn from all the bleach. Makes for a great story.
We have three cats now, each with their own story. Sasha sings for her supper (and her breakfast, snacks, lunch, any hope of food). Gus has a love affair with my leg. Morgan carries her blankie (a 6 inch by 8 inch piece of fleece) around with love.
Pets, you gotta love them. Each one is unique.

Each one adds so much. Treasured stories.

All so different. I think of Mollie every time I look at a toilet seat!

Awh! Love your cats ❤️ Truly precious, each one of them. Yes, pets are such a blessing and they stay in our hearts forever! 💕 Love the little quirks they have. Lassie, our Sheltie, loved bread! She could tell if you were opening a loaf of bread and she would be by your side in an instant.
Lily, our Yorkie, would make sounds like a pig. LOL! And Katy, our shih-tzu from years ago was the only dog we ever had that insisted on lying down to eat her food. Pets are funny and we love them so much!

If she’s a younger cat I’d say definitely. If she is 20 yrs. old she may not want to adjust.

Hahaha to Gracie shutting down your entire system! Louis Catorze once sat on my laptop and booked me an Ocado delivery slot. And I have a friend whose cat rolled on her iPhone and in doing so, ordered a second iPhone.

She’s the only cat that did that. She was surrendered to the shelter with a kitten but she had to be someone’s pet. She instinctively knew how to maneuver around the house (and boss everyone). I tried to adopt the kitten too but it had already been adopted by a little boy who came in just ahead of me.

Sweet remembrances about our dearly departed pets and that’s what keeps them in our hearts forever. I am sure your heart skipped a beat and a tear leaked out when you saw that stool.

Gracie’s passing is fresh so yes. Mega sobs actually. She was my buddy always by my side when I was on the computer. Gus is working hard to take that place.

Hugs to you – I thought it might be tough seeing that stool. It has only been since early October that you lost Gracie. Gus is definitely a ladies man. 🙂

Time flies so fast. As I was looking for pictures of everyone, it seemed like just yesterday that all of these cats were here doing their best to annoy me. We didn’t have Gracie long enough. Then again we never knew how old she was when we adopted her.

You remind me. I have a couple of those plastic thing that direct the heat into the room. I couldn’t have them in use as Zoe (RIP) moved theme off because those were her favorite vents. And I bought Stasis a Litter MAID box because she would great me at the door after work doing the dance of there’s something in my box because she wouldn’t pee with a pee clump in the box. She hated the expensive toy even worse and happened to be in my arms when an electrical flicker happened one morning. I had to call a friend for more bandaids.
I hope everyone enjoys their Miss Gracie memories. They really all are unique individuals.
Now to find those vent covers.

Gracie is the only cat who slept on them but she loved heat. Hazel slept on them only in the summer when cold air was coming out!

We lost Barney in 2005, so some years before I started blogging. I lasted 6 days before we went looking for another dog and came home with Maggie. She was two months shy of her 16th birthday when we lost her in November 2020.

I’m focused on “downsizing” my pets. We are in our 70s so could easily outlive any new young ones. We walked through our mall last weekend and a rescue was there with cats to adopt. It took everything not to “just” walk by.

Sweet post, Kate♥ I remember each one. I don’t remember Gracie’s stool. They are all missed and it is lovely to read about them today. Photos are always a treat. I will continue to read about the current Sassy Cats that have their unique stories and personalities. It would be a joy to read some of the many stories you mention. Thank you for this special Sassy Cat Friday.

The little stool (or foot stool) over the battery back up kicked off some reminiscing. I miss them all.

I remember all your cats. You wrote about Hazel losing weight then able to jump up like an athlete with a tail. And Mollie and Jake.
And of course the one and only Gracie Crimmins who could have been the next Oprah.
My heart lifted as well as ached remembering them. 🙂

Sniffles for the the stool. Not surprised the littlest kitty loved the heat. Bat Cat was the same way. She figured out how to turn on the electric blanket when I took her to New Hampshire.

What precious stories – they are amazing little critters – they ARE each incredibly unique and if you’re “tuned in” you see that and get a smile or two from it. Most of my cats have been at least 75% predictable in their behavior…..but it’s the other 25% of unpredicable behavior that has made my love of cats so very HUGE in my heart and soul.
Hugs, Pam

It is that amazing 25% that keeps you in giggles (or in Jake’s case, pee towels). There are so many more stories. Jake was astounded to find out that the front door and back door opened into the same house. If he was in the front and wanted to inside, he’s go around the back until the day I didn’t want to walk around the house yet again and put him in the front door.

Yes, when Gus had his surgery, he got meds around the clock every 3 hours. I didn’t need an alarm. I woke up right on time. Some sixth sense going on.
