Morgan – “I sniffed out another mouse this week! I would have caught it but Gracie was IN-DA-WAY. Even Kate didn’t get it on the first try. I kept an eye out though and we caught it a little later. Kate took it outside. I wanted to keep it to play”
Hazel – “I’m on this stupid DIE-t. Scales don’t move. I think it’s broke. They gave me diet cat food. Tastes like cardboard. I have learned how to jump three inches higher so I can eat Mollie’s food. She needs help with that.”
Mollie – “I’ve been enjoying retirement. No mouse watching for me. If only I could keep Hazel out of my food, life would be perfect.”
Gracie – “They tell me that I’m IN-DA-WAY.” I don’t know what it is but everybody gets all yowlery. Yesterday I was scooted away. Can you imagine that? No one scoots Gracie.”
Always get to hear from the crowd there.

No one scoots Gracie? I’d like to know what happens when one scoots Gracie!

It doesn’t last. She is right back INDAWAY.

So… you’ve got the cats doing a little light mousekeeping now? I can’t believe a mouse would dare show a whisker with all those cats around.

I couldn’t either. First time since we moved here 14 years ago that we’ve had mice.

Must have been a young mouse. I’d think an adult mouse would know better.

Well over the last month there were 7 young mice in our house!

Still getting mice – oh my! Time for an exterminator yet?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Almost. We got a recommendation from a friend for an electronic device that emits high pitch noise that rodents don’t like. She had a lot more mice than we do and it worked for her. We put it in the day we found the last mouse. If we get another one, it’s time for an exterminator. With cats, I don’t want bait or snap traps. Another thought is to get a baby book and start naming them. 🙂

Three days miceless so far!

Don’t do that because then you’ll have to keep them.

That’s true. Then there is mouse food, mouse toys and mouse litter boxes to consider.

mix them in with the hurricane shelter animals and let those people worry about fostering them?

They are cuties and mostly good. We are very lucky to be blessed with cats that get along just fine.

Next thing you know, someone’ll be trying to put Gracie in a corner!
The nerve.

I wondered if anyone would pick up on that. 🙂 No one puts Gracie in a corner.

Hazel, I feel you. I’m stuck in my weight loss efforts as well. Thankfully I can make my food not taste like cardboard, but it’s not chocolate cake either.

But does it taste like tuna?

IN-DA-WAY Gracie… Hahaha! You tell them Gracie… I know you have lots to say! Hazel I understand, I have not been able to drop one pound but I have to admit I have not been working too hard. I can’t stay away from CH’s semolina bread with buttah on it! Love the update today… 🙂

Semolina bread? *mouth watering* I just put on 2 lbs. fantasizing about it.

Look at Morgan’s expression! We have a Wednesday and Pugsley pair that sometimes look at each other that way. I have fun making up little cat conversations to go along with their expressions.
The good thing about Hazel’s diet is it sounds like she’s getting exercise (the extra jumping) before she eats, so maybe she’ll lose weight even if she doesn’t eat the low calorie cardboard stuff.

I’m at wit’s end with Hazel and her diet. Her vet appointment is coming up in a few months. I was hoping she’d drop a pound or two.

I wasn’t aware that cats could retire… what exactly do they retire from?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Mouse catching, insect stalking, clearing counters of stuff. Hazel specializes in reupholstery. No one puts a coat of fur on furniture like she does. Unfortunately, she hasn’t retired yet.
