It’s me Sasha the magnificent! (Also known as Sashki, Sanoosh and Get Down! She tried to name me No but I totally ignore that.)
The peep took pictures of me this week (to update my model portfolio). This first one is of me taking a nap in “the basket.” The peep has had that basket for 40 years (yes, she’s an old fart!). RIP Magic was the first cat that slept there but there was a parade of many. It’s comfy with a nice cushion and almost always in a sunspot. For the winter there is a heating pad underneath making it a prime target for Gus and (RIP) Gracie. The peep says I must be a post-menopausal cat because I get hot. If I nap in there during the winter, it’s only for a while. Then I must sprawl out on the cold floor to cool down. Gus and Gracie didn’t have that issue. It was never a favorite of (RIP) Morgan but there is a long list of RIP cats that loved it.
The weather warmed up this week, and the sliding door was open. I was sniffing the great outdoors when the peep took this one. We have bird feeders on the deck for bird TV. I love getting a good sniff. They smell like feathers and dirt. My favorite smells.
The ants have been back at our feeding dishes, so we play hide and seek with our food spots. We only get a short time to eat before the peep scoops up the dishes. It puts pressure on Gus to clean up fast. He’s a slow eater. He’s doing his best. We hope they go away soon. No pictures of those critters!
Have a great weekend.

We all have a whole slew of names, like you.
How luxurious to have a heating pad in your basket. We also have a heating pad. Our heating pad is called – Mummy (mol)!

I like your “alternative” names……but a heating pad in your basket! What comforts you have – you are one spoiled cat!

Hey Sash, sorry I’m a little late.
This business about being hot means pre-menopausal. I beg to differ. You live with the George Clooney of felines. No wonder you’re hot. Gus is one sexy dude.

I never thought of that! Hubba hubba!

Oh Sasha, it’s not easy being beautiful. The demands of having having your photo can be exhausting, but we appreciate the struggle.
Happy Easter and Happy Bird Watching!

I know. They want these photo shoots all the time! I have to be sure my fur is fluffed. Exhausting!

It must be all that fur heating you up Sasha – I’ll bet that one place where you were shaved for your procedure is not hot?!

Most of it is pretty grown in. We have to sacrifice to be gorgeous all the time! The peep says that the fur insulates me from hot and cold. What does she know. Even the fur on her head is thinning!

The sacrifices we make are overwhelming sometimes Sasha – I feel for you, really I do. You have a lot of fur and it keeps you from getting too warm or cold … can I borrow some as we are on a weather rollercoaster? Tomorrow it will be cold again – sigh. I thought of the Peep this morning – I saw my first little ant, almost two weeks early, likely because of the very warm weather and three bouts of torrential rain. Annoying. The little ant was the least of my worries as some 12 hours later I hurried down to the basement at 6:15 p.m. when the tornado sirens went off for a full five minutes in our city. A little too close for comfort. I’m happy if it stays cooler and we can avoid all this weather whiplash and stressful weather, our fourth bout in one week’s time. I bought myself a chocolate bunny for Easter … almost ate it, but no, I’ll wait until Easter and be mature.

The peep says that when you live by yourself you don’t have to be mature. Go eat the bunny, the chocolate one!

The peep is right Sasha – I polished it off this morning and was happy I didn’t have to share it with anyone!

Nice photos of your angels and I love that tongue shot of Gus. Sorry about the ants.

Gus rarely sticks his tongue out so that was a great opportunity!

We tried this to keep ants out of our cat’s food. We put her dish in a pie pan with a little water covering the bottom, and the ants stayed away. All our cats but that one eat their meals promptly.

I have to try that. It’s so annoying. It’s usually for a very short time in the spring that they invade!

Sasha, the basket looks like a great place to nap. Cute photos.

It’s very comfy and the peep bought a new fleece to line it.

Great observations about the Sassy Cat’s love of the Sassy Cat’s basket… or not. Love the tongue out/raspberry/blep photo of Gus. Mollie, such a girlie girl🩷
Sasha, your first photo is a perfect portfolio shot. Well done on the Sassy Cat’s Friday post! But the ants are not welcome.

Those ants were hanging around waiting for my dinner too. The peep scooped them up and put them in the trash!

Love that ‘the basket’ continues to provide comfort and solace for all the kitties of the house. We hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend and more signs of spring emerge. Without the ants though. 😉

Our yo-yo weather is at least getting respectable — going from mid to high 40s to mid to high 70s. Much better then the 20s stuff. Things are bursting in bloom. Really lifts my spirits! Except for those ants!

Ants are such a pesky nuisance. Here’s hoping you can ‘encourage’ them to take up quarters elsewhere.

I love the continuity of the basket. Always a delight to see your fluffy self. Various creatures in this household have been are referred to as “demon spawn” in one breath and “precious angel baby” in the next.

Thanks. Your picture reminds me of a cat I rescued. He was subsequently homed but I think of him often and wonder how he’s doing. I so wanted to keep him but I had 4 at the time and was moving.

I have a similar looking basket that we keep by the fireplace for matches/newspaper, etc. which MIGHT fit Ted but then again it would be a tight fit. Ted likes to “sprawl” too so that would be a problem. He’s actually happy just lying in some favorite spots around the house – legs in all directions, snoring…….I say as long as they are happy WE are happy right? I love that older photo of the lovers – that was Gus’s expression of disdain at disturbing them while they were cuddling I suppose!!
Hugs, Pam (and Teddy)

It’s a very large basket that has survived generations of cats. Sasha and Gus can be sprawlers too and Gus snores. Cats are so funny when they sleep. Morgan slept so soundly that I would startle her if I came into the room. They have a lot of other beds too. Gus is on the window ledge bed right now and I think Sasha is in the upstairs bedroom cat bed. Whatever makes them happy.

We’ve had waves of them since February. The kitchens are gone but the cat food area cropped up this week. I’m also hoping they go outside soon. Seems like when it warms up they want to come inside!
