It’s the peep today. Sasha is at the spa getting her fur fluffed.
This week I had a minor medical procedure done by a new doctor in a new place. There was no reason to be anxious, but I was. Afterward I came home and slept for several hours. When I woke up there were two happy faces tucked in next to me communicating that I was just fine. It warmed my heart and made me smile. I’m not sure how people cope without pets.
However (there is always a but!), all is not always calm. One evening this week, Sasha was literally bouncing off walls and careening around corners on her belly. I haven’t seen her move this fast since she was young. She doesn’t do anything fast except hide from visitors and steal food.
My first thought was that a mouse was loose in the house but Gus was calmly sitting on the top of the sofa. He jumped down (slowly) to investigate. If it had been a mouse, they both (along with Morgan who was nowhere to be found) would have been bouncing off walls, knocking over stuff.
It was a fly. If it was anything else, I would have felt sorry for the critter but not a fly. It probably was snacking in the litter box before coming upstairs to contaminate the house. Sasha pummeled it and that was that! End of fly. All of us settled down to watch TV.
Then we argued about what to watch with the cats preferring a nature station and the peeps wanting NCIS. Peeps won. Opposable thumbs and control of the remote win out every time.
Have a great flyless weekend!

Glad she took care of that fly for you! Even though she still didn’t get to watch her nature program 🙂 Also glad the medical procedure went OK and you got some cat therapy afterwards!

Mum and I are glad your procedure went well. It’s good to have on site medical caretakers.

You are so lucky to have such cuddly help to feel better (and, I assume, so you’ll be able to use your opposable thumbs).

I am always amazed that they know when to cuddle up. It’s not an everyday thing.

Cats are always there when needed whether it be as a nurse or a fly catcher. Have you seen NCIS: Tony and Ziva? We are loving that.

I haven’t seen the new show yet. We are going through the old shows through Netflix. Love no commercials. Eventually we’ll get to Tony and Ziva.

It looks like you as well as Morgan got a little cuddle and TLC this week. Fur friends and family are just as important as human friends and family as you have demonstrated here!

They are more instinctive than most people.

Yes, I believe that as well. People often don’t credit animals and birds for their insight into their owner’s feelings.

Feline nursemaids! I love it! No flies here but I did kill two wasps? inside the house the past few days and I wonder how they are getting in?

They can get in through tiny places. We used to get them in our screened porch. We finally figured out they were coming in through two very small drain holes built into the wood framing at ground level. We plugged them up and no more wasps.

Thanks Kate! As long as they’re not hibernating in a nest under the siding like they did 7 years ago which required the exterminator……

Cats come into our lives for a reason. I believe they know very wise things we aren’t aware of. And I am thankful for the cats that spent their lives with us. They made such a difference in our lives. Such joy when you woke up and two Sassy Cats were there to to warm your heart.

I think people without cats must lead very dreary lives. My 17 YO calico was on the counter chasing the light reflection from my tablet on the ceiling. When it moved farther away she promptly flew across the room with nary a fear, but that was fine – all the fear was in me. She’s just skin and bones and I couldn’t fathom her making the jump from the counter to the table. But she did it and never doubted herself. I finally moved my seat so the sun wasn’t reflecting off the tablet. I couldn’t stand the anxiety. She was disappointed.

They knew you needed some TLC! Great shot of you and one nursemaid. I am impressed that Sasha could get that pesky fly. Cheers for the weekend!

I thought so. Next week it’s the colonoscopy and then we are done for a couple months. Enough medical stuff already!

Maya hates them too and now that the colder evenings are here, the fly curtain at the door has been removed so they come in.

ha!! Do they chase the red dot too? Maya will chase after the reflection fro my watch on the ceiling and walls. It’s quite funny to see her pounce on it!

We don’t have the red dot right now. Morgan loves the watch reflection. She wants her own watch!

Oh, the flies are fabulous entertainment when there is no mouse to be had. Also less mess in corpse disposal.

I suspect someone ate it as I couldn’t find it afterwards.

I’m glad you got through your procedure and had attentive helpers. That’s marvelous that a cat could take down an airborne fly. I can’t remember any of our cats ever doing anything useful, other than delighting us.

My cats can be useful — fur dispersal throughout the house, help me keep in shape hauling cat food around and the occasional mouse or bug catching.

Great photos all around! You all look like you just came from Sasha’s spa, fluffed fur, nice hairdo and all. And hey, a fly once in a while helps beat the kitty crazies.

That was the most exercise Sasha has gotten in a month! I was fearful it was a mouse because last time, they just about trashed the place trying to get it.

Great photo of you and Morgan AND the two nursemaids. They “just know” when something is up with us – I love that about them. Glad you are OK and have a healthcare crew in place. I have one large nurse who will be happy to be back home since we are back from our brief vacation. Ted will pout for a while but forgive us in the end. Cats are priceless in EVERY way.
Hugs, Pam
