Sassy cats – Transitioning

It’s the peep today. Since losing Gracie a few weeks ago, our Sassy Cats Friday post has been rudderless. We need to restructure to go forward.

Here is Sasha telling Gus about her plans for a beauty blog.

I suggested having the cats audition and got a lot of eye rolls. Sasha wants to turn it into a beauty blog with tips on how to sway your hips and bat your lashes. She wants to get paid. In treats. Lots of treats. She also wants a swag bag with fun stuff every week. She is very high maintenance. It doesn’t seem like a good idea.

Morgan doing Olympic box sitting!

Morgan wants to go with an extreme sports edition. She wants a photo shoot with her sleeping on the top of the cat tree and all four feet hanging over. Or perhaps leaping onto a forbidden counter in one swoop without knocking anything off. She may have some other ideas up her paw.

Gus, outfitted in a Sherlock Holmes outfit complete with pipe, is thinking of a weekly murder mystery. Who killed the mousie? Who killed the spider? How did that cricket get in the house? I suggested that perhaps he’d run out of ideas in a month or two and he’d need a segue. He didn’t know what a segue is so maybe not a murder mystery series.

Gus in the office window bed.

Since Gracie is gone, Gus has assumed the role of office cat, sleeping in the bed by the window and being generally annoying. He did it quietly and consistently so if I can talk him off of the murder mystery idea, he may give it a try. He’s a bit of a “player” with the ladies so we’ll see how it goes. You may get to meet Izzie, the next door lady cat whose butt he finds fascinating. This is a PG blog so I’ll try to rein him in. No promises though.

We all wish you a great weekend. Tune in next week to see how this plays out. All suggestions are welcome!

  1. I think of you peeps and the kitties often. It’s kind of funny, this time last year I was just hoping to get Zoe through the holidays. I guess that means we’re coming up to our one year anniversary. I still see her around the house. Not like ghost-Zoe, more of an expectation of seeing her and for a second I see her in a shadow or on the sofa. Not as often, these days, but I miss her.

Hugs to the peeps and the kitties. I hope you all are well. I look forward to reading about all your adventures.

  2. Kate, I think it will just work out. I do think it is nice that Gus is in your office and has assumed the role of Office Cat. Gus may have found his niche. Gus is a manly cat… seeing life through his thoughts and eyes might be quite interesting.

  3. All very good ideas! Maybe they could all rotate and take turns? Gracie had those good investigative reporting instincts that is going to be hard to replace, though. Ah, she is missed.

  4. How about rotating guest posters? I’m sure they’ll all find great things about which to purr. Then again, you could do something like Elsa and Wilson’s tenuous relationship about life. Whatever you guys do, we know it’ll be great.

  5. all very adorable. I love them all but am especially partial to the one in the box as my boy Adso also loves boxes (from B & B Ws also)! Thanks for sharing!

  6. Fast-forward a few months: I am besotted with “Kiki” since she has moved in, followed me everywhere, convinced the terrified (also feral) dog that they are now best friends, and shared her abundant CRAZY spells, which give me both energy and awe. She is a gift from the universe.

  7. Happy to stumble over your stories. After several years of “I can’t go through this again!” I opened the back door to find a tiny, emaciated, screeching, black feral kitten with no tail. She YELLED at me repeatedly to make the point that I was HER human, and I had no say in the matter.

  8. I know that “rudderless” feeling…..but in your case you have a VERY interesting dynamic with your kitties and I think they will supply you with all sorts of material! Life (even with big changes) brings surprises every day – and usually at least one funny thing thrown into the mix. I think you will find your rudder right around the next corner. Truly.

    Big Hugs, Pam

  9. Aw…I know it was challenging when I stopped fostering and my blog had to change too. Play with ideas and you’ll find what works eventually!

  10. We all miss Gracie Kate. Transitioning time is hard on everyone so it will be interesting to see who comes up to the mark. Sasha’s beauty parlour might be a bit one sided, Morgan is so laid back she’d fall off the cushion as she dictated her piece, and Gus may well ruffle Sasha’s fur if he wrote about Izzie. Maybe rotation or a three paw effort, so we shall indeed see.
