I’ve been known to sing that song to Gus. He told me to keep my day job (which is serving the cats). Here is what’s going on this week. Gus and Sasha have a sort of truce/friendship. She doesn’t snarl at him and he does his best to look submissive when she gets bitchy. However he will give her a smack down if necessary. Gracie taught him that.
Here he is a few minutes later feeling mighty good about himself!
I’d say he’s doing just fine!
Everyone here wishes you all a great weekend and for those of you in the US, have a great Labor Day weekend!
Setting limits makes a better friendship.
GO Gus! (and such good taste in tunes!)

Yup, seems like he’s navigated the pecking order well.

Morgan did the same thing with Jake. She would defer to him at the beginning. Then when she was sure we weren’t taking her back, she stood her ground but always respectfully. Jake was an old cat at that point.

Meeting somewhere in the middle – it works better for cats than it does for politicians!!

I think he’s happy here. He comes up to snuggle in the evening although he is not a fan of getting picked up. He doesn’t claw anything except the carpet. All good.

Oh good! He is such a handsome boy 🙂 Glad to hear he is coming in for snuggles – that is always so nice!

Love the Paul Simon title – Hop on the Bus Gus! I hope he enjoys your singing to him!

My singing gets mixed reviews. Now sure what it means when the cat leaves the room. 🙂

The new kid on the block Gus shows some spunk! You have a great Labor Day weekend too Kate.

He is not at all an alpha cat preferring to avoid conflict but he’s not a doormat either.

Glad Gus is doing well. Thank you for the kind words you left on my blog for the loss of Polar Bear.

I lost Mollie this year. It doesn’t matter how many you have each one is a painful loss.

He is settling in well, despite Sasha staring haughtily down at him!

Yes. He’s figured out how to handle her!

Glad he is fitting in. If I sing around my cat he gives me a look that tells me to stop:) Have a good Labor Day weekend.

I used to have cat that walked on the keyboard if I played the piano. I don’t know if that was good or bad.

Me too. I’m always anxious adding a new pet to the group.

I didn’t realize it was Labor Day weekend until yesterday. Half the neighbors are going away, so there won’t be a big celebration. Hope you have a great weekend.
I always enjoy your posts about the cats.

Labor Day always sneaks up on me. I’m enjoying the summer and bam, it’s over! The weather is going to be great. Not too hot and no rain. I’ll get to see some friends hopefully. I enjoy giving you your “cat fix.”

Yes! Love that cat fix! I missed the cat that walks with us this morning. If she sees us, she runs up to be petted and walks with us for a little while.

Gus is learning FAST. And he is fitting right in…knows when to clobber a den mate.

I sing songs to my pets, too, changing all the lyrics to match their names. Boss Cat turns her back on me dismissively every time.
The dog loves it, though.

Gracie is teaching him to cat! He has beautiful eyes and the sweetest baby face. Top picture… looks like Sasha is ready to rumble. Enjoy the holiday weekend and get in lots of quality porch time!

Sasha is always ready to rumble. This week she has been especially “rumbly” going after all the cats at different times. Even Morgan who is twice as tall had to smack her down. Not sure what’s going on with her but I’m trying to give her more attention.

Could just be some misdirected crankiness over the addition of Gus. You are a pro at figuring out cat dynamics. She will settle.

That’s what I think it is. She is used to being the center of attention and she’s not happy when she isn’t. If Gus sits on my lap, she will race over and almost lay on top of him in an effort to fit on my lap. That’s 26 lbs. of cat. I need a bigger lap.

Looks fine to me! Enjoy the weekend, Kate. We’re dropping down into the low to mid 80’s…fall is around the corner.

They have a track in the house that they run in. Sometimes I fear they will both miss a corner and fly into a wall.
