What? There’s a chipmunk here! Can I play with it? Open the door! Here Chippie, Chippie, Chippie….I’ll be your friend. Let’s have lunch!Gotta see if my friend the chickadee is around.Hope you get to spend some time with your friends.
I have never had a chipmunk visit our home base, but Zena chases the squirrels all day long. I don’t think she thinks of them as friends. Your cats are apparently more evolved to the idea of species cooperating in friendship. š Adorable photos!
Happens to me a lot too. I won’t order until I know what everyone is ordering. Nothing worse than getting a salad when someone is getting wonderful fried potatoes!
Love the stare-down pictures! That chipmunk understands the power the glass wall gives him. He’s saying “C’mon. Eat me. I dare you!” Your cat is looking into a glass case and trying to decide what he wants to eat. The rodent? Or the bowl of kibble you set out for him?
We don’t have chipmunks around here so I still look on them as being cute… not the destructive creatures they probably are. I probably would have had my nose pushed up against the glass watching it too.
I think they are cute too. We get more damage (chewed wires) from field mice but chipmunks and squirrels can both chew through wires and other stuff. They are funny in the summer. We have a screened porch. They will run around the 3 sides of the screening with a cat following them on the inside. I think it’s their way of giving our cats exercise!
I do too. Jake used to keep the population down. This year we had dozens running around. None of our cats are outdoor cats now. They watch through the glass or screen.
Jake brought one in about two years ago. Quite the commotion. I got it isolated in our office but it took a half hour to catch and put out. Fortunately this was when Jake didn’t have teeth so it was healthy, just scared. The other cats had their nose pressed against the glass doors between the foyer and the office. They thought it was so unfair to oust their new buddy.

I think the luncheon invitation extended by my cat was more along the lines of “Silence of the Lambs.”

Chipmunks are fearful little creatures, for good reason. I’m mean, we can all see the cat licking his lips. š

There was a luncheon invitation going on. They know the cats can’t get out so they enjoy taunting them.

Definitely the rodent! They move more than the kibble.

That chipmunk is classic. Look out, though, you might find a stash of sunflower seeds in your wall.

They have a large condo village under our screened porch. I expect sunflower seeds are holding up the porch.

Would have preferred to have the chipmunk in focus but you take what you get!

Actually, the depth of field with chipmunk out of focus is nice.

Great photo. Chipmunks are cute, but oh. so. destructive. Glad he was on the outside of the door.

LOL here. I can imagine how unfair it seemed to the cats. Clearly humans are not to be trusted. š

No chipmunks? I’d ship you some but there’s probably a law against it. They are like squirrels and like to chew things that are best not chewed.
