Sassy cats — Birthdays and all that

It’s the peep today. Sasha is busy cleaning her fluffy pantaloons and the other two are in their post-breakfast nap not to be confused with their pre-lunch snooze. There a moment where the eye opens and then closes to define the difference.

We had a new front door installed this week which meant that Sasha had to spend a day under the bed. She spends so much time there that she’s thinking of getting “under bed” furniture. Perhaps with a tropical theme and a catnip bar?

Gus with stuffed cupcake

We use Chewy for cat food and litter deliveries and all the cats are registered there. Morgan got a birthday card from them this week with a birthday coupon. Morgan is long past the playing stage (unless it involves whomping one of the other two on the head) so I cruised the site and found something for Gus. He is the only one who actively plays with “stuff.” The other two like catnip but won’t chase anything.

I selected a stuffed cupcake with a candle on top. It was cute in the picture but I couldn’t tell how big it was. It’s for a cat so how big can it be? Well, it’s large. Gus can barely get it in his mouth. It’s difficult to carry it and holler but he’s trying.

Morgan checking out the new arrangement.

The other bit of excitement was an office window rearrangement, relocating the cat grass to the counter under the window. The front box window (its former home) gets too much sun and was drying out the grass too fast. Sometimes changes are not popular but this one was a good move. Right on target, Sasha who isn’t a big fan of cat grass, ate some and promptly threw up her breakfast. The other two are in bliss. What more can I ask for.

I have to go clean up barf but wishing you all a great weekend!

          • We have had heavy rains all day with two or three rainy days to follow – that’ll bring the rest of the crowd inside for sure. I might need mosquito netting to wrap around me. I got bitten yesterday by something yesterday – I’m hoping it wasn’t the spider that is still at large.

              • Well I hope yours don’t return, but if you’re missing them, I’ll pack some up to send to you. Actually, it has been worst in the past and I’ll deal with them as long as the rain doesn’t bring the dreaded centipedes and spiders!

                  • Today was NOT a good day as to the ants, no doubt from yesterday’s all day rain and we have more rain tonight/tomorrow – ugh. I’ve killed dozens and I have a bite on my hip from the other day and about 15 minutes ago I was sitting here minding my business and I felt the same little pinch I felt the other day (in the place I got the bite) and I lifted up my sweater and plucked one of them from around my ribcage. Hopefully not another bite. Sigh.

                    • I don’t know, but I am not surprised as I see them on the ceiling and they drop down onto the bed. There is no way I can prevent that from happening. Even if I put an extra sheet over the comforter, if they fall onto the floor, they will crawl up the legs of the bed. I didn’t have them bad last year and hoped this was over. So far, only a few in the kitchen, so that’s good but lots in the bathroom and my bedroom … all same side of the house. Nothing on the other side or the living room.

                    • Now that is bizarre. I figure it is because I have river rock and sidewalk on the no-ants side and mulch on the other side, but nothing scientific in that reasoning.

  1. Happy Birthday to Morgan! That’s a cute toy. I love when they carry a toy around and holler at the same time. Scout does that with an ice cream cone toy. Hope you have a great weekend.

  2. Happy Birthday to Morgan! Gus will find a way with the cupcake… I want a real cupcake now. The cat grass looks pretty healthy. Our Z Cat never ate grass. I thought that was odd. Our other cats all ate grass which was followed by barfing. Wishing the cats a barf free weekend!

  3. If you get “under the bed” furniture for Sasha you may never see her again!! Although she’d still probably come out to snuggle with Gus, or she might lure him under the bed for good too.
