Sasha here today. Giving the peep a break. She’s been wacko this week. First the ants. I don’t know what the big deal is. They are tasty little morsels, but she squishes them rather than eat them. A little fricassee would be good.
Then there was the cable snipping. We had a stranger (I had to hide under the bed the whole time!) invade my space to hook up fire sticks and teach the peeps how to stream.
When it comes to techie stuff the peeps don’t engage more than three brain cells. It was a long and painful afternoon. I required extra treats afterward. The lady peep had a drink. The male peep played guitar. Gus and Morgan took a snooze after sniffing everything. The techie guy has a dog and cat, so he smelled. He showed pictures. Our peep never shows anyone our pictures!
The peeps need to figure out how to watch a previous day’s Jeopardy so they can fast forward through the commercials. That’s the gold standard test for the peeps. If they get at least two or three answers correct, we know that their synapses are snapping. If not, it’s off to memory care at the nursing home.
We had a close call this week. One of the rescues put out a call to either adopt or foster an older cat whose peep went into nursing care. She is about Morgan’s age (12) and wasn’t doing well in the shelter. The peep gets all teary-eyed about these things. We cats thought we have enough residents now. Supposing the new cat would want to be Empress? I would have to interview her first and maybe smack her down. She was snapped up. According to the peep, she was beautiful and declawed. We don’t endorse that, but it makes a cat more adoptable (so they say). We dodged that bullet.
The peep is downsizing everything including cats so technically, Gracie’s spot isn’t available, but you know the peep. Then there is the Cat Distribution System where one just turns up. So far, we’ve found homes for those, but you never know.
Have a great weekend.

Oh my goodness – that was a Krazy week for sure! I’m glad all the techie stuff worked out 🙂 Sasha, I have some news for you on the picture front. Your peep shows pictures of all of you to the whole world!!

That’s good! The world is a better place with more pictures of me in it! 🙂

I know just how hard streaming tech can be-give your parents some time, I’m sure they’ll be Jeopardy watching champs with a little practice. Glad there was a happy ending on the kitty who needed a new home. It’s always heartwarming when there’s a happy ending for the pet in particularly.

They haven’t figured out how to tape Jeopardy yet. They can watch it live but they are allergic to commercials! 🙂

Google it…they’ll find a remedy.

That’s the first thing I did but my screen doesn’t look like the instructions. We are missing something.

Different screens could be from what device you’re viewing it from. Phone, computer, iPad, laptop-they all always look differently. Good luck.

We’ll get there eventually.

Well, Sasha, it looks like you have everything under control. And ants are gross! But, maybe they have protein…

I eat them if I see them!

Thanks for the “insiders scoop” on the week Sasha…..never a dull moment when it comes to humans that’s for sure. And they worry about the strangest things don’t they! Well one thing you shared is fab and that’s the senior lady cat who needed a new home and got it – always makes me (and my Mom) happy to hear news like this. Hang in there……it’s what we cats do…..wait for the next panic attack and keep cool and calm as examples to the humans!
Hugs, Teddy

I haven’t watched Jeopardy in years (no TV), but I did not do well on it when I watched it, maybe because I am not an old movie buff, or a history buff, or … well, maybe I just was not smart enough. I usually figured out Wheel of Fortune so redeemed myself there. I do Wordle every day but I think my longest streak was 17 or 18. I’d be lost using the new TVs. I’d better keep it simple and just stream stuff from Amazon from the laptop. I have heard of firesticks, but am clueless otherwise. Sasha is a good reporter and I laughed at “The techie guy has a dog and cat, so he smelled. He showed pictures. Our peep never shows anyone our pictures!” Show her your blog!

She wanted me to show the guy her picture on my cell, just like he was doing. I rarely do that. The new TVs are very different. They are also like computers with a learning curve. The techie show us how to record a show and it’s not working for us. We must be missing a step.

Like showing off your kids’ pics. 🙂 Remember years ago people used to carry around “brag books” in their purse or briefcase to show others their kids/family members. I just dated myself. I would have some serious issues with today’s TVs and setting up to record. My Windows 11 laptop has an audio issue and it is making a crackling sound if I watch a video (news or weather on YouTube) and when doing French lessons. I researched what to do and uninstalling one driver, putting in a new driver from the manufacturer’s website seems daunting to me, but I need to deal with it soon. It’s still under warranty as I got it in July, so perhaps HP will troubleshoot with me. Sigh. After I have praised up HP products for years and this one has issues. I have three old HP laptops (one bought in 2009) which have no issues at all but I could no longer use them on some sites, including WordPress – this new one had to have issues.

I have an HP desktop now but I’ve had good luck with Dell too. Every company has lemons.

Yes, that is true. I’ve had some bad experiences with Dell desktops; one was with a screen resolution issue (it looked like an hourglass on the screen) – they replaced it twice after I sent it back to them twice (and it was the old-fashioned monitor that looked like a TV, not a thin plasma monitor, so it was awkward to pack/mail) and it still didn’t work, so I just got a new plasma monitor. Then I did a Service Pack 2 update and the desktop computer crashed. I had Geek Squad come to the house to look at it and they tore it apart for two hours and said it could not be repaired. I have to troubleshoot this week for both driver issues and not looking forward to either of them.

Good job reporting. If you lived near me, I would tell my friend about the cat needing a home. She always adopts declawed ( she would not have it done though).

My friend in rescue says that they go fast. Most people don’t do it anymore but an older declawed cat is usually an easy fit.

It’s tough hearing about situations like that. My cat Scout had that happen. Her previous owner went into the hospital and had to give her up. Good update Sasha and the photos are cute. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hi, Sasha – Great post. But one correction. “Our peep never shows anyone our pictures!” Not true. She frequently shows your pictures in the blogisphere — and you are all adorable!

I’m facing the reality that these cats will be my last. It’s very sad. But adopting and older cat seems like a winning solution to having a full house.

I’m downsizing my cat population, ideally to two. Morgan is around 12-13 so it won’t happen anytime soon (hopefully). My heart gets torn when I hear sad stories of cats who are less likely to be adopted for various reasons.

When we lived in East Germany, we got ants. Our tomcat ate them too. I got rid of them by putting backing powder into their way into the appartment.

We just got rid of the Hotwire (HotMess) guys. We were suppose to have two high speed routers but they didn’t give them to us when they set it up in Februaury. All is good now! Hope your Peeps get things worked out. There are days when I truly feel like an old person 🙂
I am so glad the kitty was snapped up! That was some news… thank you, Sasha!

Glad we don’t have TV. The hospital waiting room had Jeopardy on and some other quiz shows. No remote to channel switch. GAWD, cringe or what? Glad I had my Suduku book.
The Peep is always showing us photos of you guys! I’ve just taken eight more of Maya on my phone and switched my wallpaper shot.

Dear Sasha,
So glad to hear from you. You’re following in your sister Gracie’s footsteps. Maybe it’s time for an audition tape. Joy Behar is leaving The View. I think you’d be a great replacement. I’ll mention this to the Peep. Give my regards to Gus and Morgan, and you’re right about those ants, would make a great Fricassee.

Dear Susannah, I would be a great replacement. They do serve ‘niptinis, don’t they? I’ll give the other cats a head womp from you. Love, Sash

Maybe the real cognitive test is figuring out how to fast-forward and not actually answering the Jeopardy questions themselves?

Or finding the program at all! 🙂 We have one firestick and another “smart” TV that doesn’t need one so they are slightly different. Brains are in overdrive! 🙂

Who knew that Jeopardy was really a sneaky test to see if you should be carried away. I’m gullible, I just thought it was harmless fun.

Dealing with cable and streaming and all of that…too hard. Marley’s youngest son is our go-to person for help. I’m glad the senior kitty got snapped up, but you’re not allowed to adopt from anyone but me – just so you know!!!

Yes I know. Sasha approves that too. Maybe because I worry about my cats after I’m gone (I do have a back up plan) but it touches my heart when an older cat has to be rehomed. It was a beautiful tortie.

It is hard to see the older ones, especially, being homeless. Their later years should be easier not harder.

It was an only cat so going into a shelter environment is hard. I worried about her getting along with 3 other cats too although none of mine are aggressive. Sasha is mildly bossy but not mean-spirited or physical.

Tough for an elderly only cat to adjust to a group. I agree.
