You all remember Gracie (RIP) napping in her window bed. That bed was hers from the first time it was put there. No one else used it. Then she passed and it was up for grabs.
It’s next to a window overlooking their realm and the realm of the two neighboring semi-feral cats. (Border between the two factions is always in dispute with my cats yelling inside and the outdoor cats ignoring them or maybe mooning them. Hard to tell but there is a lot of butt action going on.)
Gus wasted no time in claiming the bed. He occasionally invites Sasha to join him. Or maybe Sasha invites herself.
This past week there was a new sheriff in town!
Here is Gus’ response.
Right now the bed is empty (unusual for this time of day) but I’m sure there will be some hassling over who gets to use it for the big afternoon nap. Hopefully Gus won’t follow through on his threat.
All the cats and peeps here wish you a great weekend.

LOL! Cats are so goofy with their lounging spots! I love that picture of Gracie with her little chin over the edge of the bed ❤

She often had that exasperated look! So cute!

That spot might have to be a time share. 🙂

Great idea! We’ll have to set up a schedule (that no one will follow!).

Just like kids (and many adults too). When someone else has it, it looks especially tempting!

He might if he could get away with it. Morgan can take care of herself and would womp him good if he tried.

Perhaps they need a referee – any volunteers? Morgan can plead that seniority guarantees some niceties, right? The bed looks very comfy and cozy. Poor Gracie, face to the sun, waiting for that rotisserie chicken and to spill the beans on the week’s gossip at your house. You know we miss her too.

Her end was so unexpected and quick. (Perhaps we should all wish for that.) It took us by surprise and we all miss her quirky ways.

Yes, I agree with you.

They need a schedule posted with their times to use the bed. Hope they behave. Have a good weekend!

They are cats. They do not follow instructions, suggestions or requirements.

We miss Gracie a lot. It’s nice to have a cat sleeping in her beloved bed grousing at the neighbor’s cats.

Nice the other three ‘share’ though I think Morgan will probably have first dibs now!

It’s the cat that gets there first that gets it. Usually that’s Gus.

Thanks for posting this! Very funny!
On the serious side, please be aware that the “bird flu” is being passed to cats now. Please warn your readers to be especially careful with both indoor 7 outdoor kitties. The disease is very painful and fatal.

Uhoh……sounds like a good, old-fashioned showdown in the making. “There ain’t enough room in this town (or bed) for both of us cowboy (or girl)! “……… Hopefully negotiations will prove fruitful !

Usually the first one in gets the bed. So far, no one has chased anyone out (or even nudged) but there are soulful stares from the floor.

Yes and it was a surprise to me. She loved the top of the loveseat in the music room and also the bed in front of the window in there too. A long time ago, she was the desk cat and did her share of damage. She would chew up my post-its.

The sticky is tasty, I guess?

Maybe. She would walk around with a sticky stuck to her fur somewhere. She was a walking reminder to pick up shampoo or some other item.

Good for you, Morgan! Show them who’s the BOSS! Fingers crossed there are no incidents of peeing on heads. May the Sassy Cats and their Peeps have a great weekend too!

Morgan: I can stand up for myself against that ginger bully! Sometimes I chase him and sometimes he chases me but it’s all show.

There’s always some realignment that happens when the population changes. Hopefully it will happen without violence!

There are so many beds in this house (I know you are stunned!) that there is always someplace else to sleep or the top of the sofa which is Gus’ current favorite spot (but it’s his afternoon-evening spot — the window bed is/was his morning fav).

Ah yes, but it isn’t about availability, but which bed you want when. Always a negotiation!

Your posts are just the best! We had a gray cat named Lily that looks just like your Gracie and Morgan; Lily thought she was Queen Bee.
Thanks for sharing and have a good weekend!

My grays were peaceful cats especially compared to Sasha who is bossy. Gus mostly goes along with things but he and Morgan have the occasional dust up. No one gets hurt and there is nothing more than chasing, No catching or biting.

I think they like the view but they only look out for a short time and then they are fast asleep!
