Sassy cats – Gracie the pup!

Gracie here. Last Saturday was a weird day. The peeps were weird. Weirder than usual. We were all fed and hurried along so the dishes could be cleaned up. Bad sign. You can’t hurry love, nor can you hurry cats who are enjoying a leisurely breakfast (unless you see Sasha coming to steal it). She also served us our favorites. Another bad sign.

We were either getting company or someone was going to the vet (but the carrier wasn’t out). You never know with the peeps. Sneaky!

Everyone ate their entire meal as if they were not sure when the next one would come. (To be truthful, we always eat like that.) Sasha staked out her spot under the bed just in case.

I decided to sit on the top of the sofa with a great view of the area.

The guest was blogging friend Debra Farrington with her husband and dog.

Gracie the dog

A DOG! IN THE HOUSE! Obviously, I had to keep an eye on her. My one good eye! Gus and Morgan checked her out and decided to nap somewhere else out of the range of that big tongue.

They had named the dog after me, so I felt a connection of sorts. (If you can connect with a dog!) She was ginger colored, like Gus with big floppy ears. Gus hoped she didn’t need ear drops like he did. She wasn’t much bigger than him either. She listened, like Gus sometimes does. Maybe that comes with being a ginger. Sasha never listens and us grays only listen when it benefits us.

Gus: When is she leaving?

Morgan doing her “what is that” dance from up high.

The dog did tricks. (No self-respecting cat would do tricks! Not even for treats!) It was weird. She liked doing tricks. She didn’t whine or beg for food (I heard that dogs did that.) Overall, I give her an A+ for being a dog.

I never ran off or hid and the peep said I was a good kitty. I promptly threw up on the carpet just to set the record straight. I have a reputation to maintain.

Welcome Gracie the pup!

One last picture of Gracie with full tongue!

You can visit Gracie the dog here. Have a great weekend!

  1. I love how all the kitties had such different reactions to the canine invasion. You, Gracie, were the brave one… well done. As cute as Gracie #2 is, I bet you were happy when she was gone so things could get back to normal (or, what passes for normal) in your house and the staff was once again focused on you.

  2. Gracie, well you scooped us on this visit so I enjoyed reading today’s post about both Gracies and your commentary as usual, especially as to the pre-visit doin’s – just look how skeptical you cats were when the Peep’s only intent was to feed you and whisk away the bowls. That’s a great picture of Gus in between the railings checking out the “other ginger” – I would say this is a great-looking bunch of fur kids in this post. Sasha will be mad she hid and missed this photo op! P.S. – Aren’t you flattered Gracie was named after you?

          • I agree with you Gracie. It seems they didn’t care anything about any of the cats at the house. As an animal lover I cannot understand how people can care so little for their pets, but it happens a lot. And sometimes people have several cats, multiple litters of kittens and they lose track of how many are in the house… we have that here all the time. Dogs too and … even birds. A few weeks ago, someone left a box filled with 26 parakeets and 4 cockatiels outside the Humane Society in Ann Arbor (Michigan). Really – you can’t take them INTO the Humane Society or call a rescue group?

              • Yes, seeing the photo of one big brown box with all those parakeets (they didn’t show the Cockatiels in the photo) was sad to see. I am sure they were terrified. I have had many domestic birds as pets through the years. People are cruel. I follow Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary and people abandon domestic ducks anywhere they feel like it. Those ducks have been fed and given water and shelter, then suddenly are on their own. They can’t survive and fend for themselves, let along fend off predators.

  3. I am now on strike in support of Gracie, Gus, Morgan, et al!
Our Miss Mog hisses and growls at people passing by walking their dogs.
It seems to work and the canines cringe away.

    • A long time ago, I had a cat that chased dogs out of her yard. She was one of my last indoor-outdoor cats. Walking dogs are too far away for my cats but next door there are 3 outdoor cats and they keep an eye on them!

  4. We knew from Gracie’s Mom’s blog that they were visiting you and even though your crew were expecting a surprise I bet they didn’t know it would be a D-O-G !! So glad you had a nice visit.

    Hugs, Pam

  5. {giggle} Oh Gracie, you crack us up. Thanks for sharing your visitor adventures. See, us dogs aren’t so bad. Well I can’t speak to the House Pony, but I’d be the ideal host like you. Well probably, er…maybe I’d just be like Morgan and go nap out of sight.
    Your fur-iend,

  6. You sound like you did well, Gracie. And nice job setting the record straight with a little puke. No sense in letting good manners go to the peep’s head, right? Wow, a dog! And look at that big tongue. Must have been weird. I’m glad you all survived. Gracie the pup does look cute, though.
