Gracie here. Lots of commotion going on here. (Bath renovation in progress.) Too many strangers. Sasha has been on the internet looking for an AirBNB to rent. None of them come with a catnip bar. So disappointing.
Strange guys are coming and going. The peep calls them contractors. (No plumber’s crack sighted.)
The weather has been hot. Too hot to open a window for a poor kitty to smell the outdoors. Mealtimes are not timely, and the peep is trying new foods to get a better quality for Gus. It has not been going well. Gus will eat anything for the first time. Maybe even the second time. Then he’s miffed and his nose goes in the air. He has Emeril on speed dial for takeout. Sometimes he’ll call the local Chinese place if he has a yen for seafood (which he’s not supposed to eat). He heard some Asian foods feature small amphibious bugs and he’s anxious to try that.
The peeps had to move upstairs to the guest bedroom while the new bath is going in. (What’s with that anyway? Get a new litter box and call it a day!) We all moved upstairs. Morgan decided that she needed to sleep with them. Lady peep thought that was cute. Male peep rolled his eyes. Despite the ceiling fan, it’s warm up there. Much warmer with a furry cat on your legs.
I found a high comfy perch on top of a pile of comforters and blankets and the lovers are somewhere. The peep says I look like “The Princess and the Pea” perched on high but I won’t let her get a good photo. The one above is the best she could do.
It’s not all bad. There are flies. With contractors coming and going, the garage door opens a lot. Sometimes it stays open while they carry stuff in. Fat juicy flies come in. The peep goes nuts, so we cats go on fly patrol. I’m not so good but Gus enjoys the extra meat almost as much as Emeril’s filet mignon.
We have another month or so of construction so things may get cranky around here. If you have a spare room for four adorable cats, call me. Catnip bar preferred but a nice, screened porch will do too. Flies optional.
Have a great weekend!

Oh my gosh, hang in there, Gracie! I would offer to put you all up, but your lady peep would miss you all way too much!

Nothing alarming with the worker dudes, Gracie! The reno bus seems to be rolling. Flies are disgusting. We have tiny crawlie bugs… and I mean tiny this time of year that gather and hang on the baseboards. I just suck them up with the Dyson… everybody seems to have their annoying kinda bug. Enjoyed the photos, Gracie. Thank the peep for them. Enjoy your weekend and relax. Hang in there Sasha!

Everyone has their own kind of bug. Hotter than blazes here. That’s what the peep said. Not sure what a blazes is but it’s hot.

Dear Gracie,
Forgive me for being a day late. The heat has me by the tail, no offense meant.
I think it’s really great, not to mention handy, that Sasha is computer savvy. It pays to have a geek in your midst. Of course there might come a time where he’ll expect a few bucks, but hey…ya get what you pay for. Right?
Poor Gus. Do ya think he might like a gift basket from Al Capoochie’s in Palm Beach? I’ve ordered from them before and they do such a nice job. i can tell them he’s on a bit of a bland diet. He’ll never know. And they always thrown in catnip with their logo, at no extra charge.
Funny you should mention butt cracks. Just yesterday I had to tell my friend who owns the gourmet store to pull up his pants. He was mooning all of Madison Avenue. Men!!! What can ya say.
Take good care Gracie. Stay cool.

Thanks Auntie Susannah! Gus says make sure they put in extra anchovies. Still looking for an AirBNB for a short stay. Stay cool!

You too Gracie. Makin’ a note on those anchovies. 🙂

Another month Gracie – that’s just crazy! That much disruption will ruin your digestion for sure, so don’t be swallowing any flies. I hate flies in the house … it makes me crazy!

The peep killed 3 herself yesterday with a tissue. We were very proud of her. She didn’t eat them though. What a waste.

Perhaps you’ll share the peep’s technique ‘cuz I drive myself crazy every time I have one in the house! Yesterday I opened the door for a delivery and was careful to not let a fly inside (I’m sure they’d appreciate the A/C) and a piece of bird nest fluttered to the ground. Good timing … only a few strands so far so I shoved a box stuffed into a grocery store bag into the coach light “elbow” so now the front of my house sure does NOT look like a candidate for “House Beautiful” for the next month or so. I thought I lucked out this year. I need a cat lurking about to stop this nonsense!

That’s an unusual decoration! I think I’d prefer birds.

Yes, sometimes that is better, but in the past, they have built a huge nest, packed it with mud and removing it afterward was no picnic – the mud sticks like glue. I had the handyman remove it as I’m not big on climbing on ladders and would have to put the ladder on top of the porch.
But now I can’t get out of the front door or it will disturb the set-up. I held my breath when I went outside Saturday morning that they didn’t find a work-around to enter the space Friday afternoon. So far, so good. I did find a Robin’s nest this year and will have a “baby” post about it coming up in two weeks.

Yes! But I was sorry I never noticed the nest until the chick was almost ready to fledge. But I went back daily after finding it – it was gone three days later. The nest was high up, so I wouldn’t have been able to see the chick before it was big. I do have pics with its Mama feeding it … sadly only one baby, a first to see that (for me anyway).

The peep hates flies more than any other bug that gets in the house. She keeps talking about the poop they land on before they go after her food.

So sorry about those flying raisins in the house. Our mom goes insane with them too and hunts them down like a serial killer. We’re waiting for her to knock over a lamp or two in her quest. Hang in there, it’ll all be worth it when it’s over and the contractors have moved along. On the plus side, there’s no plumber’s cracks which sends Mom into a tizzy.

Aw, bless you. Maya does not like flies so we have a screen curtain (with magnets) up so that she can go in and out. If a fly comes in, it’s bedlam, which is not surprising with 36kg of GSD!

We cats just plain don’t deal with upheaval……of any kind…..period. We like stuff to just stay like it is – renovation isn’t in our vocab unless you’re talking throwing out the old refrig and making way for a BIGGER ONE with more room for CAT MEALS. Anyway, hang in there gang – catching flies isn’t so bad……what you really need is a couple of big fat skinks running around the house! Tee Hee – I can send some – just let me know!
Hugs, Teddy

I can’t help but feel curious about the cat food made of bugs! But I don’t suppose Sa Maj would eat it (yet he would happily snap a bug out of the air and eat that).

Hi there Grace, introducing myself: I’m Mrs Kittow, and my peeps/staff/carers think I was c6-months old when I got sexually assulted by an uncouth Tom and ended up changing from Miss to Mrs p.d.q. At which point I decided life in a Plymouth alley was offended my delicate constitution and instead selected, as new refuge, the cellar of some nice peeps whom my radar judged as sympathetic. I had them under my spell in a jiffy and, bingo, the back-door was at my control and peeps trained as competent housekeepers and litter-tray-cleaners within a few weeks! But, a word of advice to you, Grace dear, seeing you seem easily rattled just by ongoing work, be grateful for small mercies :- right now I’m enduring a standoff with my staff who seem suddenly blind and deaf to my turned-up-nose and complaints over the new food I didn’t ask to be given! Life’s gone from heavenly to irritating in the space of 24hrs – and you’re worrying about the mere invasion of a few strange clompers?? What a pussycat you must be!

Poor dear kitties and peeps. If I lived closer I would have you all over for catnip tea (it’s supposed to be relaxing) and crunchy biscuits. Or treats. Whichever you poor things desire. Especially the peeps. Try to be extra nice to them.

The peep forgot how annoying flies are. Sometimes we cats let some food in our dish. She will take it away or there are flies! These are worse than ants because she says flies like to sit on poop before landing on your food.
