Sassy cats – More food shenanigans

Dreaming of rotisserie chicken

Gracie here. I missed the casino bus, so I’m stuck home to report on the week. Lots of food stories.

The peep tried a new variety of urinary tract food. Everyone liked it the first time she served it. We’ll see at what point they all turn their noses up at it. For sure it will happen after she buys a case of it. That’s how it works in this house.

She was a little slow on dinner a few nights ago. I smelled a tasty morsel of steak in the garbage. I knocked over the can, retrieved the morsel and ran around the house with the peep in pursuit. Fun times. I haven’t done that since I moved here six years ago. The peep said it was all fat but that’s the tasty part! No, she didn’t let me eat it.

This morning the peep fed the peasants a new flavor that they liked last week when she was “testing” it. It didn’t taste the same today. Morgan, the perfect cat who eats anything, refused to eat it. When the peep gave Morgan another flavor, the other two beasts came running. The peep wishes that the specialty diet foods tasted as good as regular cat food.

Sasha is watching the neighbor’s cats.

I’m so glad I’m out of this food fray. No one likes rotisserie spiked cat food but me. Their loss. It makes my food safe from marauding food-stealing cats (yes, that’s you Sasha!)!

Other than picky eaters, more ants (they send in the platoon!) and constant rain all week, it was a good week. No one got sick over the holiday (a miracle). The sun came out today to a round of applause from everyone in this house!

Have a great weekend.

  1. I’m sorry you missed the casino bus Miss Gracie. I know how you enjoy the buffet. All you can eat shrimp? It’s a pity your beast friends won’t eat rotisserie chicken with you. Surely there’s nothing too bad in that.

  2. We are STILL waiting for warmer weather…..we have buds on stuff but few blooms……Spring has forsaken us (sounds dramatic doesn’t it). At least no snow like up north and no earthquakes (good grief).  Food issues just seem to follow cats around like their tails do! The only thing that ever works for me is adding water to canned food if it’s ignored at first try. I guess some cats (like Teddy for instance!) prefer SOUPY vs chunky.

    Hugs, Pam

    • I’m having pet goldfish in my next life. Throw in some flakes and call it a day! We are starting to have spotty sunshine so that’s good. Still cold though. Maybe next week will be better.

  3. Steak – really Gracie? I had no idea a cat would like steak. You are a fountain of information. Were you shaken by the earthquakes(s) while dreaming about rotisserie chicken?

  4. Been rainy all week here, too. And some snow! February had warm temps and now this first week of April is cold! Go figure. May the Kate cathouse have a wonderful weekend.

  5. Gracie, I would love to have seen the Lady Peep in pursuit of you with the precious morsel of seasoned fat! I have chased our kitties back in the day with precious treasures from the trash. I am glad to hear it was a good week and I am super happy you all have some sun! Have a great weekend, Sassy Cats and Peeps!

  6. No sunshine around here yesterday or for the next few days, IF you believe the weather forecasters. I am entertained by everyone’s discerning palate when it comes to the food y’all are served. Hang in there, Gracie

  7. Glad you got your sunshine! We have rain today, which of course only started as soon as I took the dog out at dark o’clock. I can’t believe your peeps throw away steak! But I guess they don’t have a dog who can eat beef.

  8. My cats are the same way. I will test new food, and they eat it. I buy a case, and they aren’t interested. Do you see me pulling my hair out?

    • Before I had to put Gus on a UR specialty diet, they ate two different wet foods. Occasionally they turned up their nose at one so I’d feed the other for a while. Now they are begging for those non-UR foods and will eat them happily! Go figure…cats, huh.
