Gracie here. The last few weeks have been full of Gus drama. To get any attention, I had to barf every day and be creative about the placement. The peep stepped in it twice and had new words to say. That made her happy. She also stepped in dog doodoo at the vets. That did not make her happy. She couldn’t get the stink out of her sneakers so she put them in the washing machine. At least barf doesn’t stink.
Gus is doing well after his surgery. His bum is still naked but there is peach fuzz growing. The male peep says he forgot to put his pants on, but the lady peep says he needs a toupee. There is a little scabbing, but the vet said that would take a few weeks so we’re not freaking out (yet). He smells normal, which is a relief. I don’t want people to think us cats aren’t clean.
Gus didn’t lose an ounce despite all the trauma and disrupted feeding schedules. He always found time to eat. Whatta cat!
Everyone but me is on urinary tract diet food mostly. That tripled the Chewy bill, but it will keep Gus healthy. No one likes my food so there was no worry about switching it out. No one eats mine and I don’t eat anyone else’s.
Sasha and Gus are back to their “get a room” behavior. It’s nice to see. It’s the little routine things that make life feel normal.
Everyone huddles in front of the fireplace in the evening although those days are dwindling. We are looking forward to opening windows and spring smells. Lots of robins around. Maybe we’ll have babies again.
Yep, we are back to normal.
Have a great and healthy week.
Background for new readers: Gus had urinary obstruction surgery three weeks ago. He did well but it disrupted the feng shui of living.

Thanks for reporting, Gracie! It’s lovely to hear from you about all of the goings on at your house 🙂 So sorry the peep had to deal with dog poop and also vomit (even if it doesn’t smell as bad). Hope your stomach is feeling better and you are getting enough attention even without throwing up! Glad Gus is getting back to normal too!

We’re doing ok here. Regular cat stuff. Eating each other’s food (except for mine) and chasing each other around. Even Gus. No one is treated special anymore although his butt still looks funny.

Oh dear God, a dog pooed in the vet’s waiting room?
LikeLiked by 1 person
No, it was in the parking lot although they have a sign that said “0 days since poop in lobby.” The first time I came in, there was a pee puddle on the floor so I let them know. Someone cleaned it up right away. I guess this is pretty common at vet.

I’ve obviously been extremely lucky not to have encountered either. How horrendous.

Dogs especially get really nervous at a vet’s. As my cats aged, I’ve had the occasional pee in the carrier. I keep it lined with a towel so I can switch it out and they don’t have to sit in it on the way home.

Le Roi has never peed or pooed. However, he screams up a storm to make up for it!

I’m so glad that life has returned to whatever passes for normal! And it’s marvelous that Miss Sasha and Mr Gus are back to canoodling. It’s kind of sad that the barfs are normal.

She almost barfed on my tax papers. What a cat. I’ve had her checked by 2 different vets and there is nothing wrong (so they say). Gus and Sasha, yes. Warms my heart. I’m getting used to his naked butt and it’s also looking better with the peach fuzz.

What a fine basket Sasha and Gus have! I’m not just saying that to be nice—I’m a guy who knows his baskets. Purrs, Finnegan

It’s a big basket with a heating pad. It’s also a two-seater! What could be better than that?

Aw, the cute couple back together again. I’m so glad Gus is doing well. Yep, his bum looks weird. I’m so ready for spring. Of course, now that all the bushes and trees have buds on them, we are supposed to get snow! Spring is such a tease.Nice going on the barfs, Gracie. Keep up the good work. What would your peep do without you?

She’s be bored without the search mission every morning! Find it before you step in it! Maybe the good news is that with the diet changes going on (and we are not happy with them!), it’s strictly a hairball barf. No food because I barf in the early morning before I eat. Much easier to clean up. A little cigar and some spit.

Gracie – you are such a sweet, attention-seeking kitty and your recap of current events makes me smile. Glad your brother is back to normal and yes, a little toupee might be in order here to avoid that bare-bottom look – after all, it’s not like Gus is the little Coppertone girl of yesteryear. 🙂

🙂 No he is not the Coppertone girl!

Gus’ peach fuzz is cute. Glad everything is back to normal. Hope it stays that way.

The peach fuzz gives his skin some ginger color which is much better than his naked skin. It’s bristle-y rather than soft but his coat is not as soft as the other cats.

Gracie your news about things being back to normal is THE best news I have heard today! Gus smelling normal is pretty good news too. The male Peep cracked me up saying that Gus forgot to put his pants on!

Great news on a Friday! Funny that no one likes Gracie’s food.

Her food is topped with rotisserie chicken and she’s the only one who likes that.

Good to hear things are pretty much back to normal. Sounds like Gus pretty much takes things as they come without making a big deal out of whatever comes along.

He doesn’t milk it like Sasha does but he enjoyed the extra alone time he got with the peep. She fussed over him a lot leaving the rest of us feeling like chopped liver.

That picture of Gus and Sasha did my heart good. I’m glad to know that everything is returning to normal… or, as normal as things get in a household full of cats.

The peep feels like that too except she checks his butt every day to see if there are still scabs and to measure the fur growth. The woman is neurotic!

Such adorable peach fuzz. Elsa can totally empathize…I had to blend her furs so she stopped looking like a Franken-dog. Bravo for the return of normal!

There’s not much we can do to disguise the nakedness. His naked skin is so white. He loves putting it near the fire to warm up!

Love Gus’s rear view…..looks cute! I’m sure Sasha agrees. Hopefully all food adjustments work out – special food is NOT cheap that’s for sure but worth it (if it works!). Hope the feng shui is “adjusting” !!

We’re still figuring out the food thing. Expecting Chewy today with a new flavor or special food. We keep switching it up so it doesn’t get old. I didn’t have to do that with the old food. Everyone loved it.

He did well but it disrupted the feng shui of living. Oh this is a perfect way to describe what you and Gus have been through. You deserve a bit of peace and positive chi.

The paw (where the IV was) is growing in faster or maybe they didn’t shave it as clean but at least you can see color again! This pinkish skin wasn’t pretty!

I can’t believe Gus didn’t lose any weight during all that upheaval. That’s kind of amazing. I’ve never heard of a cat with a metabolism as slow as mine!

He lost weight since the beginning of the year but nothing during the three weeks of surgery and recovery which I found odd. He had a good appetite but he wasn’t as active and maybe that’s why. He’s running around after his toy worm again.
