Sassy cats — Celebrating

Gracie: This is me doing biscuits on the peeps legs while she’s sort of watching TV. Aren’t I cute?

Gracie here. Another busy week at the castle. Kitchen mostly done but when the big work is done, the “other” work starts like finding the best and most convenient place to keep cat food and treats. Also, some folks coming and going with last minute adjustments (not sure what they are but they make the peeps happy).

Today is the lady peep’s birthday. After eons of strange peeps coming and going with big noisy tools, we thought we’d treat her right. She was born around 1 a.m. so Gus started the honors. He humped her leg at 3 a.m. He doesn’t always do this. In fact he rarely does it in bed. It’s mostly a TV thing at the climax of a show (notice my play on words? Climax?) She must have been happy because she scooted him off the bed to enjoy the afterglow.

I slept with her. I rarely do that but it was her birthday. I was sure to lay on top of her legs so she felt safe and secure. She calls it paralyzed. Whatever.

Sasha woke her up at 6 a.m. with a nicely placed landing on her full bladder. That got her up and running!

Morgan climbed into bed after the male peep left. She didn’t want the peep to feel lonely even though she was fast asleep. Best to wake up to a fuzzy face next to you, staring and wondering where is breakfast.

The peep says next week may be more normal but we don’t even know what that means. She promises there will be pictures of the kitchen. Maybe. You can’t trust peeps these days.

And the lovers!

Have a great weekend!

  1. Well I hope things are coming along and one day I’ll come here, (albeit five days late as I am now), and discover everything is done, fini and the cats have initiated everything in their respective special ways and life returns to somewhat normal again. Happy belated birthday Kate.

    • The backsplash hasn’t been done so I’ve been reluctant to post pictures yet but I may. Window replacement is the hold up. That has to happen before the backsplash can go in. Right now it’s splotchy drywall.

  2. Have a wonderful birthday Kate! A “finished except for tweaks” kitchen is a great present I should imagine. Nice of your animal gang to take turns waking you you to remind you (a) they care, (b) they want something, and (c) to have a happy birthday. Well, two out of three isn’t bad right? Seriously – enjoy the day to the MAX!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

  3. I love you saying, “Whatever,” Gracie and all the kitty birthday wishes for the peep. Wish her a happy birthday for me too. What a sweet caring family you have and I can’t wait to see the pictures of the kitchen transformation.

  4. Happy Birthday! So pleased your Realm is treating you well.
Even better is the kitchen is about to be turned over to you…that should have been “finished” – turned over stirs up images of piles of stuff trying to get back into place…but even that will be happiness. Hope our day is delightful

  5. Happy birthday, Kate. So glad the cats are making a very big deal of celebrating! And very glad to hear that the kitchen work seems to be nearing a close. Phew.
