It’s Sasha the magnificent. Interesting week here. We had a very majestic visitor. She came to our front yard and had breakfast. The peep thought she was eating the flowers. After she left, the peep checked and she cleaned up all the kousa dogwood fruit that was on the ground. Great job. Those blobs are annoying. People step on them. They mush and come into the house on shoes. She’s welcome to come back anytime and clean up the front. The next-door neighbor, who has the bestest garden full of flowers, would be a great next stop for dessert. We haven’t seen many deer this summer.
Gus went on a tear at dark o’clock. He was screaming and carrying on. The peep thought something was wrong. Nope. He just decided to get everyone up early. It’s a dreary day here so he didn’t pick a great day to do it. We had an early breakfast though. The peep hopes he’s not learning to manage the house around his schedule. We’ll see.
Have a great weekend and Gus suggests that you get up early! It sets you up for a nice afternoon nap.

Don’t you love it when the locals come and do landscaping/yard clean up for you? 😁

Yes when they do it right!

This is quite a guest and I hope it comes back.
It’s hard on a family when one member thinks everyone else should be up when s/he is up.

There has been a lot of major highway street work this summer so the deer haven’t been around as much as usual. I almost wish Gus could just go in the cabinet and feed himself!

You’re right, they really do keep us on schedule, Gus’s punctual meows are practically a household alarm clock. I’ve noticed the cats also seem to time their sassy entrances just as the deer wander by, as if they’re staging a little performance for us. It makes the whole house feel like a quirky wildlife documentary.

That free rent and healthcare deal is definitely hard to beat. It sounds like Gus takes his job as a personal alarm clock very seriously. Having a built-in reminder to make sure you never forget meal times is a small price to pay for their company. They really do have us well trained.

It sounds like you had quite the week with your animal visitors. That majestic deer cleaning up the kousa dogwood fruit sounds like a real blessing. Those blobs really are annoying when they get tracked into the house. It’s always interesting to see what nature brings to our doorsteps. Gus certainly sounds like a character, deciding to get everyone up at “dark o’clock.” Cats do have a way of running the house, don’t they? I hope he doesn’t manage to completely rearrange your schedule. An early breakfast followed by a nice afternoon nap sounds like a pretty good deal, though.

They have a great deal — free rent and healthcare! In return they make sure we don’t oversleep or forget meal times! Gotta love them.

Magestic is the best description of that site! I’m so glad you were able to capture it. I agree, anyone who wants to come over and clean up is always welcomed.

I’m not as excited about her pruning skills but the cleanup was good.

That was nice of the doe to tidy up the yard. :) Not so nice of Gus to wake everyone up early.

I don’t know what got into him! This morning everyone slept until after 6 (that’s the best we can hope for).

Sasha, I would love to look outside and see deer grazing … take a long, hard look at them for me, would you? We have a dreary weekend ahead, rainy and stormy every day. Ugh!

Today will be nice. We get the rain tomorrow and it will last a few days.

I hope you don’t get what we’ve had today, a steady rain since dawn and heavy rain tonight and rain all day tomorrow (especially nice, as I have Comcast coming in an 8-10 window).

Today wasn’t the wonderful sunny day they predicted but I can’t really complain. High was 70 and it was overcast but no real rain. Good luck with Comcast!

I hope they can help me, the storm from the 70 mph winds left a tree branch in the wires and no one wants to deal with it. I had Comcast in for a new modem and rewiring due to squirrels chewing on the wires the morning of the nearby tornado and resulting storm/wind damage. I tried to explain on the phone to send a crew/bucket truck, but they will send a tech and then say “no way” and schedule another visit on another day.

Yes, that’s the way it always goes.

He was here and gone before 8:15 and we laughed because yes, he has to escalate to his supervisor to get a bucket truck/crew in place and it will take a while because of all the storm damage in our area. Luckily he lives right here, same city. He took pics then went over the neighbors behind and took more pics. They strapped the big branch to a utility pole which leaves us all scratching our heads.

Amazing her out there having a buffet in your front yard! She was/is a good girl. A good report on the goings on there, Sasha! I can’t believe that Gus carries on like that oh dark thirty!

The peeps couldn’t believe it either. He occasionally gives a yodel but he was yammering away today. Everyone was up before dawn.

It’s nice the deer helped you with the gardening. Good closeup.

Yes, they usually prefer to prune rather than clean up.

Me too! Those fruit are a pain because they mush up making a mess. Obviously they are also tasty.

It was a large deer. Usually they are a little smaller or maybe we see younger ones.

They are beautiful animals. My Mum loved them and we were able to take her to a deer sanctuary that had just opened in Compton Acres, one of the tourist attractions in Poole. It was a wonderful day for her.

I had my 6 month physical this morning at 7:05 am. Not sure why anyone wants to be at the doctor’s office at that hour. Far too early. Gracie gets up with the sun, so early in summer, later in winter. Works for me, but still don’t want to have a routine doctor’s appointment before 9 in the future.

I aim for 10 or later but not in the afternoon. Gus was up by 5:30 screaming his fool head off. Dan was already up and gave him his toys (we have to put in drawer overnight because he thinks 3 a.m. is playtime). It only got worse. I thought they may had had a mouse but no, just normal screaming. My car went in today for inspection. It was supposed to be in by 8. It was there at 7:10.

Ummm….no you don’t! Beautiful to look at but they do a lot of damage eating plants and flowerers. We back up to a huge wooded area (with a lot of food for them) so they come “avisiting!”
