Sassy cats – Paper bags

Sasha getting a “facewash” from her favorite cat!

Every cat is different. Gracie liked boxes especially from Bath and Body but any box would do. Morgan prefers to be up high on the fireplace mantel or furniture. She will move things out of the way even if it means they land on the floor (goodbye favorite vases). Sasha likes getting her face washed by another cat or her belly rubbed by a peep. She’s a very tactile cat. Gus is the only cat that still plays with toys. Yesterday I could add paper bags to Gus’ list of pleasures.

Some of the mail order places have switched from plastic mailing bags to heavy duty paper. Gus loves them. They crinkle and twitch as he pounces on them. He likes the texture and the smell.

Unfortunately, I didn’t take a photo yesterday when he took a nap on it. Today Sasha checked it out. Nope, not her bag. Back to smoochies. Well, maybe just a little “sit” first.

After posting, I caught Morgan on the same bag. Maybe bags are the thing now!

Wishing you all a great weekend with lots of bags and boxes coming your way!

  1. So cute – they have a new toy! We had a cat who loved paper shopping bags and would play with them for as long as the bag held out. You’re right though, they do all have their own personalities!

    • When I think back to all my cats, they certainly are different in every way. The food they like; the toys they will play with and the level of annoying they can be. Gotta love them!

  2. I used to have a black cat who couldn’t care less about boxes or bags. Totally uninterested, like they didn’t even exist.

My current cat, a white and black goofball, is the complete opposite. If there’s a box anywhere in the house, no matter how small, he will try to cram himself into it.

Bags? Oh, don’t even get me started. He’ll sit on them, paw at them, dive into them whatever it takes to make them his.

Seeing your cat sitting on that paper bag reminded me of him. He’s obsessed with anything square-shaped. A piece of paper on the dining table? He’ll perch on it like it’s a throne. Closed laptop? Instant nap spot. I swear, it’s like there’s some invisible “cat magnet” in square things.

    What is that about?

    • They are not interested in most things I buy. Some cat beds are ok but some they don’t look twice. The birthday stuffed cupcake got some interest but it’s not on the big hit list.

  3. Loved this paper bag post with the Sassy Cats. The Z Cat loved bags but not so much paper but those slick bags from grocery stores but bigger. The bigger the better. She really loved our duffle bags. Gracie♥
What happened to the box that looked like a Smucker’s jelly box? Cracking me up with the L.L. Bean bags… fun pictures, Kate.

  4. Teddy likes the smell of paper bags (or maybe it’s wherever they came from!) but doesn’t get inside them like a lot of cats enjoy. He likes to lie on towels – I discovered that early on and he now has HIS very own red towel on a big cushion down in the basement. We call it his throne.

    Hugs, Pam

    • Morgan loves fabric. Especially newly laundered clothes. She will be on it before I can put it away! We have a lot of fleecy throws all over for them. Mostly at windows.
