Sassy cats – The amorous adventures of a certain ginger cat

Handsome boy!

It’s the peep today. Spring is in the air here and so is love. Or maybe lust. It was a normal week. The weather was bi-polar. One day is warm and the next day you are looking for your polar gear. The cats take it in stride. They have heated bed pads and sunspots to bask in. The break in the weather made Gus a bit frisky. (Maybe more than a bit but you can be the judge.)

Gus is our NEUTERED ginger cat although some days you wouldn’t know it. He is the first male cat I’ve had that likes to hump. The rescue supposedly had him neutered young but that hasn’t mattered. Those pesky hormones still rage.

Gus: Love you Sash! You are the best except for the peep’s legs.

Gus has two loves in his life. Sasha is his first one. His attempts to mount her (and he has tried) have resulted in him getting whomped. Sasha does not take kindly to such behavior especially without flowers and dinner first. Not even a sardine appetizer was offered. She is not a wham bang thank you ma’am cat.

My leg wrapped in sensuous fleece!

His second love is my legs with a fleece throw over them. It only works when they are raised on the recliner in front of the TV. They become very sexy then. Sensual even. He loves the feel of the fleece. It puts him in the mood. A very amorous mood.

Since his attempts with Sasha don’t bear fruit, my legs have been his partner over the past year. My legs do not expect flowers and dinner first.

The irony is that last year he had surgery because of urinary blockages that removed his boy parts. His urethra was moved and from the rear, looks more like a lady cat. He has his hormones though and nothing will keep him from his mission.

He looks great in his smoking jacket and catnip pipe. Very cool cat. He could be a Bond cat! Bond, Gus Bond!

  1. Oh Gus! 🤣🤣🤣 Catorze’s nemesis Oscar the dog used to do this, and he had a favourite blanket which he would always use. He was neutered too, and I always used to say, “Is it possible that, when they emptied his money bags, some loose change remained behind?”

  2. Sasha is a smart girl. We had one cat that did that, Spooky. He was fixed as an adult so I assumed that was the reason.

    • They said he was fixed young but he was picked up as an 8 week old that had animal attack wounds so I don’t think they would have neutered him until he healed. It should have been by 3 months though. It’s more like rubbing his belly and kneading the fleece. If I don’t have the fleece he doesn’t do it. Poor guy. Makes him happy though.

  3. My late MIL had a male budgie that “fell in love” with a little plastic teddy bear. He would ride Teddy all over the living room carpet while we howled at his antics. Poor little guy, he just needed a friend, with benefits! 😉

  4. I was just thinking today that maybe I would like to bring in a second cat, but perhaps I need to think about how that might play out. Your cats really do amuse me, Kate. Have a wonderful weekend!

    • I recommend it. I’ve never had issues adding cats. When Morgan joined the household, she was a lot younger than Mollie and Jake and she brought an energy into the house that was good for everyone. I’ve been lucky all my cats get along.

  5. That’s hilarious. I’ve never had a neutered cat act like that. FC was neutered at 2 yo. And he shows zero interest. I wonder if the hormones happened to be on the loose at the time of his surgery and they just never had a chance to leave?

  6. My first ginger cat years ago was like that. Even though he was neutered he was always trying to hump my tabby girl. Because she was spayed, she would just roll over on her side with this horrified look on her face. He would have her in a wrestle hold, and she looked like she was being tortured. I even have some old paper photos of it. I couldn’t resist. It was just too funny. lol!!!

    • Although he’s bigger than Sasha, he can’t pin her down. She’s just not having it. The other day he bit the back of her neck straddling her back (as they do when mating). Didn’t work. She rolled over him. So funny!

      • How funny!!! My ginger boy had no idea what or how to do what he was attempting to do. The minute he jumped on my tabby girl she would collapse (like, “oh no, he’s doing it again!”) and roll over on her side, so he would be joyously humping her thigh. It was hysterical!! 😹

  7. It is very good to hear that the surgery he had continues to be a success! Not in the humping department but for the blockages. We had a lot of cats and never had a humpy cat. Gus is handsome and a bit of frisky is cool! Yes to Bond, Gus Bond 🙂

  8. Ya, know in all fairness I still like to hump too, and my libido was last seen in Miami by the pool. So I understand despite how should we say this, missing a coupla things, Gus’s amour for that femme fatale Sasha is totally understandable. I also think it’s great they have heated pads on their beds. You know Peep, you keep a very grand cat house, as it were. 🙂

  9. I’ve not had a humpy cat. Humpy dogs, now…Woofie would make the attempt on male legs. My friend said, “It’s a love thing.” Her husband responded with, “No, honey, it’s a prison thing.”
