It’s the peep today. I have a Sasha story and I knew if she would tell it, it would be distorted. Majorly distorted.
It starts with Gus. He loves to lie on the top of the sofa. Many of my cats have. Maybe because it’s higher and they can look down on us judgmentally.
Gus is a largish cat weighing around 15 pounds. (Not near as big as Teddy from One Spoiled Cat!) Still a sizable package but he’s firm and semi-fit.
Sasha tried doing it and she liked it too. There was a slight problem. She’s a chonker for her size weighing about 13 pounds (when she should weigh 9) and she’s as floppy as a sack of potatoes. (Her gym membership lapsed!)
They were enjoying some time there when something happened. I have no idea what. Maybe a squirrel lost a whisker or a fish in the nearby stream passed gas. Anyhow, Sasha lost her balance and flopped down on the seat. Fortunately she didn’t fall the other way and hit the floor. The best part was that she was so stunned and indignant. (Perhaps because we were LOAF!) No worries though. She made some biscuits and was her old self again curling up on the seat for a restorative snooze.
She signed up for a balance class. We’ll see how that works out. She’s been looking at exercise clothing on-line.
Wishing you all a great weekend with no slips or falls.

MOL! Poor Sasha. Don’t tell her I laughed a little.

Her gym membership lapsed! 😂 Both of my cats have gained weight since we adopted them 6 months ago. Lou is 14 pounds and Gord tips the scales at 17. We’re trying to cut back on what they eat but it isn’t easy!

As my vet would say, they’re happy cats!

(Hank says it’s avoiding residual cold from hell germs….)
Sounds like the perfect excuse for som fuzzy cat leg warmers…with sparkles….must have sparkles obviously!

For Sasha, yes. Sparkles and leotards!

Kate, I am super late on this post! The picture of Sasha and Gus right before “the incident”… she was certainly listing to the starboard side—Caused by uneven weight distribution 😉 But you said she landed on the seat. Bet she had a dream and startled. I always wonder how they find themselves all discombobulated but they do manage to pull it off as though it was meant to be. Cracked me up thinking about her looking for exercise clothing online! I could use a balance class myself.

Perhaps she felt herself sliding and overcompensated so landed on the seat. Good move actually. She is really like a sack of potatoes.

Hilarious. Did she immediately start making biscuits as if she meant to fall? So funny. Love a good Sasha story.

Yes but not before I saw the befuddled look on her face. She was napping so it was a surprise to her.

Did Gus look at her with a stunned expression and/or jump off the back of the couch quickly? That’s funny because Sasha didn’t hurt herself in the process and I’ll bet she won’t go up there again.

She’s been back up there. I had a cat fall out of the second floor window and come back in the house and go back up to sit on the same window sill. Gus didn’t budge. He may have chucked to himself inside but no expression outside.

That’s good. As to the cat falling out of the window – that is amazing, but maybe it was a favorite spot for that cat and she/he was not giving it up. Yes, Gus knew better to let Sasha know he was laughing at her – animals are like humans!

He didn’t budge, not even to give her a hug.

Aww, Sasha! I hope you love the balance class. You may be the star of the class. 😊
I am glad she didn’t hurt herself . Thanks for the story. It was a good laugh imagining the scene. 😉
Happy Weekend!

Great story, Kate (and Sasha). I’ve been trying to figure out what LOAF means but Google is refusing to help!

🙂 It should be LMAO! As in laughing my ass off. Can I blame that on spellcheck? 🙂 🙂 🙂

How embarrassing for Sasha! My balance is not what it used to be so I can sympathize. Glad she was not hurt.

Except for her pride. I really think she was surprised.

Aw! Poor Sasha! Cats always have to pretend they totally meant to do that 🙂 Glad she fell on the cushions and not the floor!

I am grateful Maya doesn’t get on the furniture. At 35kgs that’s a heavy lump, though she usually falls asleep on my feet!

I think a balance class would do the trick. And new tights can do wonders for one’s morale. But you know Peep, perhaps some jello might be in order. The food at your place is just too good to pass up. I’m just sayin’.

In that case, may I come to dinner if I promise not to fall off the couch?

Yes, Gus likes company and so does Morgan. Sasha will hide.

I’m skinny so hopefully they’ll move over so I can join them on the couch.

Thank you for telling us the story straight out. It was amusing, but don’t tell Sasha I said so.

I won’t. Don’t want to hurt her feelings.

My Commando Cat once lost his balance on a scratching post above the staircase and fell off and then down the stairs (all carpeted). It’s amazing how you can somehow manage to hold in snorting with laughter (sort of) until you realize the worst injury is to the cat’s pride.

Once you are sure there is no vet bill, it’s hilarious! I always love how they try to make it look like it was planned.

Cats who lose their balance are funny to watch, although I’m sure they don’t feel they’re humorous. Still…

It was funny especially since I was sitting on the sofa. She almost fell on me.

Hello & thanks,
I love your emails.
My 20 yr old cat just died & I have one left thats 10 years old & I’m not sure if I should get her a companion. I think she misses another cat being around but who knows.

Hard decision. I’ve been lucky that all my cats accepted a new cat. Maybe she’ll let you know in some way.

Yes, please give another kitty a chance at a good life. It’s a nice way to honor the memory of the one who just died.

Uhoh……..well glad to hear Sasha is considering a balance class – I can just see her in a leotard……. I love it when a cat has something happened that they didn’t plan (like a minor fall). They are embarrassed….you can almost hear them thinking “I hope nobody SAW that!”……..Teddy has only fallen once – turning over in a chair during a nap – and the first thing he did was lick his paws and give himself a face wash – cat signal of “yeah I did that on purpose….sure….so what…..big deal” !!
Hugs, Pam

Pulling out a leg to wash is one of her “go to’s” when something unexpected happens. It’s her version of “no big deal!”

Tigger toppled off things on occasion. If he saw us watching, he’d start licking his paw as if to say, “I meant to do that.” 😀

That seems to be a normal response to embarrassment (or at least as far as cats go).

In one of my exercise classes the instructor considers the word “fall” to be a curse word! (This is a class of seniors.) She uses euphemisms like “finding one’s self on the floor unexpectedly” and such…pretty funny. I hope Sasha finds herself some pretty exercise clothing and it gets her moving.

She’s in her post breakfast nap right now, not to be confused with her pre lunch nap.

How can you tell the difference?? Does she have little signs she posts?

She does a quick trip to all the food dishes to see if there is a crumb left before going back to a nap.
