Sassy cats — A state of the union

Gracie: This is Gus and me napping by the office window. It was hot so I pushed off the towel!

Gracie here. The peep is mad at me. Really mad. She has been trying to wean me off of rotisserie chicken for a while (fat chance!). She says something about it being too much work and time consuming. Bullpoopies! Her life is dedicated to making me happy. It’s in my adoption contract.

This week she brought home two new types of cat food that look like rotisserie chicken and are healthy. They are white and not the typical brown. She didn’t mention the healthy part because you know…cats…healthy, NOT! I like them. I ate so much she had to go get more the next day. The pet store was out of the one but she bought a bigger can of the other. Nope. I didn’t like the stuff in the big can. She kept telling me it was the same food. Nope. Not happening.

She went back and returned the big can for the more expensive smaller cans and I ate it. She had to go to the pet store three days in a row because I ate so much. She was muttering that she didn’t know if she could afford me. Pfft!

After I ate three cans yesterday (which I’ve never done in my entire seven years here), she pulled the trigger and bought $80 worth of the special cat food. It’s being delivered today. She had to buy a lot for free shipping. The peep hates to pay for shipping. The icing on the cake is that Gus, who eats anything, doesn’t like it. He won’t steal it. Sasha is another story. You need a whip and chair to keep Sasha from a plate of cat food.

Sasha: They don’t understand my needs!

This morning I had second thoughts. I turned my nose up. It took two hours before I finally noshed on it. All I heard was “GOLDFISH!*”

She loves me. She really does.

*Goldfish is the threat the peep yells at the cats. In her next life she will have goldfish as pets because they are so much easier.

  1. Obviously big can food is different than the food in little can. If it was the same, why would they bother to snooker you with big cans are more efficient ( and dry out faster..).

Gracie, you and RC Cat must have trained at the same kitten school

Finally find the right size can at a reasonable price – and buy a huge amount to get free shipping, and then…oh, “We are tired of that one. What else did you get?” (How many assorted cans/types did I have stacked in pantry…figuring if there was. a disaster and nothing else….right. The dog ended up having it a toping for meals HAHAH

    Paws up for Cats Rule!

  2. Oh Gracie…you constantly provide us with loads of smiles on your eating preferences. No doubt much to your Mom’s chagrin. Here’s hoping you’ll eventually accept and enjoy the new food. You never know when rotisserie chicken will be discontinued.

  3. I think it would be easier to just feed her rotisserie chicken. Does she just eat the white meat like we do? I guess that could get a little expensive. I wonder if she would get all picky about eating the chicken after a bit. Gracie, she does love you but you might be pushing it a bit. Don’t believe her about going all tough love on you!

  4. LMAO. Achievement unlocked: Pinnacle Picky Eater. I guess we are fortunate that because we have a big dog with allergies on special, expensive sweet potato bison kibble that has to be shipped, shipping is free. I mean, as long as I order the cat food and treats at the same time.

  5. You know Gracie, I totally get that you would prefer to hoard all this new food, and yes, how fortunate for you Gus doesn’t like it…YET…I wouldn’t be so smug so fast. A tip.

And I hate paying for shipping too. They really snooker you. Your Peep sounds very smart. And if she blew 80 bucks on you, well that sounds like love to me. So be nice.

  6. Gracie likes what Gracie does

How it IS, not how it WAS

Her tastes change day to day

    Causing Kate’s hair to gray

    Gracie says, “I am a cat . . .

    Consistency? What’s up with that?”

  7. Well I foresee a legal battle here if Gracie has a contract that includes rotisserie chicken as THE meal preference. This could get messy. I honestly (truly) would love to have someone give me even HALF of the money back that I spent initially trying to find SOMETHING Teddy would eat – I was almost making a weekly trip to the shelter to donate cases of “what my cat won’t touch with a ten foot pole”. When they say cats are finicky I think it’s BEYOND true!!!! Good luck……and I mean it!

    Hugs, Pam
