Gracie here. It’s a good week. A rotisserie chicken made an appearance! We were friends for a short time and then it was gone. The peep was annoyed as I ate a big bunch and heaved it up. Argh! She told me they don’t grow on trees. No, they grow at Costco!
Sasha was in the dog house earlier in the week. Since Mollie passed no one sleeps on the peep’s bed at night. The other three will hop up there when it’s time to have breakfast but not during the night. Sasha decided to hop up there around 2 a.m. for a cuddle. At first she snuggled up with the lady peep who kept sleeping. That wasn’t enough. She started smacking the peep on the face to wake her up. (Gentle slaps without claws delivered with love and some sense of urgency.) Finally the peep woke up and scratched her. Sasha then jumped down to find her main squeeze Gus for snuggles leaving the peep wide awake for the next two hours. The peep was not happy.
Gus has a toy he brought with him from the shelter. He loves it. It’s a fuzzy cylinder. It looks like a caterpillar. The peeps call it the “sleep killer.” He runs around with it in his mouth wailing. No one knows what that’s all about but we’re sure they can hear him in the next town. We all ignore when he has these episodes because it makes him happy. When he does it at 3 a.m. no one is happy (except Gus). At dusk the peeps put the toy in a drawer. It comes out in the morning ready for another howly day. That works except when the peeps forget. Then it’s every man (or cat) for themselves.
That’s all that’s going on here this week. Wishing you a wonderful weekend full of rotisserie chicken.

Aw, Gracie, it sounds like you all had a wonderful week. If (for some reason) your peep doesn’t sleep well at night, you should introduce her to the wonders of a good nap!!! Keep up the good reporting.

She knows how to nap but she doesn’t do it as often as we do. She’s a slow learner.

Ah, well, I’m sure you guys are trying your best to show her how its done!

Sorry about your rotisserie chicken Gracie. You’ll get some more … no worries. Nothing like a paw batting you in the face while you are in dreamland. My aunt’s dog Apache had a dishpan full of toys because any visitor to the house always bought a toy for Apache. They were always squeaker toys and as soon as the visitor left, my aunt would take a knife and dig that “squeaker” out of the toy, othrwise the dog would walk around and squeak it non-stop because it was new and yes, it did get on your nerves after awhile.

My cats squeaker toy is their throat! Can’t cut it out but sometimes…. 🙂

Well you could threaten them with that, but you know they would only laugh it off and yowl louder. 🙂

Sasha sounds very gentle compared to how Joanie licks my eyelids to wake me -it feels like sandpaper. Have a nice weekend.

Maybe…there are no lickies just persistent pawsies.

I just spent four days with a single (very tiny) cat. She totally ruled our lives! 😉

And that’s as it should be. The small ones don’t know they are small.

I laughed at Gus and the toy. Reminded me of last night with Scout. I put her toys away at night, but she must have hid one. I woke up at 2 a.m. with her playing and meowing at her toy. I took it away and she cried for a bit then came to bed. Poor you, waking up with a smack in the face. Never a dull moment with cats.

The Sassy Cats definitely keep life interesting! Howly day… HAHAHAHA! Gracie, I think a rotisserie chicken will be a part of our weekend. You have had me hungry for rotisserie chicken for weeks!

Was that some form of booty call in the middle of the night by both kitties. Without the booty of course. 😸

Wow. Gus is sure proud of his fuzzy caterpillar “kill.” Gotta show that thing off, I guess! Nothing like two hours awake at night to make a peep psychotic. Of course, sleep-deprived peeps are very forgetful, which means there’s a risk of forgetting to visit the rotisserie chicken tree.

We are almost out of rotisserie chicken. Today will be her last “treat.” Tomorrow will be hell!

Jack does his poor me cries every morning around six because it’s breakfast time. Sophie goes under the bed and scratches the boxspring. I’m okay with Jack’s method of waking me up but Sophie’s drives me crazy and she has destroyed the underside of the boxspring.

Does anyone with a cat have an intact box spring? That’s where mine hide if a cat carrier appears.

Hazel ripped the underside of the sofa. That was her happy spot!

Oh no! If I’m not up at breakfast time I will find 3 cats on the bed staring at me. Gracie doesn’t do that. She sends her minions to take care of it.

Sophie does that with her toys too. It can be loud in the middle of the night!

OMG! Gus is so loud I worry the neighbors can hear him! If the toy is in the drawer, he’s good. He doesn’t do it with the kicky sticks, just the caterpillar and we have some crocheted ones that have to sleep in a drawer overnight too.

Hiro, our oldest, doesn’t have a toy but routinely needs to howls for a few minutes in the wee hours. No idea what that’s about. Maybe he just wants to wake us up briefly. Cats…can’t live with ’em, can’t live without ’em.

My old cat Jake howled at night but wouldn’t stop until I got up and soothed him. Vet said it was an old age thing. He seemed to get disoriented. Except for this toy, Gus is a quiet cat.

Had to laugh over the fuzzy toy. RC Cat had one similar that was treasured above all…and that was the problem. Sometimes she’d worry the dog would get it, so she would wander around the house with it in her mouth looking for a safe place to hide/bury it…and that took a long time and many “trial” attempts at a “safe spot”…eventually she’d get tired jaws and start crying but would not put it down. Then it disappeared…found it later buried outside (but RC never went outside) – it’s like Molly finally had had enough and snatched it up saying, “I’ll do that for you.”. Oh, once recovered and cleaned up, once again it was THE toy mouse…and was retired to the back closet sleeping loft.
Have a great weekend Gracie!
