Gracie here. It was a great week.
It was Wednesday and I was cat napping. We cats sleep in high alert in case a mountain lion breaks into the house looking for a tasty morsel like me to eat. Even if I snore, I’m in high alert. It’s in the genes.
I heard the garage door go up and down. The peep was home. She came through the garage door and I knew instantly! She bought rotisserie chicken. For me! My favorite!
I was up from a sound sleep and helping guide her to the kitchen. I walked through her legs and rubbed against her. I gave her my best purrs. She likes that but she wasn’t moving fast enough. My belly wanted chicken. When she started to cut up the chicken, I started to intensify.
I mewed and rubbed and finally I tried climbing her leg (to help you know). I was hugging her legs. A claw may have punctured something but she must have liked it because she was dancing around yelling, “Dang it Gracie!” That’s a good sign, isn’t it?
After a long time (like 87 hours) she was finally done and gave me some. Then she gave me some more (cause I was yelling for more). I ate a lot and I had to nap. There were rotisserie treats through Thursday but she told me this morning was the last. She needs to buy more rotisserie chicken!
BTW none of the other cats like it so no one steals my chicken. Nirvana! Have a great, chicken-filled weekend. Of if you are a vegan, a wonderful veggie! Corn is in season and yummy (so says the peep, I don’t like corn).

Yay for Gracie’s rotisserie chicken!!!

It was a struggle getting her back on cat food but I know she really enjoys it. I swear she would have eaten her weight in chicken if I let her.

LOL! We had one like that too. I had a chicken thing I made in the crockpot and it used to drive him crazy waiting for it to be done.

Rotisserie chicken is delish! Don’t blame you for getting excited Gracie! 🙂 But your peep is right, corn is really yummy too!

Do you get actual mountain lions where you live?

Gracie: I think we do but the peep says we don’t. We have the occasional coyote here. They like tasty cat morsels too.

Gracie would you believe I don’t eat chicken? My Mom says I’m a weirdo because I only like actual cat food. Mom says that’s just more chicken for her and Dad to enjoy (and they have it a LOT) but I really don’t care – as long as I get what I like I say “LET THEM EAT CHICKEN!”…….Mom says that Marie Antoinette (whoever the heck she is) said something about letting “them” eat cake but maybe she should have said let them eat chicken????

I’m the only cat who eats people food unless you count Morgan’s potato chip fettish. She likes to get one chip and lick off all the salt. She then leaves the soggy mess for the peep to clean up! Today will be a sad day as all the rotisserie chicken is gone. 😦

Well, it sounds like she was rewarding you for being so helpful. Good job Gracie! Hope you and your peep and everyone there have a wonderful weekend, too.

Yes but it will be chicken-less unless you count that artificial chicken in the cat food can.

Aw, she will be all cute one day and you will go and buy another one!

I love to treat her but she gets all snooty for a few days, picking at her regular food.

Glad you scored a lot of chicken. Have a great weekend.

Obviously you are a much-loved cat Gracie … next time I hope there are TWO rotisserie chickens that make it to your house! Now I have the “Chicken Dance” song in my head. P.S. – I get it … although I love corn on the cob, I would prefer chicken to corn too.

The peep said last night’s corn was perfection! It was picked in the morning and kept refrigerated (even at the farm stand). It was fresh and sweet.

Aah, that does sound good Gracie. I used to like going to country farm stands to get just-picked corn and veggies back in the day. Years ago my father worked for a company that in a rural area, next to a farm. The farmer used to bring in bushel baskets of corn for employees to help themselves.

Wow Gracie, you’re lucky you don’t have to share with the other cats.

Sometimes they eat my cat food but they won’t touch my chicken.

Don’t trip the peep, Gracie! She might not be able to get out to buy that chicken if she breaks a leg.

Sophie and Jack like it when I make make chicken salad. They know I always put aside some chicken for them.

I have to sneak around to make chicken salad or my salad has very little chicken in it! 😉

No one else eats rotisserie chicken. They eat canned chicken cat food. No accounting for taste!

Sounds like you scored the motherload on chicken, Gracie. Bravo. I’m gonna have to ask my mom to get some, it sounds pretty tasty and just like something a picky girl like me would enjoy. We’re with you on the corn which isn’t really a veggie, it’s a grain that is high glycemic and inflammatory so it’s never in our house. Still everyone raves about it especially at BBQs. Enjoy your nap.

It’s not a veggie? don’t tell the peep!

Everyone thinks it is; but it’s just a starchy grain and carb. Especially troublesome for anyone with joint issues.

The peep just picked up a half dozen cobs from the local farmer. She thinks chocolate is a berry. She’s delusional when it comes to food.

Wait…you mean chocolate ISN’T a berry? 😉
A little more bad news…corn is the most commonly grown crop in the United States, and most of it is GMO.

Ha! “She needs to buy more rotisserie chicken!” You tell her, Gracie.

She does! She says it doesn’t have all the nutrients that a cat needs so I have to have fortified cat food too.

None of the cats here have patience except maybe Morgan but she can dance around too when she’s hungry. Sasha and Gus scream!

Is there anything as helpful as a cat when you’re carrying in groceries and chicken? (Helpful as in helping you trip and break a hip!)

Nothing as helpful as Gracie with chicken. She is not a food motivated cat so all this behavior is unique to rotisserie chicken.

Woofie would harass me for carrots when I was chopping them up for pot roast. He’d bark in outrage if he didn’t get one. It was so bizarreI laughed and always gave him at least one.

Carrots are much easier to have on hand than a rotisserie chicken! Morgan likes potato chips. Just one. She licks off the salt and she’s happy.
