Sassy cats – A chaotic week

Gracie here. I’m back! The casino trip was wonderful and so much better than the goings on with Gus’s UTI meds.

The peep was annoyed with herself. She took a bunch of wonderful (she said award winning) pictures of Gus trying to avoid getting his meds but there was no memory card in the camera. We won’t be seeing Cat Fancy knocking on our door any time soon!

We have houseguests. I am milking it for attention. Gus is watching from a distance to make sure it doesn’t involve treats; Morgan is around somewhere; and Sasha is under the bed praying for them to leave. She tried to bury a statue of St. Joseph under the carpet. We told her that’s for selling a house, not getting rid of houseguests. Last we saw she was googling cement shoes and calling Cousin Vinny.

The peep carried her down to the litter box yesterday. It was so long since she’d gone, we were afraid she’d burst. Hard to tell what’s under all the fluff. She grumped all the way down the stairs, but it was successful.

Gus has one more pill on Sunday and he’s completely done. Hurrah! (Say that like a marine!) On the cat scale, he’s an easy pill but he can get finicky and make the peep chase him around the house first. He does that for fun.

Gus: Get away from me with those pills! Alexa is calling Cat Protective Services!

Have a great weekend. Next week is scheduled to be a normal (whatever that is) week here.

  1. Thanks for the update! Sounds like you’ve had a fun and exciting few days. It’s great that Gus is finished with his medication and that everyone is safe and sound. It was a smart move to take the kitty down to the litter box and I’m sure Sasha was relieved. Thanks for the entertaining post!

  2. We just dropped off our houseguests at the airport. The house is a bit quiet but that’s a good thing.

I’m glad that Gus is nearing the end on his torture session. I hope that means that he’s feeling good again. I imagine he and Sasha have some serious cuddle time to make up.

  3. Dear Gracie – you write tantalizing and newsy posts. 🙂 Glad everything is copasetic at your house. I had a “peoply” week visiting the eye doctor, having tree cutters do their big project in the backyard and a disruptive week with a potential tornado and staying up ’til 2:15 a.m. to be ready to go to the basement, lost power and internet and another severe storm this afternoon. Whew! “Bring Autumn” is what I say!

      • Yes! And I forgot to mention the guy in our area on the loose for 2-3 days who was carjacking by gunpoint, then robbing a store, ditching the car and carjacking another person/car. He carjacked a car at the Meijer grocery store. I intended to go grocery shopping that morning but when I got home from the eye doc Tuesday, the tree guy had called to say they’d be there Thursday and I didn’t want stuff going on three days in a row – whew! He was caught Friday night.

  4. Great news for Gus! Hoping that’s the last of it. No guests for me because I only have one bedroom. The other I turned into an office. I’m happy with that:) Hope you have a good weekend.

  5. Now that’s a very busy household! And Sasha is truly hard core–truly not happy about your houseguests! I hope all the Peeps are enjoying themselves, and able to more or less ignore the kitty shenanigans! Enjoy your weekend, Kate!

  6. Gus is a very clever kitty! He gets entertained and makes you pay for daring to give him a pill. And I bet he gets a treat for taking it nicely. Does he smell good again so that Sasha will cuddle him in her hideout under the bed?

    • The smell must be gone because she isn’t hissing but they aren’t canoodling quite as much. Part of that may be the parade of guests we’ve had. Sasha is pretty skittish at the moment.

  7. Hope that last pill of Gus’s is the END of the UTI and associated issues! I’m guessing you do too. I’m also guessing you will be happy when you can take down the “EVERYBODY WELCOME TO STAY A WHILE” sign so you can have some time to decompress from company for a while. I’m not good with company either – you just can’t totally relax and I’m at the “need all the relaxing I can get” stage in my life – I’m with my friend Pix and would be suggesting a lovely local Inn for visitors!!!!

    Hugs, Pam

    • The guests are my husband’s daughter and her family. For distant relatives and friends we recommend a local hotel and we all are happier with that. We have actually said no so some requests. There will be a ban on overnight visitors for the rest of the summer.

  8. Here’s wishing you a drama free and easy-going weekend. Cats are clever, you’re going to have to resort to skulduggery (otherwise known as nonchalance by pet parents) when it comes to pill-ing your sweet clever boy. I’ve found a variety of ways to con, er I mean painlessly pill Elsa and rotate them when needed. We have thumbs for crying out loud and should be able to satisfactorily out-fox our pets! 😊

  9. Gracie, I am so happy you had a wonderful time at the casino. Yes, too much going on there in Sassy Cat Land. My nerves started to twitch over all the house guests. I just don’t handle house guests well which is why I ask friends and family if they wouldn’t be happier in a charming little Florida inn. I know I would be happier in a charming little inn.
