Sassy cats – The straight story

Gracie here. Sorry I wasn’t here last week. The peep gets so neurotic. What a diva! She was beside herself because I had a few barfs so she took me to the vet. Some were pretty spectacular, but you know, you’ve seen one barf you’ve seen them all. (Pictures are residing on the peep’s phone if anyone is interested! Yes, she needs a life.)

The mean vampire vet tech (who claims to love me) took my blood again. Seriously? How much money must the peep spend before she understands I don’t have anything that shows up in blood work? Whatev!

They had this high faluting food discussion (like I would eat anything they WANT me to eat). The vet made the peep buy a $$ can of cat food. I was LMAO! Not even Gus (who eats anything) would eat it. She also wants me to take an omega supplement. I don’t take pills or eat anything sprinkled on my food, so good luck with that.

The vet said no more appetite stimulant so no more wet food. Okay with me. Not my favorite anyhow. Without the wet food, she can’t sneak in the stool softener so technically I am au naturel now! Nada! No meds at all. I eat what I want and that’s it! I also haven’t barfed except for two pieces of kibble since the visit. (Peep is smashing head into desktop! She wonders why she cares. Also since she shrouded my favorite barf spots with towels, I haven’t barfed.)

We need a bigger window! The peep said that although she took several pictures, not one has all of us looking toward the camera. We are cats after all!

Gus is good. He is over being afraid she is going to clean his ears (although he must get them cleaned once a week!). He is supposed to get a L Lysine supplement but that’s not going well either. He doesn’t like it. The “soft chew” is as hard as a rock so the peep has been smashing and adding to his food. He eats around it. That’s what cats do.

The house is back to normal or as normal as a house with four over the top cats and two geriatric peeps can get.

Hope your weekend is great and no one tries to take your blood! I plan to go to the casino this weekend. I hear they have catnip bingo machines. Nirvana!

  1. Remember the song with “3 cats in the yard; life used to be so hard”? That’s a great window scene – as good as a 3 cats in the yard.

  2. I hope this all gets well sorted before the family reunion! Extra barfing while entertaining others is definitely a stressful situation! Yikes!

    • Everything is good right now. I don’t know what kicks it up or what resolves it. We are transitioning to a new food but I doubt it would work that fast. Fingers crossed.

  3. Pets are far more clever than us uprights give us credit for, Gracie. Clearly Gus and you manage to figure out what was food and what was medication/supplements. Just before Norman passed, we bought a big bottle of liquid omega 3 fish oil at the suggestion of the vet. Norman being the perfect dog had no problem with it, Elsa on the other hand…you and her are a lot alike in that department. Have a pill free weekend.

  4. Gracie, I hope you come home from the casino a winner! What are the games of your choice when you go to the casino? SSNS’ Mom loved to go to the boats. So good to hear that you ate some wet food. You and the other Sassy Cats have a nice weekend… and the peeps too, of course!

  5. Glad you haven’t barfed since she covered the spots. I wonder why the vet is so against an appetite stimulant. Have a nice weekend.

  6. Dear Gracie – you sure deserve a day out after the hardships you’ve endured … go and have a good time and don’t worry about anyone back at the ranch. I took Lysine supplements years ago as I liked peanut butter but it gave me canker sores … I dunno why. I haven’t take it in years.

  7. Yay on no barfing!
Your poor Mom’s head, I sympathize with her, have had plenty of those moments.
Good luck at the casino and hope you all can have a fun, relaxing weekend!

  8. Teddy barfs often. It’s always just after he eats. After the barf, he goes and eats some more and that usually stays down. I think he just eats too fast the first go-round. He does his thing on the rugs. It would be nice if he would do it in the rugless kitchen.

    • Sasha does that too sometimes. They are eating too fast. Gracie’s is different. It’s not usually right after she eats. As for where, hard surfaces are no fun!

  9. I remember those years of wrangling Sneakers the unpredictably mean cat to take care of her health. Oh, how grateful I am that all I have to do is stuff a pill into a hot dog, or any soft treat for that matter, for my dog to gobble it up.
Have a nice weekend, Peep. And enjoy the casino, Gracie.

  10. “Vampire vet tech,” LOL. Gracie is the epitome of a contrary cat (which is, in and of itself, an oxymoron). Food motivated animals are so much easier when they have issues: easier to tell when they are sick (because they stop eating) and so much easier to get meds into! Though it does mean no food can be unsupervised ever.

    • Gus is like that. I was surprised that he didn’t like the lysine supplement but it comes in powder form and I’ll try that. Gracie you can’t fool. Today she’s eating wet food. A lot of it. You can never predict what’s going on in that little head.

  11. Hey Gracie! We’re glad you’re feeling better – or at least not barfing. It takes a lot of energy to get something out. I even got Mom to feed me the treat I love so I could barf it up. We should be best friends!

  12. Good luck at the casino Gracie……glad the barfing has let up and you can eat whatever your heart desires. Message here might be : sometimes things just plain work themselves out. I tell my Mom that all the time!!!

    Hugs, Teddy

    • My peep wrote all this down so next time I go on a barfing situation, she will remember that I got over it by myself. Especially without bloodwork! An ultrasound would have been a new test but they wanted bloodwork.
