Some weeks are great. Nothing bad happens. No diarrhea. No barf. Just butterflies and rainbows.
Then you have a week like this. First the dreaded barf puddles. I walked into them twice. Once with fuzzy socks (which went into the laundry) and the second time at 3:30 a.m. with bare feet. By the time I cleaned my feet and the floor, I was wide awake!
I wrote out the Christmas cards. Morgan thought she would help by eating a stamp. She took a fancy to them and I couldn’t discourage her until I hid them. Fortunately we only lost stamp. There is fur in the box I store the cards in but we’ll save that for next year.
There were bite marks in some of my post-it notes but I could read them. They were stuck to the floor but I found them.
Mollie decided to stand on my chest at 3 a.m. to see if I was still alive. I saw her check off her list next to “annoy Kate.”
I’m pretty sure Hazel took a nap in the Christmas centerpiece. Oh well.
As we end this week, I’m anticipating butterflies and rainbows for next week. All the critters here hope you have a wonderful and hairball free holiday!
Author’s note: If you receive a Christmas card from us and it has bite marks, a mangled stamp or a bit of fur, that’s a gift from the management team here. We humans did our best to hide those and keep them away from allergy-prone friends. However…
I just returned from my son’s house where their dog was leaving them little “barf presents” all over the place, too! For some reason a beef bone didn’t agree with him, and there were multiple episodes. At least I wasn’t the one who had to clean them up. On NYE be sure to hide the liquor! I’d hate to think what would happen if the cats decided to party!

You know what’s funny? I have the ability to pretty much always avoid barf puddles in the dark.It must be my sixth sense.

Until this week I could have said that.

LOL! Oh, so true! Some weeks they are extra challenging, then the rainbows and butterflies come out right when you are at your wits’ end!

Just when you are asking “Why do we have cats?” they do something wonderful.

I hope your holidays are hairball free and it is butterflies and rainbows going forward. (P.S. – I heard similar stories of barefoot forays to the bathroom in the middle of the night ending up with wet and sticky feet from cat-friend Carol.)

Sadly it happens, just not often! Hope your holidays are full of peanuts and squirrels!

Carol will always say it happens after she has just steam cleaned the floor, or shampooed the carpet – in fact she has an old rag-type rug she puts in the corner of her bedroom in an effort for them to head there when they have a queasy stomach … they’ll barf right next to the rug! Thank you Kate – I hope our weather cooperates so I can get down there – so far, so good … maybe a dusting of snow in the afternoon, and that’s it.

Always, always, always after the rugs are cleaned. On the furniture, it’s after the cushion covers were thoroughly cleaned.

That sounds just like Carol – she always says it is as if they know it’s freshly cleaned. She’ll lament “why do they do it right next to the rug I put there for that purpose?” Another one is on the stairs … she has a two-story house and that is a big gripe of hers, having to clean the stairs.

I haven’t had the stairs issue. They don’t do it there. They like to start and then back up so there is a nice stream!

Hoping the rest of the Holidays are without barfing from cats… but hey, a cat has to do what a cat has to do! Hope you are enjoying your Holidays aside from hairballs!

Yes, the little imps! Walking into barf rarely happens. The fact that it happened twice in the same week is remarkable. I am good for at least a year.

I hope it’s not the start of anything! We do Laxatone once a week and next day at least one somebody throws up a hairball.

I should do that for Mollie. The grays don’t seem to get them often. Hazel occasionally.

I just give it to everybody, just in case. I’m babysitting one of the grandcats right now and gave it to her today because she has the teeniest poos I have ever witness. Almost mouse turds . . . .

True story, I can tell which cat pooped by the size and shape. Yep, I need a life! 🙂

I hadn’t thought of that. I’m glad the grandsons don’t have hairballs.

We’ve had the same week here. One sick cat with two vet visits…I think Gilda’s on the road to recover. And now Gracie has opened up a couple of her spay stitches. Back the the vet’s office in a few minutes and I see a cone of shame in her future.

Poor Gracie. I’ve never had a cone of shame for any of my cats. I did have one cat chew her spay incisions but the incision was already healed and the doc wasn’t concerned. I can see her now! “Oh look there is a string on my belly! I must play with it!”

Wishing you an amazing butterflies as rainbows week and a Merry Christmas too! I think your cats may need reminding about Santa, though I think they may have the big guy wrapped around their paws . 🙂

There is a rumor here that there may be some new catnip bags in their future. Santa personally makes them so they are strong and durable!

Give her time. She has a very nasty habit of barfing in her food dish when it’s loaded with food. Very few cat things revolt me but that does.

I got a new vacuum and the dog barfed on it. Think it’s a coincidence? I don’t. The dog hates the vacuum.

maybe Morgan wanted to bring the christmas greeting purr-sonally this year with eating the stamp? I hear you for the recycled food on the floor… either we wear socks or nothing when we play mine sweeper at night ;O)

Maybe the worst is when you have sneakers with big treads on the soles. If you don’t realize it, you can track it throughout the house. Boogers.
