It’s the peep today. With the holiday weekend, Sasha took off to prepare for a tuna festival tomorrow. She maybe at the spa getting her nails done and hearing the latest gossip. You never know with her.
It’s been a hot week here. Even the squirrel wasn’t up to his usual high jinks running outside the window while the cats were watching. Sasha has been mostly out of sight. I suspect she’s been napping in the basement which is a lot cooler. Gus, on the other hand, needs to be in the thick of things. Right now he has his toy and is yowling his head off. It’s a bit early for that caterwauling but it happens when it happens.
Speaking of Gus, he has a new favorite thing to do. He loves to sit in my lap when I finish dinner. He waits patiently (or not) until I put the last of my food in my mouth, then he hops on my lap, sticks his butt in my face and checks to make sure I ate everything. He doesn’t eat people food but he likes to check it out. His new trick is to wait until I put my water glass to my mouth for a sip, the he pushes my arm with his head (to help??) and I spill water over everything. He thinks this is hilarious!
Every cat has their quirks. Sasha will jump in my lap when I’m on the sofa but she does it at 10:45 pm. I go to bed just before 11 so I usually have to skooch her off. Speaking of Sasha, she has another “thing” on her neck. At first it felt like a lump but it may be a scab from scratching. She’s not letting me take a good look. She remembers what happened last time I found a lump — three vet visits and surgery. She keeps talking about boundaries!

This is their first sighting. In minutes it was turned over, dirt was on the floor and a few branches were broken. It’s ok now and growing.
Neighbor Dot brought over a catnip plant. Before I could put it in a proper pot, the cats had it rolling on the floor. It’s potted up now and doing well. I have it outside and bring a snip or two in for them to enjoy.
All of us here are keeping a low profile this holiday weekend. Our temperatures are raging. Mother Nature is having hot flashes. We are struggling to make sure all our plantings and critters have enough water.
Wishing you all a great and not too hot weekend.

Another hot one here Kate. Seems it’s going to get wafrmer over the weekend again.

Those lucky kitty cats with the catnip!! I laughed so hard about the water glass nudge. YES! I have been the victim of that prank, too. hahaha

It’s one of those things mama cat teaches her kids along with only barfing on textiles!

Had a new one this morning. Found the bar on the ivory carpet between two heavy pieces of furniture–narrow spot, hard to clean. Yup.

Gus and Sasha were serious about wanting catnip! Laughing at the vision I have of them rolling that poor plant. Good to hear it is potted, outside and doing well. The toona festival is a new thing. I hope the tuna there is better than the mess they are putting in cans these days. I can’t even eat that tuna anymore and I loved tuna all kinds of different ways. I miss my Starkist Selects solid white albacore. If you know a good solid white albacore Iet me know. Hope you are able to enjoy your picnic tomorrow!

I’ll ask Sasha for a toona recommendation but she’s not fussy. It may be Friskies!

LOL!!!
It would probably be better than what they are selling to peeps these days

I can just picture Sasha in a terry robe getting her nails done with cucumbers on her eyes. I really like that part, but then always hungry for a nice big salad. That Tuna Festival sounds fishy. 🙂
And that Gus is quite the man, making sure you eat enough. Next he’ll be in the kitchen cooking.
It’s 100 degrees here in the Big Apple. Tomorrow might be a little cooler they say. We’ll see. Everyone you see looks about to faint, including me.
In an event, Happy 4th Peep to you all those you love. 🙂

My cats are lucky to live in a/c. So am I! Sasha will be sashaying around swishing her tail totally oblivious of the heat.

I can see her Sasha-shaying, the Mae West of cats. 🙂

Happy Fourth! We are under the Heat Dome too . . . so outdoor activities have to be EARLY or LATE.
It did seem reasonable last night by 7 pm so we may go to some 4th of July festivities and fireworks this evening. Tomorrow, we’re heading to the Farmer’s Market early. They’re jazzing it up for the 250th Birthday. On the way home, we may swing by Blackadder Brewing for a $2.50 pint of 250 Ale. Tomorrow night, PBS is LIVE streaming an event from Colonial Williamsburg. We plan to tune in for that.
Enjoy that catnip, kitties . . . with a margarita (or two) for Kate!

I’m hoping it’s reasonable tomorrow! Warm but reasonable! It’s too bad that we can’t have last weekend’s weather. So many activities are getting cancelled.

Your kitties have a lot going on this holiday weekend. It’s too damn hot to do much of anything, and our critters are pretty quiet. Dogs get walked by 7 am, and I do all my pet sits very early in am (since some include watering outside plants) and get my butt home where it is cooler. We were supposed to go to an outside jazz concert tonight, but the couple we’re going with invited us for dinner in their air-conditioned home instead. Seemed like a good idea. Tell Gus bumping your arm when you’re drinking is pretty funny, but might get old (for you, not him.) Hope the temperatures moderate soon. Funny how 80 degrees now sounds cool.

There were 3 outdoor concerts we wanted to hit this year. Two are done and we didn’t attend either because of weather. The next one is next Friday so fingers crossed for that. We have a picnic tomorrow. I’m conflicted. It’s with people I only see once a year yet….weather??? We may go for a little big. I’ve been watering my pots twice a day early morning and after dinner. The Gus thing is already old. I make him get off when I want to drink so there are consequences.

For the picnic, stay well hydrated and protected from sun. I can’t stand to be out longer than it takes Gracie to pee in the backyard right now. After the morning walk, it is just quick visits to the backyard for the rest of the day. We can almost tolerate going out about 9 pm for bedtime potty break in the yard. Ugh. Poor Gus – he was just trying to have a little fun!

Unfortunately there are only umbrellas and a canopy, none of which really helps. The heat of the sun will come through but we’ll see. It’s supposed to be a bit cooler tomorrow. Not a lot but maybe it will make a difference. You couldn’t get me to go pee in the backyard in this heat. Oh wait! You couldn’t get me to pee in the backyard ever!

You’re too funny!! Luckily Gracie is fine going into the backyard to pee. Better on the grass than being out on sidewalks in this heat.

What? A tuna festival? I didn’t hear about that – Ted didn’t tell me and while I DO have a can of tuna in the cupboard I had personal plans for it. I suppose I could sacrifice it for the sake of a festival though. Catnip plants are dangerous in the house that’s for sure…..they are only safe living inside if surrounded by barbed wire. Barbed wire is not an attractive accent (except in prison I suppose). Anyway, we hope you all stay cool this holiday weekend…..when people say “stay cool” they obviously are not fighting 100+ temps day after day right? We are ready for some WET and it may visit us all next week! That is what’s keeping us going…….
Big Hugs! Pam and Teddy

Our current weather is something we haven’t experienced in this area for 30 years. Our heat waves are usually in the 90’s, not the 100’s. We are very whiny about this! I don’t feed the cats tuna (or any fishI) often because its’ not good for Gus’s urinary track. Maybe for a big holiday (that no one can celebrate because it’s too dang hot!) he’ll have tuna appetizers. I’m breaking out a margarita!

Dang…..margarita sounds good…..I’m having iced tea which is nowhere near as much fun as a margarita!

No, you wouldn’t. Louis on steroids. The only good thing is that he doesn’t do it often or for long.
