Sasha the magnificent here. What a week! We have contractors IN THE HOUSE! I barely get my breakfast down then I must find a hidey spot.
The big excitement this week was that Gus got out. OUT OF THE HOUSE! We cats know we have a good gig, so we don’t try to get out but the peep went out and left the sliding screen door open. It was open for a long time. (She says a half hour but in cat time that’s days especially when it comes to treats!) She came up on the deck and found him sunning himself and generally enjoying the great outdoors. He was only missing a margarita and some music. She totally flipped out. He saw the crazy eyes and decided to go back into the house. He got hugs and smoochies for being a good boy. (Hey, I’m the one that didn’t go out at all. What about me?)
We both got a treat. She knows better than to give just one of us something. We would go on strike with picket cards. Or maybe call Cat Protective Services. We have rights.

That caper was exhausting. We needed a nap. The mean peep woke us up for a picture because she was so freaked out she didn’t get one of Gus on the deck!
All is good now. Her blood pressure is back down but Gus looks longingly at the deck remembering his brief sunning experience. We miss our old, screened porch where you could smell the chipmunk poop and tease the squirrels.
Life moves on but have a great weekend!
Editor’s Note: Our dog friend Phenny from Easy Blog had surgery yesterday. He’s not a young’un so surgery is risky, but he is recovering. Our hearts go out to the house. It brings back memories of when Gus had major surgery that took weeks to mend. It’s not easy to watch your bestie suffer. Hugs.

Ooh dear!! I hope your peep had a margarita after she found you! She deserved two!

I’m glad all is well. What an adventure!!!!

The adventure was more on Gus’s side. The anxiety was on the peep’s side. Gus loved the deck and I wish I could trust him to just sit there. But you know…squirrels, birds, curiosity.

Do you think one of the contractors left a door open and enabled The Great Guscape?

No it was definitely me. It was the back door which the contractor didn’t use.

Maybe your peep could get a large, collapsible cage and put a fluffy bed in it and let you out to sleep in the sun in safety.

I like that idea but it would have to be big enough for Sasha too. I wish we could screen the area in but it’s not set up for that.

I’m glad Gus stayed on the deck instead of venturing farther afield!

Me too. We had a scare early on one day when we couldn’t find Sasha. We had house guests and were afraid she got out. We had moved about 4 months before. We were all over the neighborhood only to find her in the basement rafters.

Glad you went right back inside Gus. And you deserve extra treats Sasha for staying inside. XO

I am a good boy. My favorite squeeze lives in that house and I couldn’t leave her.

Sasha, how in the world did you let Gus slip away for a snooze out in the sun? I totally don’t get why Gus got a treat after going outside when you were an angel and stayed inside, but sometimes when humans are happy and relieved about something, anything goes. You’re lucky your main squeeze is back inside and the picture-taking is the two of you; too bad the Peep forgot to get a shot outside. I hope your dog friend Phenny is doing better now.

The peep was all clingy after that. Always checking on us and waking us up! She’s got to get a life!

Luckily cats have nine lives, but that doesn’t mean you two have to try and use them up and scare the Peep!

The peep doesn’t have 9 lives so they shouldn’t do that for sure!

I agree!

Sasha, glad Gus is back indoors and safe. Cute photo of you two napping. I hope you both let your Mom have a good weekend.

If you mean boring, probably. It’s going to be hot so she’ll be inside most of the time!

Well who wouldn’t enjoy an unauthorized sunning experience! Good for you Gus but it’s a good thing you didn’t go walkabout – the Mom would have gone berserk. So the contractor experience has begun huh? Good luck. Hope it all goes smoothly and on time, etc. We have been worried about dear Phenny – he has the worst luck with that ear…..hopefully this latest surgery will BE IT. He’s definitely “done his time” with the whole thing as has his poor Mom and Dad.
Hugs, Pam and Teddy

I had to look his problem up as I wasn’t familiar with it. Poor pup. Cone and ear wrap. That’s the worst!

At least he’s safe. Can understand the panic though.

He’s a good cat. He didn’t run as I was slowly panicking. He just casually walked into the house like he does this every day.

Maya will happily sit in the boot of the car with the gates open and not move, even if another dog goes by.

Now he has a memory and story to tell. Thank goodness it was a brief stint on the outside 🥰
I am laughing at your reaction, because I know exactly how that felt.

Pure terror. I was afraid he would see me freaking out and run! He didn’t. He just said, “she’s being weird again. Where is my worm toy?”

Hahaha! I know my dogs said that many times in their life! I can picture the hysteria.

I love this story especially the part with Gus sipping a Margherita. Will say a prayer for Phenny.

He was having a great time. I was surprised that Sasha didn’t join him but she was inside napping.

We women need our beauty rest no matter what else is happening. Does Sasha wear an eye mask to keep out the sun? 🙂

No but maybe she should. She seems to nap fine without it.

Gus knows a good thing when he’s got it! He knew the advantages of a deck, Sasha. Gus, don’t scare the Lady Peep like that! You two look so sleepy. A nice photo of you having/trying to have a little nap. I read in comments that Gus comes when called… he is such a good boy. Our Z Cat came when called. Probably thinking treats or being scooped up in my arms being smothered with kisses… she loved that.

Kate – I’m not trying to pry, but I am merely curious: where are you located? Somewhere in the Midwest? I live in Indiana. At this time, I’m putting together a new blog about the Midwest and I’m wondering if I might mention your outstanding Views and Mews . . . . .

Oh dear…Gus…you added years on your poor mum. Glad all is back to normal now…but no more outdoor capers, dude. Ok? We’re keeping our fur-iend, Phenny in our thoughts and prayers. Have a great weekend.

I would have had a heart attack! They do miss that screened in porch, but so glad all is well. I’m sorry I won’t get to come by this weekend and give them a chin scratch….not that Sasha would appear anyway.

Gus is not a runner (fortunately). He is an adventurer and has walked into the garage when that door was open (but not the door to outside) but he’s not a fan of the garage. Sasha is sorry she will miss hiding from you! We all miss the screened porch. A deck is not the same. I open the upstairs window for them and they DO NOT lie there. Morgan was the fan of that.

They’re just on strike missing their screened in porch. An open window just doesn’t cut it!
