Sasha here. We’ve had lots of friends, the furry and wing kind, visit this week.
Yesterday the peeps had their carpets cleaned. The peep said it was overdue. There were lots of barfs (that’s us) and spills (that’s the peeps). She also said there was a lot of imbedded cat hair. Not sure about that but the cleaning did kick up large clumps. She talked about knitting a blanket. (Don’t worry. She’s all talk and no knit!)
While the cleaner was here the door was propped open to allow hoses to come in. We welcomed one greenhead fly, one lightning bug and a smaller fly. We haven’t caught the greenhead yet but he will not be rehomed.
There is a mama doe and her two babies that come through our yard frequently (hopefully on their way to tastier pastures). The peep had to photograph from inside. She didn’t want to scare them.
Then our favorite squirrel was splooting on our deck rail. Silly squirrel! This shot was also from inside. Same reason.
He is very camera shy. We are working on a name for him. Bucky? Fuzzy? The peeps mostly call him dang squirrel because he leaves walnut shells all over the deck. We don’t have any walnut trees!
Have a weekend full of friends, furry or otherwise!

Nice to hear from you, Sasha! Lovely to see your new wildlife friends – they are beautiful! It must be hot out for the squirrel to be splooting so close to the house like that 🙂

It was hot but the railing was in shade so that wasn’t hot.

Love those backyard visitors (well not the flies-thankfully you didn’t take any pics of them). The deer made me smile. The backyard is so peaceful looking; it must be great fun watching the parade from inside.

Well, you have better TV to watch then we do, Sasha. All we get are chipmunks and birds lately. Maybe we will get a deer soon, too.

At our last house we got funny looking cats. The peep called them wild turkeys. Cats with feathers who would have thought!

I would love to look outside and see deer, especially a mama and her fawns, in the backyard. Nope, I have critters like the groundhog (a few years ago) and now and then pesky possums. I tell myself “oh ya, possums eat ticks” … but still. That poor squirrel splooting. It’s been so hot for them. It looks like you have some shade in your yard, or else that metal railing would be scorching him/her for sure!

That part of the railing is under cover and near a tree so it was likely cool. I haven’t seen a possum here but we must have them. We have a lot of wooded areas around.

That squirrel has found a permanent spot to seek shade on hot days. I had never seen one until the one in the trap which was pretty angry with me. Then I “met” its potential family member a few days later, also in the trap.

We don’t trap anything here. They go where the food is. If you remove one, another will move in. It’s all woods in back of us so it would be useless.

That makes sense. The pest control service said they release the groundhog five miles away in a wooded area. I said “Council Point Park is a mile from here and we have a groundhog or two there I see occasionally – you could just release it there.” He said “one mile away is not far enough as it will come back to its territory.”

Really nice yard you have. It always seemed a shame to throw out all that cat hair that I cleaned off everything. I have a friend that spins yarn. I don’t know if she could do animal hair or not. If we had claws and eyes, there was enough for another cat, though.

Cute photos! It’s so nice to have deer outside your door. Sometimes I see them on the front lawn of my condo.

When they frequent your yard, it limits your planting options. They have already mowed down my hosta and nipped my hydrangea. I try to plant things they don’t like but it’s tough.

We had scarfs made out of our dog’s fur. Not from the carpet though. 😁 We saved it from his groomings. That squirrel reminded me of the commercial, “Well, the squirrels are back. Your father says it’s personal now.” 😄
Have a nice weekend. 🌼

That would be cool to have scarves from your pets!

You probably saw this back in 2020, but here’s a link to where I wrote about the fur scarves. I put a link to where we had it done, but you have to scroll through the other nonsense to get to the scarves, about halfway down.

The scarves are beautiful but the vendor isn’t doing it anymore.

Oh no. Thanks for letting me know about that vendor.

OhMyGosh, that squirrel has found a 5 star resort, Sasha! Take my word for it, he will not be shy for long. Our little brown Fox squirrels on the Tiny Ten had us cracking the black walnuts for them. Lightning bugs… we never see them here 😦
Have a wonderful weekend Sassy Cats and Peeps!

He is only camera shy. Without the camera he will moon the us cats! 🙂 Don’t worry, we moon him back!

Sasha, you get funnier every week. Best line…all talk, no knit. You’re a regular Joan Rivers, just with a tale, pun intended. Please remember me to your brother Gus, and leave a note for the Peep telling her I love the deers loping through the backyard.

At least the squirrel isn’t ripping the stuffing out of the cushions trying to bury the walnuts?
LikeLiked by 1 person
So far not but he is trying to bury them in my window boxes occasionally pulling out a plant to make room.

This is why I loathe my neighbors who insist on giving the squirrels shelled peanuts.
LikeLiked by 1 person
We don’t have to feed them. There is a lot of food in the wooded area in back of us. Lots of walnut trees. So they buy them already shelled? That’s no fun but probably less mess.

That squirrel looks like he or she doesn’t have a care in the world. Must be nice!!

I have a bird bath for water, a bird feeder for food and comfy furniture. It’s somewhat protected from predators. What’s not to love!
