We had a snowstorm and bitter cold weather (for us) this week. Not much was going on except lots of sleeping and bird watching.
Although this picture is blurry, the neighbor’s outdoor cats were trying to catch rays and a snooze on their deck box.
And here is an old one from Calvin and Hobbes.
Have a glorious and warm weekend!

Even the birds look cold, Kate! And the poor outdoor kitties–are they okay? It feels too cold for outdoor cats, but I tend to treat my animals like people. Ha!

I saw the outdoor kitties sunning themselves yesterday and they were happy to see the sunshine. They have heated huts and two meals a day. I feel sorry for outdoor cats who don’t have that.

Heated homes! That’s something we don’t see here in the west, so it didn’t even occur to me. But I can see they’re well cared for. And you’re right, all the animals that are “on their own” tug at my heart!

LOL! Love the pics of your cozy cats snoozing away, along with what’s on cat TV right now 🙂 It has been pretty cold here too – we got hit with the polar vortex. But it will be warming up over the next couple of days, so that’s a break!

Snoozing and eating are what they do best!

Love the lovers doing the snooze-a-rama on a winter’s day. Stay warm. It snowed again with very cold temps. Again. I think I shoveled 5 or 6 times yesterday. I’m hoping that system is moving out with warmer temps in the forecast. 🤞🏼

I got the last of the ice off of the front stoop today. We will go above freezing during the day for most of this week. Yay!

Only 25 here but the warm up begins in earnest tomorrow. Our temps will be in the 40’s and maybe even a day in the low 50’s. Color me happy!

It is a good life for the Sassy Cats! Sasha and Gus… they are truly bonded. Sweet photos. Mourning Doves—I am especially amused and charmed by them. I relate to their state of what seems to be constant befuddlement. That is a great cartoon! We are finally at the end of our hibernation today. Started at 36° this morning and starting today the temp goes up and up. Hope you are staying warm. Do you still make your Starbuck’s run in single-digit temps? Heated seats on… check!

Yes for Starbucks. I have heated seats and a heated steering wheel.

I’m glad the kitties are warm. They look quite comfy, too!!

My cats are warm and comfy inside. The outdoor ones are too. They have heated huts (you can see one with the black dome in the picture).

We didn’t turn the corner as anticipated and it snowed again today and a little more expected tomorrow, so the balmy 32 degrees isn’t until Monday now. I keep lamenting that it’s only January. Cat TV was very good – too bad Morgan was the only one watching it. 🙂

It’s Gus that loves the cat TV! He’s upset that you thought his wonderful gingerness was Morgan, the gray blob (that’s what he calls her). They have their moments.

Ha ha – I thought that Gus and Sasha were so busy canoodling that they didn’t catch cat TV. Please give Gus my apologies. (The gray blob – no way!)

Great photos, Kate. But please don’t send any snow our way. I love being snowless so far this winter. ❤

The heating pad is a great idea. Bet mine would love that too.

It’s made especially for cats. Someone is almost always on it. In the past, it was Gracie’s spot but this year it’s a free for all.

I wish people would keep their cats inside- especially when it is so cold. Glad yours are safe and warm.

Me too. My next door neighbor has 2 indoor cats and the outdoor ones are semi-feral and won’t come in. She has heated huts for them along with 2 meals a day. They are around 6 which is a good age for outdoor cats but I’m with you. Too much worry with outdoor cats. I much prefer them indoors driving me crazy.

It’s been cold here…in the high 20’s low 30’s. We even had a dusting of snow. Unusual for central SC.

We should see the 30s tomorrow but that will be the first time in over a week.

I love what was on cat tv! The cats know how to handle winter -hibernate.

They do. At our last house they watched mostly chipmunks and squirrels but here it’s all about the birds.

I love the picture of them snuggling. No one quite naps like a cat. And Sasha on the heating pad. She’s such a girl. Made me laugh. Hope it warms up soon.

We are looking for warmer (but not warm) temps for the next 4 days or so before our next cold wave. I’m not a fan of this time of year. I just don’t want to go out.

I must admit I don’t want to get out of bed most mornings lately. Take care.

I love Calvin and Hobbes snowmen comics, cuddly kitties and mourning doves. I do not so much love the cold weather. We are having a slight warming trend but try as I might, I can’t convince myself that winter is over. Stay warm out there!

A warming trend to me would involve the 60s. Not gonna be there before March at the earliest!

We’re supposed to be around 50 tomorrow and I will have a couple nights I don’t need to leave the tap dripping. That’s practically a heat wave! The 60s sound very nice. I hope March gets here soon.

It’s almost February, isn’t it?

February is traditionally our coldest month with the most likelihood of heavy snow. But you just never know what’s going to happen with the weather.

End of January is our coldest time and February is our snowiest month. I’m hoping for an early spring!

Those little mourning doves look very puffed out, keeping those feathers poofed so they stay warm. Brrrr. Amazing that now 28 degrees feels downright tropical after some very cold days. The Arctic should stay in the Arctic…now sure who invited it down here.
LikeLiked by 2 people
I didn’t invite it for sure. I’m done with snow. We got some water in our basement from a heat pump component because of the super cold weather. We had to clean up the floor but it’s all good now. You get these little surprises in cold weather. Our front stoop is still icy and the melting stuff isn’t working. We blocked it with a wooden horse. Maybe today!

Yikes on the snow sharks…..I’ll have to keep an eye out for those! We have “old snow” at this point since we haven’t had snow in several days – but it’s so cold the old stuff isn’t going anywhere. Chance of a couple of days in the 40s next week – we’re hopeful. Love the photos – those lovers really are beyond adorable….really. Keep warm!
Hugs, Pam

Our snow is getting old too but it isn’t melting. We are hopeful to get above freezing maybe over the weekend or early next week. Nothing much going on with the cats (and I’m not complaining about that!) Morgan and Gus got into some stare downs. Gus wolfs his food down and Morgan dines delicately savoring every morsel. Then Gus is annoyed because Morgan has food left and he doesn’t. Argh!

I think it hit 80 degrees here yesterday, though the temperature plummets at night because the humidity is about 15%. But that’ supposed to change and there might even be rain for us this weekend! Wish us a wet one (but not too wet because then we have debris in the ocean and shifting hillsides).

80? That’s just a memory here. We are hoping for 40. Wishing you some pleasant rain showers and no deluge!

I’d rather be on that heating pad than outside being chased by snow sharks!
Calvin & Hobbes was the best!

I’ve often wondered if the author calls on his youth for inspiration when creating the Calvin and Hobbes cartoons.

I expect he drew from experience . . . by channeling his inner child. 😀

Experience. That’s what I was thinking. I’d love to interview his parents.
