Sassy cats – A normal summertime week in the clowder!

Gracie: Here I am sleeping between the cat beds.

Hi all, Gracie here. The peep took this week off from blogging. She calls it a “vacation.” I call it “lazy.” It’s been hot here. Not hot like some places, but hot for us. We may hit 100 degrees today (37.7 degrees C). Us cats have been moody. Morgan isn’t eating much. That’s not like her but she’s a cat. We all do as we please even when it makes the peep nuts. Especially when it makes the peep nuts.

Gus: Get away with that dang camera!

Mostly we’ve been sleeping but not in the sunspots. Gus, who thinks he’s the sun god because of his ginger fur, still takes a short nap in the sun but then moves to a cool spot. Sometimes Sasha sleeps on top of the air conditioning vent.

Morgan sleeping on the top of the cat tree.

The peep tried to give Gus his L lysine supplement (good for his immune system and eye issues) this morning (first time since his UTI) and he started the round robin food chain. He didn’t like it, so he moved to Sasha’s dish and ate her food. She moved to Morgan’s dish and Morgan ate the supplement food. The peep rolled her eyes. Morgan is a very healthy cat and doesn’t need anything extra. No one eats my food if I am actively eating. I may be little but I’m mighty.

Sasha sleeping on the bed. One of her favorite daytime spots.

We have a few pictures from this week. Guess what we are all doing? Yep, sleeping! We are cats!

Have a great weekend!

  1. Good snoozy photos – it’s too hot to do anything other than take naps and Teddy has been doing that inside the house thankfully. He has only asked to go outside ONCE escorted by his Mom and Dad and that was a quick trip just to check to make sure nobody had invaded his favorite spots out there then back inside the cool house he came!

  2. Well Gracie, no visitors or cat calamities make for a week of calm. I wish I were napping instead of sitting here waiting for this severe storm to roll in overnight, the second severe storm this week. This weather and Summer is making me old!

  3. I don’t mean to brag (well… maybe a little) but – so far – we’ve been very lucky weather-wise here in the southwest corner of the US. We still don’t have AC (although we continue to discuss it) and, luckily, haven’t needed it anyway. I love all the pictures of the furballs napping. It’s one of my favorite thing to do – heat or not.

  4. In all my years of amassing, tending, rescuing, living with and loving cats, I have never heard the word clowder. Thank you for enlightening me!

  5. I would be happy to be sleeping through this heat wave just like the cats. Too dang warm, though I’m glad we’re not in the Southwest and other places where it is way more than too dang warm. Still, looking forward to move moderate temps come Sunday.

  6. We hope the heat breaks across the country. I mean, seriously how long can Mother Nature keep up this non-stop scalding? Nice pics of the kitties which reminds me to go find a new bed/pillow and take a nap.

  7. Hottest July on record since 1850!
    Let’s hope temps moderate soon!

We had a visit from our 2 year old Grandnephew this week and were happy to have cloudy overcast skies (keeping temps in the mid-80’s) during the day and sunnier skies for the pool and beach at 6-8 pm. Perfect!

    Or maybe purr-fect!

    • That is purr-fect! I always enjoyed cloudy mornings at the Jersey shore. Beach time was sunny but having coffee on the deck without blaring sun in your eyes is perfect!

    • No. Our house is air conditioned. It still gets warm when the sun blares in the big front windows in the afternoon. They can go to the basement which is always cool but they rarely do. I do keep their water cold.
