Peep here. Gracie is missing today. We haven’t been able to find her this morning. She’s not in her usual favorite spots. She didn’t come out for breakfast (which is not unusual). I did find a few mini-barfs so she must be around.
At times like this, I have conflicting feelings. I want to know where she is, but I don’t want to disturb her if she found a new favorite spot because she will pester the daylights out of me. She walks on the keyboard; rubs her face on the screen (which does weird things) and puts her rump in my face. I’ll give her a little time to come out before I go full-scale ballistic. I know she didn’t get outside so no real worries.
There wasn’t much activity on the bath project this week which translates into not many strangers coming and going. Even though Sasha likes that, she preferred to sleep under the upstairs bed. You know…just in case. The good news is that she didn’t pester me for lunch (and brunch, post-lunch snack, high tea and happy hour snackies). However, she still pats my face at 6 a.m. to remind me that breakfast is due. Gotta love cats. (Note to self: Adopt goldfish in my next life!)
That’s the news here. Hopefully, Gracie will be back next week dishing dirt.
The gang here says, “have a great weekend.”
PS: There has been a “Gracie spotting.” She was upstairs among the boxes of stuff from the bathroom. She just hopped on my desk to cause havoc! Maybe she’ll talk about her secret adventure next week.

So glad Gracie was found! And glad that Sasha has her safe space, especially if it means she is pestering a little bit less 🙂

I grew up with cats, and I still recall the heart-stopping moment when you started to wonder; “is my cat just being a cat…. or is it something more?”
Lovely post, Linda xx

Yes! Especially when it’s out of character for the cat. I go right to the macabre. Is she dead? Sick? Caught in something? Every time she comes out an hour or so later. She’s just not a morning cat.

So relatable… I’m just not a morning person!!🙃

Oh God, I read this post feeling a bit sick … but then a wave of relief came as I read that Gracie was ok! I should know better as someone whose cat goes AWOL all the time.

I wasn’t worried at first but it was well over an hour before she came out. She’s an older cat and I always worry that she died under a pile of something and I won’t find her.

I have two indoor babes. Bitsy and Minnie. They were tiny when they came here. Both are rejects from someone trying to breed Siamese or Himalayan, but these aren’t up to “standards “. Bits has long white hair with two blankets across her back and blue eyes. Min is blue with yellow and white dots. She can really yodel!!! Gotta love ‘em.

Sounds like they are up to our standards just fine!

I am sure I commented here… maybe in spam? If so, this will be the third time I have been sent to spam this week. I must be typing what WP thinks is a naughty word. Gracie is missed from telling us the Sassy Cat news. I am glad she showed up at your desk to wreak havoc… er, keep you company and straighten your desk. Have a quiet weekend, Sassy Cats and Peeps!

She’s got a new hidey spot upstairs. She likes to challenge me to find it!

Yeah, Gracie may have a great story to tell!! Glad all is well.

This makes no sense. Our upstairs is hot. The central AC doesn’t do a great job up there because of the large foyer window. Yet, they love being up there in the heat and that’s where she was. Hiding behind boxes. Cats are weird.

I would love to hear what they are thinking!!

We are simmering…no roasting…maybe a broil. Anyhow it’s a hot one here.

Glad Gracie is OK. Never a dull moment with cats. I think goldfish would be boring. XO

Some boredom would be good. Especially after this spring with Gus and his surgery.

If your place was anything like mine, the fireworks kept Gracie awake. I heard fireworks ’til 1:00 a.m. – thankfully tonight is the last night for fireworks (until 11:45 p.m.), which our Mayor has allowed since June 29th!

They are usually done by 10 around here. We’ll see if they continue all weekend.

They just started here … we never did get our storm (which is fine with me).

Gracie is one slick chick. Keeps you guessing, just to mess with your head.

The bride ordered some Apple tags that can be attached to cat collars so we can locate the twins before going out. They have a penchant for hiding out in the backyard just as we are planning to depart. One day in and they seem to work fine, though Simon acts as if an anvil has been placed around his neck! Peace of mind and all that.

Smart move. If I had an outdoor cat I would definitely do that.

I know this feeling well: on the one hand, it’s too quiet, and maybe a door got left open, OMG, I have to find the cat (or dog, or child)! On the other…gosh, it sure would be nice to finish a cup of coffee in peace.

Yes, then come out from behind something and I wondered why I worried and didn’t enjoy the peace and quiet.

She didn’t want to be pestered by humans that want to hug her.

Well, a girl like Gracie does need a break now and then. I totally understand. I think it was very nice of you to leave her be to recharge, and lets face it, can’t be always a day at the beach having all those siblings asking silly questions.
Tell her I’ll look forward to next week’s column.

Whew…so glad Gracie has been spotted. I know your kitties are indoor cats but I always freak out when someone is missing. My overactive imagination wonders if cats can pick locks. Enjoy a calm weekend and stay cool.

I had a cat a long time ago that could open doors. She was an indoor-outdoor cat. She also knew how to push a screen out of it’s frame to get out. Thankfully none of the current group are like that.

Yikes…I’d be a basket case with an escape artist like that. Although my first sheepdog, Eliot, was a bit of an escape artist because he figured out how to open the gate to the yard. Just what an overactive brain needs, right?

I get it. Cats can climb over most anything so if you have a Houdini, there’s not much you can do.

I know how you feel when you can’t find a feline. So far this morning Jack is missing. I know he is inside because he is not on the balcony and that is the only access outside. I guess he has found a new hiding spot. You’d think he would be easy to find. It’s a small apartment on tbe ninth floor.😼

If they don’t want to be found, they won’t. Gracie is now resting on her favorite perch, the window ledge in the office.

I’m glad there are Gracie sightings and you know she’s fine. It’s always nerve wracking when you can’t find a kitty. We had a couple days of that during the kitchen renovation, with Gilda in a whole new hiding place. With people going in and out of doors, or leaving the front door open sometimes when loading stuff in or out, it was a little anxiety-provoking. But she’s such a shy cat (like Sasha) we were pretty sure she wouldn’t get anywhere near strange people or open doors.

As a part of the contract, I was instructed to “confine” my cats. None of this group want to go outside. Gus slept in the family room watching the activities. The rest were in their favorite spots except for Sasha who preferred under the bed. No one tried to get out but I did do a nose check at the end of the worker’s day.

We confined Gracie and Ace upstairs in my office, and Carly was leashed to the couch in the living room. We had the laundry room all set up to keep Gilda there, but she was usually gone hiding before folks got here. Luckily no mishaps. We did a cat nose check at the end of the day too!

Glad Gracie turned up but I doubt she’ll ever divulge where she’s been or what she’s been doing – “what happens with Gracie – stays with Gracie!” or something like that. You’d think I’d lose track of Teddy in this house but there are only four spots he EVER hides or snoozes. Now that I’ve said that, he’ll probably abandon those and find new ones – he’s psychic (I’m sure of it!).
Hugs, Pam

You know how it is. You enjoy the peace and quiet but deep down inside you have this worry. She is eating breakfast now. The others ate over an hour ago and think they should have seconds. We don’t know how old Gracie is and she has some issues so I always worry one day I’ll wake up and she will be passed.
