It’s been two months since Gus had surgery for his urinary track issues. He healed fast but it’s taken a long time for his fur to grow back. At this point, it’s still not fully there but if someone doesn’t know how he looked before, they wouldn’t notice it.
His surgical area has healed but there are two stitch threads hanging out. The vet said that they would dissolve and fall off. I can’t help feeling that having too pieces of plastic thread hanging from your butt would be uncomfortable. A call to the vet’s office is in order. Maybe they can snip them. Maybe I can snip them if I can get him to stay still. Poking around cat butts is not in my wheelhouse! (However, if it saves me a vet bill I’m all for it!)
No post is complete without a picture of the lovers canoodling.
Have a great weekend full of fur!

So glad he is on the mend now and also that his fur is growing back!

We are too. Each week more fur grows. The longer fur is starting to grow in. You don’t see the spot where it was shaved unless you look at him in a certain light.

So glad he’s more “clothed” now – had to laugh at the fireplace/”must have been cold in the end” comment.
Gus, don’t fret – no one is talking about your predicament – over and done (fingers crossed). Now back as the celebrity worthy couple

I am so glad to hear that Gus has continued to heal nicely. Sorry that those disposable stitches are not disposing as promised! I would imagine they would be irritating but if he’s not chewing on the area, perhaps let canoodling cats lie.
If you didn’t know what you were looking at you wouldn’t even know he had been shaved. He’s a good looking ginger cat!

I will tell him you said that. He’ll be pleased. We did a close look today. My step-daughter is here and we had a fighting cat on our hands. Turns out the nibs are too short to cut anyway. Everything looks ok. No redness or pus so all is good.

It’s so nice he has his ginger fur back. I am sure it didn’t bother him at all but it makes me feel better he has it back 🙂 He did heal quite well from the surgery. A prayer and fingers crossed he has no UR incident. Happy that all is right in Gus and Sasha’s world♥

Yes, I felt so sorry for him. Sasha didn’t seem to care though. She had her guy back!

Aw, what sweetie pies. I’m glad he’s doing well. What would Sasha do without him?

The two weeks he was isolated in a room (so I could medicate him), she was not happy. I let her in the room but with the cone on, he kept whacking her with it and that didn’t make her happy either. Their world is all right now.

Gus does have his stripes coming back in though … I would not have noticed the lighter color until you pointed it out. Look at the happy couple. 🙂

That’s good … I could barely tell. Yes, it did look that way after his surgery – poor baby.

That does sound unpleasant. I love the photo of the lovebirds.

I know what you mean about how long it takes for the fur to grow back in…I’m still waiting on Elsa’s leg to fill in. Poor girl, she looks like Frankenstein. 🤣

Wow. Two months already. Time is slipping by. Aside from the threads hanging off of him, sounds like he’s recovered well. May the cats and the peeps have a nice weekend.

He has but the real test if he goes through a year without a UR incident. Fingers crossed.

I recommend using churu if you need a cat to sit still. It’s processed food in a tube (like an otter pop) and it’s like crack for cats. We use it for claw clipping and brushing. Hopefully it wouldn’t interfere with his diet?

Everything interferes with his diet but it’s worth a try. We gets into “non-UR” food all the time. It’s on the list of questions I have for my vet when he goes for a dental pre-check.

Good to hear Gus is back to normal. If the hanging threads aren’t bothering Gus try not to let them bother you. I know easier said than done.😺

He’s always back there so I think it does bother him. They are not thin thread strands but a thicker black type.

For some reason, I didn’t expect his skin to be so white, even though I saw it two months ago! Thank goodness for fur.
Thanks for the picture of the happy couple. It’s always good to see. They are cat celebrities!

It’s been growing so slowly (at least it seems so to me) that I always refer back to his fresh mown pics to see the difference. I couldn’t believe how white his skin was without fur!

Yay on Gus healing well and I don’t blame you for wanting to snip the hairs yourself.
Awh on the lovers pic, so sweet. Happy weekend to all of you! 🙂

Gus has paid his dues in the butt surgery department – I betcha he’d appreciate a “non-back to that mean vet guy” solution to the threads hanging thing. On the other hand if he’s not bothered by them…….Maybe (I know that’s a big maybe) if someone held him you could snip those things off before he knew what hit him! He looks great though and a good canoodle really helps a guy feel better after a “thread snip” OR an operation.
Hugs, Pam

Oh God, yes! My heart hurt when I saw his naked butt. He would sleep next to the fire in the fireplace at night. I bet it was drafty without his fur.
