Random 3 for October 11, 2026 – Fall clean up, flowers, drudgery work

It’s a short one today. It wasn’t an interesting week and no amount of snark can make it interesting!

Clean up week – There is a sadness about pulling out all the annual flowers. One day beautiful flowers are bouncing around your yard and the next day they are gone. I always do it before the first frost because the weather gets iffy after that. I don’t like working outside in the cold. I must get used to the bare look. It will be bare until May.

No mum yet – I usually plop a nice chrysanthemum on the front stoop after I pull the flowers. I was scheduled to make a trip to a big garden center, but my body said nope not today. I can pick one up locally but a day trip with a friend is a lot more fun.

This and that – It was a week of visiting retirement communities, reviewing health care plans and other equally uninteresting things. There is a lot of stuff that needs renewal or review this time of year. Truth be told I don’t like spending time on it at any time of the year. This is almost as bad as doing taxes!

Here is your thought for today!

So how was your week?

  1. I very much second today’s thought! Yum, yum. I think I’m finished with watering the potted plants. It’s been toasty all week (recording breaking in fact) and I’m tired of schlepping heavy watering cans to keep them around. I’ll bring in the hibiscus and the rosemary plant to overwinter but I’m done with watering. I have to switch to leaf removal for the next six months since it’ll likely take that long for all the cottonwood leaves that multiple like rabbits. Enjoy a peaceful Sunday.

    • I enjoy it but have been cutting back. The summer heat has been brutal to work outside but I like the front and deck to look pretty.
