Here we are again – We are awaiting a snowstorm that is unpredictable. We are sitting in an edge area. We may get 8 to 16 inches of snow (good Lord no!) or 4 to 8 inches (still not happy about that) depending on the shift. We’ve had hype all week. The cats are unimpressed. They are napping on their window ledge as they always do when I’m on my computer. It’s warm and drizzly out and hard to believe that tomorrow morning it will again be a nightmare to shovel. As a child, I remember my excitement about snow. Somewhere over the years, I left it behind along with that umbrella on a bus or train somewhere.
The side effects of a calm week – A boring post. There was no crisis, no cat shenanigans, just a normal peaceful week. For living, I love these weeks. For writing, they are deadly. Bear with me. Maybe next week will bring some tragedy! (Did I say that out loud?)
Hello, goodbye – As glad as I was to welcome the winter Olympics, I am ready to move on. The winter ones are my favorites. Who was that first crazy person who decided to do somersaults 20 feet in the air? On skies? Surely, they are in a padded place and medicated. The chance of breaking a neck is high but watching it was amazing. It almost made me appreciate snow (heck no!). This week I will come out of my happy world and get reconnected with the other nonsense going on. Argh!
Connecting – This week I did my annual connection to an old, dear friend. She lives in another state across the country. It always means an hour phone call. I am not a phone person (my teenage self is laughing at that). Although I haven’t seen her in over a decade, she was a crucial support for some of the most painful moments of my life. I will forever be in her debt for that (and yes will tolerate LONG phone calls!). We spent some time comparing the number of friends we have lost in the last year. She won but not by much. It’s that time of life when you must take the time to enjoy the here and now because it will be dead and gone tomorrow!
Desperation – I am sharing some funny cartoons. I had some new ones but sadly WordPress saw no humor in them and gave me fits during download. Not sure what was going on but here are oldies. (And no, I haven’t reached my photo storage limit!)
This is one I’ve done before but it feels so right.

This morning I watched a video of Alyssa Liu, the gold medal skater. She is so cute. Even if she couldn’t effortlessly do her jumps, I’d love her.
We still haven’t had any snow this year. Fine with me. My daughters in PA and MD have had more than their share.

I hear you on the calm week. Weirdly, everything went right for me last week with regard to people agreeing to do what they said they would, timeframes met, deposits made on time, etc. I won’t get too comfortable with that, though. I like that you talk to someone annually.

We’ve had such a bad couple of months, I keep waiting for the shoe to drop on a peaceful week. She was my bestie when I lived in NJ. I moved in ’95 and I still miss her. Now she lives in Denver so I can’t drive to see her!

I’m here too on the edge of my seat awaiting the predicted avalanche. I’m wondering if what they say is true…20 inches or more, where I could rent dogs and a sled.

The predictors are going crazy. Most are downsizing our snowfall (but still substantial). There will be a small area what will see very small amounts (under 5″). Hope that’s us. If not this too shall pass. Cats are oblivious. Chewy delivered their food so they are happy.

Well, hooray for boring weeks sometimes. Even if there’s not much to write about, quiet weeks are just peachy. First this storm was 1-3 inches, gradually became 4-8. Ugh. Mother Nature doesn’t care for being predictable. I’m just glad I don’t have any pet sits to do Monday morning, since Sunday overnight is supposed to be the majority of whatever snow we get. So tired of winter, but then I’m always weary of the gray and brown about this time. Ready for some green and primary colors.

Me too. Our predictions are all over the place. Hoping for a pass. I expect mahjongg will be cancelled tomorrow. Us older ladies don’t like traveling in snow.

Yep I hear ya. Same deal here in Virginia…..who knows what – be prepared for the end of the world OR get your bathing suit out cause you might need it. We’re just sitting tight and watching the world go by PERIOD. Hoping for no ICE – we can handle 3-5 inches of snow (that’s the ACTUAL prediction for us). Sigh. SPRING…….WHERE ART THOU?

The storm looks like a big fat headache for NY, NJ, PA, MD, and New England. Let’s hope it melts faster than the last storm.
We had gorgeous weather yesterday . . . and another freeze warning set for Monday and Tuesday night. CRAZY WEATHER!

We are on the border between two different belts with significant snow predictions. Always the optimist, I’m hoping for a total miss (not likely but if you’re wishing, go for the stars!). I’ve been reading about your iguanas. I can relate to them.

Cold and windy! The cat was burrowing under the covers, wondering why we even have central heating if we don’t turn it on when the house is 55 degrees.
