Sassy cats – Breaking news!

Sasha here. It was a crazy week with a capital K. First there was the massive ant invasion so there was a stranger here poking around and putting out traps. I stayed under the bed. Next up the peep had a carpenter prep a window so she could get a shade to block out the summer sun. (More under the bed time.)

Then she had someone mulch the planting beds. Fortunately, he didn’t come inside. He must have heard about how ferocious I am. Besides we didn’t need any mulch inside.

Lastly there was the mice capade. It happened when the lady peep was out. The male peep had to deal with it. He couldn’t find the mouse catcher (deli cup and hardboard to slide under) so he had to find new stuff. We proudly brought the mouse upstairs for him to see. He swooped in and escorted it outside. ☹ Seriously? That was a new friend.

The lady peep knows that mice come in pairs so there was one on the loose somewhere. The next day the male peep found a dead mouse in his workshop. It must have had a heart attack (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it).

That’s the week except that the carrier is out. That means someone is going to the vet. The peep gave me a pill this morning so it may be me. I’m still gonna sing my heart out. I’ll pick an aria from Carmen. Those are my favorites.

Have a great weekend. Make friends with new wildlife and sing your heart out!

Over and out!

  2. I read in comments the V E T peeps shaved your booty, Sasha! Too bad you can’t just put a hat on it… that’s what I do when my hairdresser cuts too much off on my head. But you do have that beautiful floofy tail to manage the predicament. Good to hear all is well with your glucose. So much news, Sasha! Sorry you had to spend so much time UTB. I’m betting the ants are history by now… fingers crossed. I am going to do my best and sing my heart out… turn up some Yacht Rock and sing!

    • Ants and mice are gone at least for now. I’m hoping for a nice quiet day. Tomorrow is more UTB time when guests come to eat. I feel sorry for them. They don’t get the good food from Chewy but some strange looking stuff.

  3. What an exciting week. I don’t know how you keep that house in order Sasha, but I’m glad the peep has you there to make sure all is running well. Sorry about the doctor visit but it is probably for the best.

    • It did. The vet said my itchy ears are from allergies. Next time I get all scratchy she will try Zyrtec to see if that helps. There isn’t any infection or mites. Blood glucose was higher than it is at home but not diabetes high.

  4. Whew, what a week Sasha and it was topped off by a vet visit on top of it! Well I hope you’ll at least get a nice Easter treat for that misery. And a mouse too – well how thoughtful of you all to help out! A new friend you say … well, only if it’s Mickey or Minnie. Hopefully, the traps rid you of your ant conundrum – still no ants to report here, but it got up to 80 degrees today, so I’m sure the army is positioned and ready to storm in soon, but on the other hand, it’s cold and rainy off-and-on this weekend, so maybe the ants would prefer to stay tucked away a little bit longer.

      • I hope your ants abandon YOUR residence. I fully expected to find ants this morning after we reached 80 yesterday and we had rain, but not so far. My fingers remain crossed.

          • Well guess who visited me today? Hint: it wasn’t the Easter Bunny! I’ve squished about ten ants already. I was going to make a crockpot meal after I came home from walking, but it was such a gorgeous day I stayed out, walking more and didn’t want to come home. I have hardly any counterspace, so hopefully tomorrow, when I make my Easter crockpot meal, the ants have not arrived in full force. I only have ants on one side – the side where I spend the most time. And there is a spider in the hall on the ceiling. I saw it this morning and am still monitoring it – it is not in a whackable spot and if it’s gone tomorrow morning, knowing it is “at large” will not make me happy.

  5. It’s so cute how you’ve given the cats each their own personality. Sasha’s is different than the other ones. Happy weekend. Hope all is well with Sasha.

  6. Ants AND mice? Double trouble? Not fair. One issue at a time is my limit although I admit we have neither of THOSE issues to deal with (knock on wood). Sounds like you have nipped it in the bud though! WP got the comment issue fixed fairly quickly thankfully – they had announced recently they were upgrading the program (if upgrading includes problems for WP-users then POO on upgrades!). Anyway, all is swell. Enjoy the weekend.

  7. Over the years I have had several cats and none have liked going to the vet. But Sophie loves it. She is all for the attention centered on her. When the carrier comes out she jumps right in.

  8. Uh oh! about the carrier. Hope it isn’t serious. And so sorry for the invasion of ants and mice. All the outdoor neighborhood critters think you have a fantastic home apparently. Let’s hope the larger critters, like the racoons, hedgehogs and such don’t make the same decision.

    • Oh, Auntie Deb we have racoons. They like birdseed! I’m all good. It was a glucose check and while it was higher than it was when the peep tested it, the vet didn’t consider it diabetic high. They shaved my booty. So embarrassing. I sang the song of my people (even with the pill) but she put on Pearl Jam and I was grooving to that.

      • Hooray for the good glucose check!! And I presume the shave is for sanitary purposes. I know it’s embarrassing but so much better than having to get a butt bath, believe me!!

        • The booty shave (is it called a Brazilian?) is more for the peep than me. I only get dingleberries at 11 pm when the peep wants to go to sleep. I make her run around the house trying to catch me.

  9. You said it Sash, Breaking News indeed. From ants to mice, not exactly soup to nuts though nuts can always be applied in some fashion.

Your male Peep sounds so kind, escorting Mickey outside, especially since now he may be a widower, Minnie now in mice heaven…at least we hope. Hate to think he was married to a meanie.

I also don’t mind telling you how envious I am you can hide under the bed. I’ve tried that, but my rather large feet tend to stick out. But I tell himself, Abe Lincoln probably had the same problem so I don’t feel so bad.

Have a nice week Sasha, and give my best to your two siblings…and a special how do ya do to that Gus, who’s so hot.

  10. Oh dear about the ant invasion. Yay for mulch! That will bring pretty flowers. Good luck at the vet Sasha! Keep singing! Though your peep may be entitled to Starbucks after the vet trip is over. Have a great weekend!
