It’s been another one of those weeks. Deck project got postponed and it’s not about the weather. Contractor is finishing a job he started last fall but all the materials weren’t available. Everything is in now and that work is ahead of our project so the deck is next (hopefully).
The beloved husband’s adult kids live across the country. Today one of them is flying in to rent a truck and transport paintings, family heirlooms and furniture that doesn’t fit here. Flying in, loading truck and taking off on Friday. It’s choreographed with not much leeway for plan changes. We’ve had a clink in the plan which required thinking at 7 a.m. BS (before Starbucks). Looks like it will all work out but there were some scary moments.
With some upcoming landscaping, our underground utility locations were marked. Holly cow! They planted a tree on top of the underground electric cable. We will never be able to grind out those roots (that wasn’t on the work list but it’s good to know). The good news is that the new tree and flower bed can be placed exactly as planned.
We’ve had a sunny, warm week. It’s amazing how good sunshine makes you feel. Even the glitches are less glitchy. It’s easier to roll with the punches. Sunshine makes you glad to be alive. Queue in John Denver’s “Sunshine on my Shoulders!”
Wow, busy week! At least there is sunshine to make it all better 🙂

Yes! Last week was lovely but this week, true to our bouncy weather, we are having record lows. Next week should be seasonal. Sunshine makes me happy!

Sounds like there is a lot of frustration at your house. But sunshine will make it almost all better, for sure.

Some things are working out. We got some good news today. Now if only we could get the deck started.

I can handle life so much better with sunshine. It’s almost embarrassing to note how true this is! I am glad you’ve had some wonderful weather, and let’s hope the deck is done and you can enjoy some outdoor time!

The deck will be done one of these months. Seems like it’s starting off like the kitchen. Hoping for the best!

Oh, dear. Those underground cables sound complicated for landscaping. I hope that doesn’t turn into an adventure for you someday. One day and overnight to arrive, rent truck, pack it all, sleep, and then take off for a cross-country trip, huh? I hope there’s a least a dinner scheduled with you guys! 🙂 – Marty

We picked up the truck this morning and it’s packed and ready to go early tomorrow morning. The house heaved a sigh of relief at the sight of stuff exiting (for a change). We had dinner last night and again tonight. It may be short but it was a good visit.

It is really nice to see the sun again! We’ve been living in a Winnie the Pooh movie where the rain rain rain comes down down down. I figure I am well watered and should enjoy the blue skies.

All the cats love their sun puddles. It turned cloudy here around noon but the temp is in the 80s and the breeze is warm. Not complaining at all. Shower overnight and tomorrow more sun! Yay!

Still cold and rainy here on Vancouver Island (with some snow thrown in to keep us on our toes). We would love some Sunshine….and an extra helping of Starbucks would be good too! 😀

Hmmm…I thought you had milder weather than we did. Maybe that’s for winters. Wishing you some sunshine!

SoCal would like all the rain, please. We’re finally back to cooler temperatures, at least.

I’d love to send you some. Our winter was drier than usual but not drought stage. Getting 3 inches of rain in two days is not really a good thing. Most runs off. Not complaining though. Our dry period is July through early September.

It’s a drippy cool week here. Gray and wet. Nothing happening with any of our house projects. I’m looking forward to some sunshine, soon?

We had a warm and steamy (80 today) week but nothing happening on our projects either. You are west of us so don’t send that gloom. Deck man says maybe next week.

It’s good to know y’all are still nimble and can change course quickly. I thought people got set in their ways when they got old. I’ve done more adjusting and maneuvering in the last eight years than I ever did before. Maybe moving keeps you going.

I certainly complain about it more but at the end of the day, I want things done. Moving, especially after almost 20 years in a place you truly loved, was hard. We underestimated the amount of work required to make this feel like home.

Yes, moving was hard for us, too, because we had way too much stuff to move a long distance.

A four mile move was bad enough. You had to make permanent decisions on everything!

We’re getting closer but there is still some work to do. Some people are great at moving in someplace and being content as it is. Unfortunately, I didn’t inherit that gene.

Morgan is a very happy cat. They all are but Morgan doesn’t care. Sasha needs to be bosslady. Gracie is busy being quirky and Gus is still feeling his way in this pack. Morgan is who she was the day she came here.

They do but you know that more than most. We don’t have near as many sunny days as you do in FL.

I wonder if having cloudy, rainy, gray days makes us appreciate the sunshine more when it pops out and waves “hello”? I mean, if we had sunshine 365 days a year, would we appreciate it as much?

I’ll have to ask the kids in Denver. They get about 360 sunny days a year! To be honest, that would hurt my eyes and I do love the occasional rainy day.
