How much poop do they make? – We have a flock of Canadian geese in the area. It looks like three couples and all their kids. They travel together sharing parenting duties. They are usually in a large field or meandering to the creek. This week they visited our neighborhood. OMG! They weren’t here long but they left a mountain of poop on driveways, roads and yards. They are literal poop machines. I enjoyed watching them though. Very majestic poop machines. (This is dedicated to Linda Schaub who posts a lot of geese pictures!)
Well, that was fast! – Starbucks brought back their S’mores Frappuccino about a month ago. It’s my all-time favorite frou-frou drink. I use my free rewards to treat myself. It hasn’t been back for a long, long time. Today I found out that the last of the “makings” were out on the floor and they were likely to run out today. Come August, they get all “pumpkin spice-y” (which I’m not a fan! Not in coffee!). It’s a signal that summer is coming to an end. Boogers.
Ack! – I was at my dermatologist this week. This is the derm doc that I use for issues of my face. He is a wizard and a magician. I have another dermatologist who does general work and he did my Moh’s cancer surgery. He’s great but this other guy really cares about the face. We had a good visit. He said I have a few red spots, and he could zap them for me. I said “Sure, go ahead.” Well yikes! The original red spots weren’t nearly as noticeable as the zap marks. Sure hope they fade soon.
WordPress – I whine about WordPress (my blog platform) a lot. They make changes that benefit someone but not me. Some things have become more complicated, but they recently added something that I’m loving. Every day there is a “Cracking open the time capsule” feature. It has links to all the posts I wrote on the same day in other years. Many are ten or more years old. I enjoy reading them and they are fueling my Throw Back Tuesday (yes, I know it’s supposed to be Thursday but it’s my blog and I’ll do as I please!). Thank you, WordPress. Now let’s talk about some of those other tedious things you’ve done!
Another thing I whine about is the weather – This was a perfect week and there is nothing more to say about that. Love it!
So how was your week?

Kate, thanks for the mention and I will have two posts coming up in August about geese and goslings. I am a month ahead scheduling posts as I was home a lot during the two heat waves. I am constantly doing a “poop check” on the soles of my walking shoes when I am at any park. I am so neurotic about bringing goose poop into the car if I am not able to scrape it all off on a curb, that I carry an extra pair of shoes in the trunk. I am also amazed at how quickly the goslings go from fuzzy and cute to mini-me versions of their parents. How the adults herd the kids and keep them together is beyond me. I like how you have them all leaving in an orderly fashion after they infiltrated your ‘hood!
I am also enjoying the WordPress throwback posts feature and I always look at them. I really liked our weather this week – it helped bulk up my steps and get more photos. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end as we have potentially bad storms this afternoon, evening and higher risk storms tomorrow. It was very humid out this morning, so I didn’t walk – ugh.

How much poop do they make??? As majestic as they are yes, wild geese are poop machines. You should see Central Park. You can’t walk across sections of the grass. They should put up signs but then there’d be geese activists no doubt picketing. A wild guess.
Love the pictures, like a webbed cavalry.
Always enjoy the Random 5. :)

I don’t like to be a stickler, but it is Canada geese, not Canadian. I shouldn’t talk: I make that mistake all the time! But sadly, I’m waaaaay too old to change my ways. Happy Sunday, Kitties . . . . .

I never heard them called that but I googled it and you are right. The correct name is Canada goose. They used to migrate but we have homies here who move from field to field but never out of the region.

The Canadian geese come every winter to the school athletic fields. Soccer fields are covered in geese poop. Thinking about having a dedicated pair of crap shoes just for those fields.

I couldn’t believe how much poop they generated. They were only there 15 to 20 minutes tops.

I worked at a company with a huge parking lot that was poop covered every morning. They ended up hiring herding dogs to stay there overnight to keep them off. They had a pond so the geese had other places to go. Definitely need poop shoes.

We had lots of birds in the hood down in Bradenton ~ herons, eagles, spoonbills, pelicans (white & brown), ducks, osprey, moorhens, ibis, egrets and geese! Lots of ponds and room for them to roam.
The geese were scoff laws that would jaywalk, park in no parking zones, clog the streets, refuse to move, and bite (if given the opportunity). :D

Geese are very protective. No one challenges a papa goose here.

Goodness…those are some prolific geese! They really are a bunch of messy and cranky birds. I don’t know how the golfers can wade through all the poop that gets left on the course near my house. Ick!

Kate, your photo of the Canada Geese trooping down the street tickles me so much. Yes, I know they are exceptional poopers but I really miss seeing Canada Geese here. I know they are here but we don’t see them. Second photo… adorable. I still go back and read my blog Under the Oaks/Under the Palm Fronds when I need some cheering up. It’s parked doing nothing in Private mode. If Photobucket hadn’t screwed up my photos with their big stamp over them I would pull it out and put it back to work. I haven’t had a Starbuck’s frou-frou drink in 8 years.

I rarely do frou-frou drinks but there are a few worthy of my free rewards drink. I love geese and ducks. They look so elegant. Maybe it’s the graceful neck. I think I started to follow you before your move from Missouri. Long time ago.

Yes, you and the Sassies were visiting quite a long time ago on Under the Oaks before we moved and I changed the blog’s name to Under the Palm Fronds. I miss those days.

We all miss parts of days gone by. I miss my pond but not the cleaning of it. Only two hours once a year but it was a slippery liner and I always took a spill or two.

What a fabulous weather week it was! A lovely summer week. The old pieces are fun to review – I agree. Love the geese picture. I have a client for two weeks that causes me to go past all the geese here, crossing the street from their night resting spot to the pond. You can’t be in a hurry if they are crossing the street. And if you are, they don’t care.

Yes, one driver kept honking at them an it just made them slower as they stared at her wondering why her honk was so different from theirs.
