Just three today. I had an eye procedure on Friday and my vision in one eye is blurred. It makes me more off kilter than usual.
About Friday – I’ve had this procedure three times before and I always hate it. I swore I wouldn’t do it again yet here I am. They have improved it since last time but I still think this is the last time. For the curious, it’s Prokera. They put an amniotic lens in your eye to heal cornea inflammation. It stays on for three days and then they remove it. Yes, it works but for me it’s annoying. It feels like a super-sized Frisby is sitting on my eyeball.
In other medical news – I have my first office appointment with the butt doc for my colonoscopy this week. I expect to cry and carryon in the hopes that it will all go away and I won’t need one. (Yes, I’m a dreamer!)
A bright spot – The women in my family get together several times a year for lunch. It’s always enjoyable. We don’t see each other much outside of this so it’s a great opportunity to catch up. We cancelled last time because my 95-year-old sister-in-law was not up to snuff. We have decided to go ahead this Tuesday even if someone must cancel. We are hoping Betty (my SIL) will be able to join us. Never a dull moment with her around.
So how was your week?

That is a lot going on in one week. Hope you were able to get together with your family!

Well, now it’s October 3. I’m want to hear about the eye (better now?) and the colonoscopy – done and done, ugh) and the luncheon. Hope ALL went well. I get so sick from the clean-out that I can’t do a colonoscopy (last one hospitalized me). I do that thing where they send a box and you give a sample. If it’s clean, not need for the colonoscopy. For me, it’s a better way to go.

I don’t do colonoscopies well and this is (hopefully) my last one. My husband was hospitalized while doing a cleanout too. It’s hard on the body. It’s not scheduled until the end of October. Eye is better and luncheon was great!

Oh my, that eye procedures sound brutal. Don’t forget to ask your butt doctor about taking pills instead of the drain-o potion from hell. It really made a difference for me last time.

I was there today. He recommended a combination of pills and drano which he said would be kinder to my gut. We’ll see. At least it’s not a gallon of stuff. He also said to stop taking it once I’m cleared out. Unless he finds something big, this will be my last.

I hope your sis-in-law makes it to the luncheon… I know you all will have a great time. I hope your eye is already feeling better also. I love to eat lunch out… better than dinner out.

With restaurant prices so high, I much prefer lunch to dinner. I don’t eat a lot and it suits me better too. Sometimes I do breakfast for lunch! My eye is ok. Long process though.

I must say, your SIL looked a very young 90. Hope she’s well and all can enjoy the girls lunch.

I hope the eye procedure had a good outcome. As to the colonoscopy, I’ve had several over the years. The worst thing about it is the preparation – in other words, the laxatives. At least the liquid you have to drink doesn’t taste nearly as bad as the kind they used the first time I underwent the procedure. They do it under sedation here. How about over there? The Ladies’ Get-Together sounds like a wonderful idea. Sisters (and mothers and daughters, and SIL’s) should get together whenever they can. Carpe diem. You may think there’s always another time, but then time runs out and it’s too late. Believe me. I know.

I know you know all too well that in the blink of an eye we can lose someone. I’m excited about the luncheon. My butt experiences date back to when they did barium enema exams. Same cleanout needed but with castor liver oil and wide awake. They’ve come a long way but I still don’t like to get them.

Hope it all goes well. I’m taking my husband this Friday to have his done. I keep avoiding doing it. Enjoy lunch and all the upcoming pumpkin lattes!!

Well, at least when it’s all over, you’ll feel like a new person from top to toe! The get-together sounds nice. No family members for me, so any family get-together always sounds nice and cozy.

The female members of your family are smart to have a yearly date for your get together. Otherwise they don’t happen. I hope your sister-in-law makes it. She looks like a lot of fun.

Well you have all kinds of excitement going on – butt AND eye and an “all girls” get-together. I think you probably will enjoy the last agenda item a WHOLE LOT MORE than the first two. Tee Hee

Good luck with your upcoming medical appointment-maybe it won’t be as bad? 🤞🏼 Praying your eyes feel better and keeping my fingers crossed your SIL can attend. She looks like a real character. 95 is nothing to sneeze at! Bravo to her.

We hope for the best. After these past few weeks of what seems like constant medical stuff going on, 95 and being upright is nothing to sneeze at!

I was going to use a different term but it seemed so “tasteless!” Funny but tasteless! 🙂

Does it feel like having a contact lens in your eye . . . or bigger? Either way, hope it doesn’t interfere with fun at lunch on Tuesday.
Eat what you can now . . . before the clean out begins!
BTW: After an “anomaly” on my mammogram earlier this month, the radiologist compared this year’s films with older films and decided . . . STABLE and BENIGN. Yippee! Back to once a year monitoring.

Yay for you! That’s great news. No biopsy! No it does not feel like a contact lens. I wore those for 35 years and you don’t feel them. This you feel. It’s large an covers the whole eye to it bumps the edges frequently. It comes out tomorrow (Monday) so I won’t be grumpy for the luncheon.

Good timing! Glad it will be gone tomorrow!
And good luck with the colon doc and all the rest. Hope you get the “all clear!” sign.

That corneal treatment sounds terrible. How do you keep from rubbing your eye?

Some people use a patch. I found that annoying. I wore contact lenses for 35 years so I learned how to not touch my eyes.

As far as I know, there is just the stool test. There are others like ultrasound or a scan but they require colon clean out too. Wish there was something easier for cleanout.

I hope that the colonoscopy stuff amounts to nothing in the end (no pun intended). But having to worry about things like this is always stressful…so sorry!

Deep down I don’t think he will say I don’t need one but I’m hopeful. Hoping the eye drama is over this week. That’s at least another thing off my plate.

It does. It seems to run in cycles too. I was clear most of the summer (and it was wonderful). Hopefully after this cycle I’ll be good until next spring when the mammogram kicks off another cycle.

I thought there were alternatives now to having a colonoscopy. I don’t what they are just that I see headlines telling me how they exist. 🤔
