Pictures – My stepdaughter took new pictures of the beloved husband and me. It’s been a while. I have to decide what I’ll use to update my blog photo. My cat Morgan was in some and that may be a good selection. She takes better pictures than I do.
It’s been an up and down kind of week – We had fun house guests and friends with health issues going positive and negative. My heart is going from happy to sad and back again in a nanosecond. Friends with health issues and deaths are part of aging. When the music stops be sure to grab a chair!
Focusing on the good – The beloved husband got to see all four of his adult children this past week. The bad news is that they were all east for a funeral, but the good news is that we got to see them.
That’s weird – Lately I’ve been stalked by a recruiter for a (supposedly) high level Human Resource position. I wonder if he’d be as excited about me if he knew how old I was. I’ll take it as a compliment and move along.
Elections – One more week! Then we will move into the “who really won” stage. Election deniers are brushing up on their rhetoric! Sometimes it seems like a third world country.
So how was your week?
Great picture! This definitely has been a week of ups and downs. Glad you got to see your step children and had some fun houseguests, even if the reason you got to see them is sad. Hang in there!

I’d like some peace and quiet but probably this isn’t the week for it.

That photo is frame-worthy! My favorite line is, “When the music stops, be sure to grab a chair!”

Lovely photo that deserves a frame. It was nice to see the adult children but sorry it was for a sad event. Can you imagine HR today? It gives me the shivers just to think about a company full of people walking around staring at their phone. 🙂 As for politics, I’ve already voted, am avoiding all news, muting commercials, and may not turn anything ‘on’ the day after the election. You may need two mochas that day. 🙂

Two mochas! Excellent idea! We have been muting, recording to fast forward through commercials and streaming to avoid it. I voted 2 weeks ago so I should be exempt from all this.

What a lovely photo of you and your husband! Love it. The election has me on pins and needles. Sadly I don’t think we’ll know for a few days after the 5th. I don’t think I’ve prayed as hard as I have about this election. It seems completely inconceivable that it’s basically a tie. The whole electoral college is going to be the death of me yet. Talk about an antiquated method. Rather defies the whole democracy thing when you have 7 states controlling the outcome. 😵💫

I have felt like there is a big black (orange?) cloud over my head… I hope it will be gone on November 5, or soon thereafter. Like so many people, I can’t fathom why the race is so close. We don’t live in a battleground state, but we have gotten more than our share of mailings and emails for local races and propositions.
I love the picture of you and your husband! Isn’t it great when both of you look good in a photo? Normally either my husband or me – or both – looks slightly demented.

Demented is the perfect description of most of our photos. Usually there is an eye half closed or a mouth drooped to make us look like we are in the middle of a stroke. The election…sigh. Wish I could go into a coma and come out when it’s over.

That’s a very nice photo of the two of you Kate; you can’t go wrong with a Fall background either. We’ve had lots of action in Michigan the past few days – enough already and November 5th cannot come quickly enough!

My grandma was very close to all her friends. But I remember the day when she started complaining that her friends were dying. She died at age 92, so I think all her friends were gone by then.
This year it’s going to be a hard few weeks (months) until we get our next president. Let’s just hope it doesn’t turn into a hard few years.

That’s what I’m hoping. My brother and his wife are in their mid 90s. For a long time funerals were an every week event. I don’t know if that still happens. They have a few friends close to their age left but not many. There have been so many deaths. Not all of them were close but they were contemporaries which sends a message too.

Can’t wait for the election to be over! Could wallpaper my house with all the political flyers in the mail! But like you said, then it will be the whole game of who really won! Ugh, hate politics.
Sorry about your friends with the bad health issues. It’s hard to see our friends struggle.
Glad your husband got to see his children, though sad about what brought them all in East.
It used to be that family reunions happened at weddings, now … its a brigbt side to funerals.

A beautiful photo of you and Dan, Kate! The election… sigh. I’m worried. I can’t handle the orange one for four years again. I was emotionally a mess while he was messing with our lives. I’m thinking “nothing but blue skies.”

England also looks like a 3rd-world-country often, though that would probably upset the good people in the REAL 3rd-world-countries for whom poverty is a way of life, but they probably live a more moral life than we do here which is where the joke lies.
As for your election, we too await the result with fluttering hearts – is it possible we might get yet another re-run of the chaos that surround “The D” last time round?? (Probably, using the old folklore that if you hope too high for a good outcome to something you’re more likely to get a bad one!!).
BTW …does anyone know why our ‘Mrs Kittow’s’ back is balding, from base of tail to about 1/3rd the way towards her head and now crept round to her bottom (polite English for what you US folks would call ‘ass’)? Her tummy has been bald for over a year now (the Vet said she has bad nerves), but this is a new development!! Can’t put a photo on here to illustrate, sorry.

I have no idea about Mrs. Kittow. Sometimes I have bad nerves but my hair doesn’t fall out. If she had mange or some skin disease, the vet would have seen it. Hope she’s not worrying about the election! You are right about the 3rd world countries. My remark was referencing the violence that may happen. Overthrowing a government (yes, that’s what it is) is not something we are used to seeing here except for 1776. We have food and shelter so we are far better off.

That’s a great photo of you and your special guy! Really. I am at the point where I’m not happy with ANY photo of me except for the ones taken back in the early 70s when all my parts were in the right place (hahaha) and I had more hair and no surgery scars! Wait – did I complain just a little too much? Yeah but still I’m here…… It must be kind of nice to have a recruiter after you – those things make us feel GOOD even if we aren’t interested in pursuing.
Hugs, Pam

The recruiter made me smile and made my day. My resume is still out there! Back in the 70s I never liked my photos thinking they weren’t great. Now I realize how good I looked! There is nothing that beats youth!

Is it just one more week? I guess it is. I can’t believe the amount of mental energy I’ve had to expend on that orange snake oil salesman since he slithered down that elevator 10 years ago. Ludicrous.

I so love that picture of you and your quite cute Mister. That’s a keeper.
I’m sorry your company brought upset and woe. I remember a time when there seemed to be none. Youth, it’s as if it’s made of Teflon.
And I too cannot wait till the electron is over. I’m worried about the aftermath. Someone that seems to be everywhere at the same time with all his news coverage, if defeated, will not go quietly into the night. We need to buckle up,to quote Anne Lamott.
Oh yeah…about that person wooing you for a job, you forget how great you were at it. Competence is hard to find these days.
Have a great week.

Our lives feel quite topsy turvy at the moment ~ we are listing the villa for sale without knowing where we are going. It’s disconcerting and discombobulating, as change often is.
My current mantra: “Just leap and the net appears.”

You’ve summed it up nicely, Kate!
After Helene blew through, we only had a couple of days to regroup before gearing up for a 2nd mandatory evacuation.
We rented a storage unit before Milton and took a bunch of stuff over the day before we evacuated. In the villa, we raised everything we could about 6 feet off the floor.
After we left, the eye of Hurricane Milton flew over our villa and swirled around for about an hour. So lots of damage all around. (We stayed 20 miles inland and had gusts over 100 mph).
We got home 36 hours after the storm passed to see trees and siding and roofs shredded in our neighborhood, but no major damage from flooding.
Worn out from the storm, we had to undo all the prep work ~> suffice it to say, we haven’t had many breaks in the past 3-4 weeks. We just keep plugging along.
So, yeah, we’re house hunting and preparing to list the villa for sale. After 5 mandatory evacuations, we’ve had enough.

I should hire you to be my “house hunter” since you did such a nice job picking a great place when you down-sized.

First you have to decide where you want to live. I know you picked the place you are in because it was less likely to be hit by flooding.

Yes. First we must pick the “forest” and then we can start exploring the trees for our next best “nest.”

Ending the commercials will be a blessing. The networks must make a bundle during election years at least in battleground states.
