Yesterday was the granddaughters’ birthday. They are eight years old. I can’t believe it. Soon they will be going to college! How fast time flies.
This is how they started. They were very much wanted!
Here is their growth.
How does this happen? Each time we see them, they are more and more like people, losing their childlike tendencies but somehow retaining an innocence that is endearing.
We are very lucky grandparents!

Absolutely beautiful post about the importance of love, health and family…

Mine are very special. I didn’t have children (the hard part) to get to the grandchildren (the good part) stage!

Love the line: “they are more and more like people.” I think that is what makes kids so endlessly fascinating. It’s fun to see who they turn out to be!

Oh Kate, they are so cute…can I have one? You have two. i love the shot of them at 3 with short, short hair. They look like little Jean Sebergs from the movie Breathless. I love how you displayed their succession. Well done Nana.

Darling girls. Each age brings new delights and a twinge of nostalgia for what once was. Our “grands” are now 10 and 12. I wouldn’t trade them now for anything, but I sure miss those early years as well.

I’m watching mine too. The problem is that we cannot stay the same age while we’re doing it.

The picture sequence is so wonderful. What dolls. Such sensitive eyes and so expressive.
I am always amazed at how children grow so fast from being so tiny. May the sun alway find them and cheer them.
I know they cherish your visits.

and we are lucky to have them. They live across the country from us so we don’t get to see them in person often.

They’re adorable! I love their wild hair! My sister has twin girls, redheads. They’re 23 now and it seems like just yesterday they were born.

They are fraternal twins and very different. One has curly hair and the other not so much but both of them always have wild and free looking hair!

My nieces are identical and in more ways than their looks. Sometimes I can’t tell them apart. They recently went to Japan to study and they said everywhere they went, people stared at them.
