After whining and complaining, we are having a taste of summer here. Finally!
It comes flying in unannounced after weeks of 40 degree windy weather and it did that again this year.
I knew there was hope last week because the Starbuckers were drinking their coffee on the patio. It didn’t matter that it was only 42 degrees. We Starbuckers are a hardy group. At least most of them are. I, on the other hand, was in my warm car in the drive-through.
It was 62 degrees this morning and the Starbuckers were not only drinking on the patio but they had on shorts and sandals! Go team!
The horny frogs are out. I had my first frog sighting yesterday and they serenaded us all night long. This is the prelude to pond orgies that are incredible. I will try to get you pictures! (That will ruin the G rating on my blog for sure!)
The beloved husband is not fond of the frog’s mating songs but I enjoy them. It’s like locusts in the summer. It means it’s really spring. Mating season! Nothing wrong with a little mating….
The birds were active. They had straw all over the place and they were flapping around. Very noisy. I am sure there are some nests with babies somewhere.
I don’t have a thing to wear. I always have that feeling at the start of a season until I figure out what went with what and where I stored everything. Did you ever buy something that you think you need only to find out that you already had it? No? That’s odd. It happens to me often!
People are nice. It doesn’t happen often or last long but it does come with a season change.
We were in the 80s today and that is so cool! (Well, not cold cool but cool!) I am enjoying it because it will cool off by the end of the week. I am hopeful that the worst of the cold and windy spring is over.
My condolences go to family who live in Denver where it is 19 degrees and snowing. I have the margaritas on the patio and the grill is all set to go! I deserve it after this dreary winter.
I bought a pair of gray slacks only to discover I had the exact same color, style and brand at home. I decided to keep them anyways.
Kate, it’s been a little cool in Florida this winter as well. Now, that spring is here, we will have not only the frogs mating … but, alligators, too. I haven’t heard them but I’m told that they make their presence known … even the next swamp over. 🙂

Alligators make noise when they are mating? I always thought they dropped their eggs and took off?? My kind of mothering! Are the babies cute or just dangerous?

Actually, Momma gator sticks around and is “VERY” protective of her babies. Their babies are cute if you’re a gator. I don’t know when they become dangerous.
The ones who drop their eggs and take off are turtles.

Cruel, Grammy Kate… very cruel! Ha ha! But we DID get a snow day because of the “blizzard” (3″ of snow and cold) here in Denver on Tuesday! So there’s always a silver lining!! Cheers!

I’m pretty sure I’m the only person in the world who dreads summer. I live in a swamp called Washington, D.C. Nearly 90 degrees here yesterday. Give me 65 degree max or give me…air conditioning! 🙂

It does get really hot there. I’d love to live somewhere with temperatures in the 70s yearround. Maybe a nice breeze and a lot of sunshine!

We had an ice storm last night. Beautiful, but….not my idea of spring. Enjoy a margarita for me.

Hadn’t thought about it before – but you are so right about this.
Flipflop weather now – front moving in shortly and bouncing back to long sleeves..but not for long! Go Spring! (and must make dog stay out until storms….)

I live in West MI and it’s rainy and cool here … but tiny signs of spring are arriving daily. Like the mallards who swim in the water trapped on top of the pool cover! My Mom’s on the farm in Saskatchewan and they still have 2 feet of snow on the ground and more on the way 🙂
Cheers to you
MJ

Hurrah! I know how eager you are for Spring – the real thing – to finally stick around. Same here. It was 80 degrees plus here in Virginia today! That’s actually summer weather and a bit too much if you ask me. But sunshine and blooms are happy things and Starbuckers drinking on the patio. Life is good.

Here in SW Iowa we are getting some much, much appreciated rain. Sure, the power went out once but I’m still bravely working on the church newsletter. It was almost balmy this past weekend with temps near 70. The rain has brought cooler conditions but I’m so glad it’s rain and not the snow that Colorado got. Enjoy the sounds of Spring!

It’s warm here, too. I like it. But our weather is supposed to go back into the 50s on Friday, so I haven’t tried to locate my warm weather clothes.

Oh it sounds wonderful. I lived in the south up until 10 years ago. I miss the sounds of frogs on the pond, crickets with there tales of the temperature and even the Katydids in the trees. I don’t miss the fire ants and the noseems. Dang it girl, you have made me home sick. We had a full day of snow today.

Once March rolls around, I am so sick of snow (even if we didn’t have much during the winter). I get spring fever and want to be out in the warm air. I live in PA so it doesn’t warm up as fast as the southern states but I just love it when it does!

I live in New Mexico, sounds hot but it is not. I live at about 9,000 ft in the Lincoln Forest. We will have snow until Mother’s day. I miss the sounds of summer but not the heat.
