Finally! — Yesterday was one of those “good to be alive” days. The weather was perfect. We have three days like that a year. Today we are going into a heat wave, but I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday (and I’ll enjoy today too!).
Change! – We finally switched our bedding from the flannel sheets to the silky summer ones. It was glorious climbing in bed last night. We are a little later this year, but the weather has been cool with the very occasional “seasonal” day. My cat Sasha likes the new summer sheets. They are easier for her to pull off and get me up at dark o’clock for breakfast!
Humble – I am always humbled when all is right here. It’s been busy and hectic (and it seems like someone is always ill) so throw in a gorgeous day with nothing but home chores to do and I am a happy camper. My neighborhood is all green and beautiful. My neighbors are great. I am blessed. Just to be sure I didn’t get too carried away, Sasha barfed this morning. She did it on the windowsill which is my least favorite spot to clean up.
Emotion – On my coffee run this morning, a song came on and my eyes welled up. I was 20 again. My mom was alive and my life was ahead of me. All my old friends were around (and alive!). I don’t know what brought it on. It was a familiar tune from my youth but not any of my all-time favorites. I’m running on emotion today. Great weather will do that for me. It may be a weepy day. I’m not doing an obit check on any old friends. No point in ruining the day with sadness.
I will let cartoons finish this post.
So how was your week?

North Alabama has been cooler than usual, but by cooler I mean in the 70’s instead of the 80’s. It will soon be sweaty days ahead.

We were in the 60s, then yesterday the 70s, today for 3 days the 90s. Just nuts. I’d love a long spring of 70s weather.

It has been nice. Doesn’t often happen here.

Yes, I was good at that as a kid! 😉

I like 80s music, but I don’t like listening to it when I am alone. Then it makes me a little sad and nostalgic. If it comes on in a group setting (like playing American mahjong), though, I enjoy listening.

That’s a different take on it. I only get sad when a song reminds me of a sad time in my life.

The weather is pretty glorious in New York City at the moment. It’s amazing the difference it makes when it’s sunny and clear.
I still have my trusty L.L. Bean flannels on my bed, but pima cottons are in the wings. Nothing like fresh sheets.
Regards to Sash and Gus.

Our Bean flannels are safely tucked away for the summer. They will be wonderful in October when there is a bit of a chill in the air. Sunshine makes a huge difference for me.

I love Bean. It’s like a relative.

I really like the style of this post. It lets you get at least a few of the gazillion thoughts that are running through your head, out for the world to see. I spend more time thinking about what to post than I do actually posting. lol

Today was a stream of thoughts. Sometimes I actually prepare a post but my week was weird. Mostly I was stunned when my eyes welled up over a song that wasn’t a favorite. My goodness. I’m getting soft in my old age!

I know what you mean about nostalgia whacking you between the eyes when you least expect it. I have that happen too.
And, just for the record, I am wayyy on the other side of that boomer curve.

I’m at the starting edge of the boomers which went on for 20 years or so. Now it seems that there’s a different letter for the upcoming generation every few years.

Was “Boomers” the first grouping with a name? What would you call the ones who came slightly before Boomers? (Yes there are still a few left)

I think they were called The Greatest Generation. They went through the depression and 2 big wars.

Once again, nicely done . . . . .

Love the cartoon. I’m running on emotion too. Went in to bring Hamlet his breakfast this morning and he’d gotten his cone and donut off. Looked at his hind end, which he had cleaned thoroughly, and it is all healed. Woo hoo!! Posted him on Petfinder today. Time to find him a home. Happy, happy.

“which he had cleaned thoroughly!” Cats know what they need to do. When Gus had his butt surgery, he couldn’t wait to clean it up. Cats have standards! Good luck on an great adoption.

Silky sheets! Ooh, fancy! We had a couple of shock hailstorms last week, so it’s still cold here. One morning Catorze woke me up at 5am to sleep on my stomach, and I was actually grateful for his warmth.

He knew you needed the warmth.
