The bridge near our home floods out during big storms and we got one this week!
This is what it normally looks like. Picture taken during summer so there are leaves on the trees.

We are fine. We live uphill from this area so we don’t flood. Greetings from the waterlogged northeast!
Wow! That is a lot of flooding! Glad it dried up pretty quickly!

It went down almost as fast as it came up.

It was back to normal the next morning.

Thatβs quite dramatic flooding! We are some distance from the nearest body of water, although one of my friends who lives in an UPPER FLOOR FLAT had sewage come up through his drains recently. Eurgh!

That’s the worst!

Wow – thank goodness you live uphill!

That would have been a deal breaker for us. We are too old for that cleanup.

I feel the same way – water emergencies outside or inside are not fun. I just had the plumbing emergency in the bathroom in November … I had to “un-seam” the wall to wall carpet to dry it, but got it done, no damage, no smell, though I only have one bathroom and having the carpet pulled up and hopping over it and around the fan was not a picnic.

That’s annoying. One bathroom houses have limitations but truly with only one person you don’t need a second one!

I sure am glad the ordeal is over. I took photos of the fans, carpet flipped over sideways and I suspended the rugs in the air with red Solo cups. I was going to use is in my year-end wrap-up but decided not to in the end.

This is the second time this winter and there is a third rain storm coming. This could have been snow!

My sister was upset that it wasn’t snow! She got a lot of rain as well.

Good lord no! That would have been a LOT of snow!

Living in a semi arid mountain dessert, that much water leaves me gobsmacked. Glad you remain dry. Stay safe.

Living in a wet and humid area, it gobsmacks me too! It was truly awesome. The power of nature.

Amazingly, it’s back to normal today but there is a lot of activity at the house nearby. Maybe still pumping out water from the basement.

Just WOW, Kate! Good to know you are uphill. Pretty impressive. All those lovely trees… β₯ They look pretty happy in the photo from summer.

What’s amazing to me is how well the grass bounces back. Within a few days it’s all green and happy (maybe not now but during summer floods).

Glad you don’t flood.

Thanks. Me too. The house along the creek has new neighbors. They bought in the summer and we all just shook our heads. I’m sure they had water in the basement. They have to park their cars up the hill and the water comes right up to the house.

We’re ok. The first time it was overwhelming to see the power of a storm.

We lived in a house in the Midwest and experienced the same thing. We were fortunate too that we were elevated from the road. Still, it’s annoying and dangerous if someone is not familiar with the area.

We had this happen soon after we moved and didn’t know how to get out of our neighborhood. At least now we know the back roads but it is still frustrating. It’s an old one car lane bridge that just about clears the stream so it floods often.

Mostly just annoyed because we have to take a round about way to get places!

We know that feeling. Where we were on the boat is now a 17 mile trip to get from one end of the town to the other due to floods. On a boat we’d be fine unless we wanted to go anywhere!

Perhaps we should build an ark just in case! π Actually the water, even in the worst flood wouldn’t get to us.

Our house is at the highest point on our estate…… by a whole inch! The deepest puddle here is opposite our house so if our drive goes under water, guess we could be in trouble!

Wow!! What a mess. Hope it drops down to something more normal soon!

Me too. There are homes along the creek that get flooded. It flooded last week and again this week. I feel so sorry for those homeowners.

That is an impressive flood! I guess you’re not walking in that direction today.

π There is a steep hill to get down there and I forgot how much energy that takes. I’ve been keeping my route on the flatter areas.

WOW……we had tons of rain here as well but we’re not near any kind of water really – just a small creek at the back of our property which got BIGGER but it’s downhill from us so no flooding. I’m sure the wildlife appreciate having more drinking water but we would have been happier with sunshine vs. 24 hours of hard rain – I bet you feel the same!
Hugs, Pam

Yes! However, we were very lucky. We didn’t get the high winds so our power wasn’t knocked out and we don’t have any damage.
