Almost wordless Wednesday

The bridge near our home floods out during big storms and we got one this week!

This is what it normally looks like. Picture taken during summer so there are leaves on the trees.

We are fine. We live uphill from this area so we don’t flood. Greetings from the waterlogged northeast!

  1. That’s quite dramatic flooding! We are some distance from the nearest body of water, although one of my friends who lives in an UPPER FLOOR FLAT had sewage come up through his drains recently. Eurgh!

      • I feel the same way – water emergencies outside or inside are not fun. I just had the plumbing emergency in the bathroom in November … I had to “un-seam” the wall to wall carpet to dry it, but got it done, no damage, no smell, though I only have one bathroom and having the carpet pulled up and hopping over it and around the fan was not a picnic.

    • Thanks. Me too. The house along the creek has new neighbors. They bought in the summer and we all just shook our heads. I’m sure they had water in the basement. They have to park their cars up the hill and the water comes right up to the house.

    • We had this happen soon after we moved and didn’t know how to get out of our neighborhood. At least now we know the back roads but it is still frustrating. It’s an old one car lane bridge that just about clears the stream so it floods often.

  2. WOW……we had tons of rain here as well but we’re not near any kind of water really – just a small creek at the back of our property which got BIGGER but it’s downhill from us so no flooding. I’m sure the wildlife appreciate having more drinking water but we would have been happier with sunshine vs. 24 hours of hard rain – I bet you feel the same!

    Hugs, Pam
