Gracie here: The peep said that one of the first assignments when you returned to school was to talk about your vacation. We are cats and as such, are always on vacation. We did have a HUGE storm blow through this past week. All peeps were crazy but this is what we did during the storm.
I had to make sure I had enough energy to help afterward so I napped.

This is an older picture because the new one of Gus napping was ruined. He flipped his eyes open just as the camera clicked. Douchebag! Trust me. He was deep in lalaland during the storm.

Your cats do not serve as early warning signals, Kate. They are excellent at keeping calm in emergencies, however.

The only thing they warn about is mice. I can tell when we have mice in the house. Lots of secret meetings in corners and cats looking at places they never look.

Geez Kate, I liked and forgot to comment. My head is cob webby! Glad you had no leaks in the house, especially the basement. No basements here so we always look up! Always looking for roof leak when something tropical comes to town. I wish I could snooze like the Sassy Cats when tropical stuff blows through… I am usually a crankier cranky. Just glad the new house did well and you all are okay!

We didn’t get it near as badly as places farther south. We were lucky.

Teddy hid in the basement during the windy and HARD rain portion of Ida moving through here. We marveled at how HARD the rain was and also kept saying “we’re so glad we live on a HILL” !!!! The tornados stayed away from us but there was one elsewhere in Virginia and one in Maryland. EEEK.

Sounds like you did ok. We didn’t get water in the house. No leaks! First real test of the new house. Cats were oblivious to it all!

Glad to hear you all are okay, Kate. I thought about you while Derek and I watched the tornado warnings on the Weather Channel. Some large brick homes in NJ were leveled…so sad.

New Jersey got hit hard but there was some tornado damage just north of Philadelphia. We don’t get tornadoes so this is all new and scary.

Good to hear the storm and flooding spared you a big mess in your new home. All we got was some wind and rain but nothing like other places in the south. And today it is a cool 81* with humidity at 37%. Actually got a 4-mile walk today. First long walk since early July.

After the storm moved out, we got some really great weather too. No rain until next week and cool temps with low humidity. Could it be fall?

Naps are great anytime. Whether you’re spending an ordinary day or riding out a rainy storm. You guys know just how to to it well! Stay safe and dry. We’re sending ‘pawsitive’ thoughts for those in flooded areas.

It was. The water is back inside the creek. At it’s highest, the path and fields were all flooded. It was an awesome sight. I may walk it later today to see the damage up close.

That was one wild day here. The dogs, having to go without walks, were not happy campers!! And the basement took on a good bit of water…sigh. But minor problems compared to folks down South.

We were locked in until about 8:30 this morning. No water in basement so I can’t complain at all (except for my missed Starbucks!). We had a lot of wind and that was scary. No local tornados. Our state took a beating. Not like Louisiana and other southern states but for a tropical depression it was bad enough.

Tropical depressions are scary too… depending on what side of the storm you are on and how close they are when they blow by. I can’t believe Ida held together for so long.

We were not expecting so much rain. Usually by the time it gets here, it’s lost it’s punch. We didn’t get high winds but we did get rain! Lots of rain!
