Gracie here. I’m back! It’s been a busy week here. The lady peep got her second vaccine and went down. It was all hands on deck. Even the beloved husband had to get the Starbucks mocha. We all sat on her bed and watch her sleep. We are never all on her bed at the same time. It was eerie. Like something out of Edgar Allen Poe. Like a death watch but she survived. We kept evaluating whether her opposable thumbs still works. All good. She can still open food cans. She was a bit whiny but she didn’t milk it as long as Morgan did with her leg.
I hope she understands how lousy we feel after she takes us for all those yearly shots. We don’t hit the party clubs or even go outside so I don’t know why we need them. They are owchies. Maybe we’ll get extra treats now. Does Starbucks sell cat treats?
Since only the peep is allowed to take pictures, there aren’t many this week. Here is one of me. Excuse the yellow tint. The peep must have done something wrong. I am a lovely shade of gray!
No week is complete without a photo of this disgusting pair. Get a room!
Oh, Gracie. Thank goodness you enchanted freelions were available to encourage your Peep to recover quickly. Nothing like draping fur waits across legs or arms making them numb so Peep gets up quickly to make sure appendages all work. That and staring nose to nose so when she opens her eyes she immediately feels better out of self defense. Whew. Glad that is all over. Hopefully you got those extra treats ( and Beloved Husband got a nap)

We are still adjusting (or so the peeps say) so we tend to cling together. Some people may call it needy. We all it friendly.

I’m certain, that all things equal, your little cat family was very concerned for you while you were down recuperating, but at the same time, they really do believe that next time they need an injection, you’ll be more generous with the treats!

Gracie – I am glad you and your siblings behaved and were not too tough on the Peep while she was down. That was thoughtful of y’all not to let your stomachs rule in favor of nice manners. 🙂 I am sure the Peep knows what you feel like after a shot at the vet’s office … don’t tell her I told you, but she always feels badly when she takes you to the vet and tells us about it. Shhhh – don’t tell her – keep it between us, okay?

Oh dear. So sorry about the “take down” from the second vaccine. Glad you’re getting back to yourself and that the kitties are doing well. Continue to make sure they take care of you if you aren’t feeling up to par. 😉

I was ok within 36 hours. Very short duration. Cats were wonderful! No fighting on the bed! 🙂

I get my second shot this week. I had a reaction to the first one so I’m already dreading the second one. Yet no matter how bad the side effects, it’ll still beat COVID.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Absolutely! I wasn’t expecting to get sick as I never do for other vaccines. Overall, the duration was so short that I can’t complain and it was much easier than getting the dreaded COVID!

I’m so glad you guys are taking care of her. And I do think treats are in order. Nice pics, too. Boy, they do flaunt their love don’t they? Take care and tuna for all!! When your human is feeling better of course.

Hope you are back to 100 percent Kate! How long were you down?

It worked out just like the pharmacist said. It started after 12 hours, lasted 12 hours and took another 12 to shake the fatigue. Then I felt like nothing happened. I haven’t been that sick (headache, chills, sweats) in years, maybe decades.
LikeLike
Glad it only lasted 12 hours. Thats the one thing I don’t look forward too but I know people who haven’t got sick at all, so I guess it just really depends on tbe person. For I heard people get sick with Phizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson and people not.
No vomiting? Hate vomiting!

For me no vomiting or stomach issues at all and I’m prone to digestive issues. My niece didn’t get sick at all and my husband didn’t feel well when he went to bed but woke up ok so you can’t tell how you will react. Good luck.

Yay on no vomiting fof you! My husband felt fine too. Thanks! I get the 2nd dose May 5th. Sick or not at least we will be protected from Covid!

Thanks for the updates. I am sorry your mom was sick after the vaccine. I had the J& J a few weeks ago and got sick that night, but was better by morning. Have a nice weekend.

Good of you, Gracie, to watch over your peep when she wasn’t feeling good. Teddy and Jack did the same for me when I had fever and fatigue after my second shot. I think they helped me feel better faster. Nothing keeps a cat mama from opening the cat kids’ cans.

You’re right. I got up to feed them on Thursday morning and barely made it back to bed before passing out. No cat goes hungry here.

That’s pretty much how it was for me.
Although, I didn’t pass out.

It is interesting about the reactions and how some people get them and others don’t and even the degree to which those who do have. Glad to read you are better.

It is weird. I wasn’t expecting to get it as my niece and brother did not but there you go. You can’t predict so be prepared. I bounced back fast but it was a lost day.

Ouch, I a week from today we are going for our second shot. I am such a hypochondriac as it is, I am quite concerned. And one has to ask the question…if is a shot to keep you safe, why does it make you sick???? (I know it is your immune system kicking in…but still)
Glad you are on the good side of the slope now. And Gracie, you look lovely in that shade. You wear it well too!

How I felt was nothing compared to an actual case of covid-19. I consider myself lucky even with the side effects. Many people get very little besides a sore arm. For me the sore arm was only 24 hours but the fatigue lasted longer.

As long as she can open cans your peep is on the right track. I hope she is up and smiling now. Keep sitting on her bed. The cuddles will make her better faster.

I’m so sorry your peep wasn’t feeling well. I imagine it was touch-and-go for a while… would you get fed on time or not? Tell her that I had a bad reaction to the second dose too. My husband, on the other hand, was fine. I think it impacts the more intelligent and beautiful people the most 😎

Now, repeat after me, “We don’t inject you with a live virus, You have a reaction to the shot”.
Glad you’re pulling through. It like Russian Roulette they say, some get deathly sick, some die, some notice nothing. I was thinking the other day, a vaccine would be the perfect way of instituting herd immunity slowly.

It sure gives me a sense of safety! The side effects were short duration so all worth it.

I’m glad everyone took care of Kate and I hope she feels better soon. That particular ouchie is known to make humans sleep almost as much as cats.
If not, if all of you stare at her without blinking long enough, I’m sure she’ll get up.

Nope, she slept all day but woke up much better today. I’d say back to normal except we’re not sure what normal is these days.

It’s usually the second shot that gives you side effects and not everyone gets them. I was one of the lucky ones.

Gracie, I hate to hear that about your lady peep. I have to admit my second shot took me down hard, too. It wasn’t pretty and there was a considerable amount of whining by me. I hope she is feeling much better today. Thank the heavens that it lasts a fairly short time… depending on your perspective. Don’t nobody talk to me about booster shots! Truthfully I will gladly suffer a short time as opposed to having Covid. Gracie you look artsy with the yellow tint, it’s okay.

She’s ok today and glad she had the shot. Makes her feel a little safer and much easier than getting the real illness. It’s just funny how some folks are affected and some are not. Just glad she can open cat food cans.

I went for the vaccine totally exhausted from working outside the day before so the achy legs were most likely from that.

Hi Gracie…….Glad the peep’s shot reaction wasn’t TOOOO bad – it’s just about what we’ve heard from most who have a reaction at all. My hubby goes next Thursday for his #2. I hope you and the other cats and humans have a nice weekend……we’re going to have rain……sounds like a “movies and popcorn” kind of weekend. I can dig it.
Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

Popcorn? Is that like a treat? Sounds good to me. We were supposed to have rain today but the sun is out and it nice. Maybe it will hold off until tonight.

Yep – it’s cold enough here that my Dad will make a fire in the fireplace, Mom will pop up some popcorn (I usually get one or two to bat around while they EAT theirs) and hang out watching movies. It’s the perfect DO NOTHING Friday!
Hugs, Teddy
