Morgan grooming her naked leg. She worked very hard ensuring it was a spotless as it’s partner.

We missed posting yesterday. There was a lot of drama in this house. All cat drama which is the most exhausting. It ranks right there with health drama.

Morgan got her bandage taken off on Tuesday. The leg is skinner partly because a lot of the fur is worn and part because it’s been bandaged for eight weeks. She was elated. I was elated. She spent a good two hours carefully grooming that leg. She cleaned between the toesies and yanked on the nails. She made sure her leg fur was spotless. All was well in paradise. Until the overnight hours.

Wednesday morning I got up and she couldn’t walk on her bad leg. She pulled it up next to her body and refused to let anyone touch it. She was growly. This was the same behavior she exhibited when she broke it. I called the vet and they suggested I bring her in.

Something had happened overnight. I should have kept her confined in a small room with no jumping spots for at least the first night or two. The vet suggested another week of bandage and a shot of anti-inflammatory juice. She wasn’t happy but neither was I. If an animal gets in the habit of not walking on a leg, it’s hard to get them to walk on it again.

This morning she is walking on all fours with the bandage and seems to be in better spirits. No growling or snapping, both of which are out of character for her. The bandage comes off on Tuesday and I will watch her like a hawk. No cat trees for a few days. However this morning with the bandage she was on top of the world (actually the cat tree) watching the birds.

Cat drama always brings me to a full stop on anything else, so yesterday was not a productive day. Today is better. I’m already dreading doing the taxes which is normal for me in March. Tax drama is better than cat drama.

  5. Well, I’m happy she’s okay. A little extra rest never hurt anyone. Hugs to Morgan. Glad she’s liking the new house. My human put out a birdfeeder but so far, not a single bird! I’m envious.

  6. I wondered what happened to you yesterday – even though I’m a few days behind in Reader, I always look to see what is there and saw you weren’t there on your regular posting days. Poor Morgan – and now she’ll have to go through her routine to make her leg “her own” again. 🙂

  7. Morgan is having a rough time of it with that leg. Not sure if anything is worse than taxes. Thank God, I started early this year and the check is in the mail for this time. I only owed $19, so I figured I would send it fast before they changed their mind. Sending love for Morgan and a get well soon.

    • So jealous! I’m targeting this weekend for taxes. I can already feel the grump flowing through my body! It’s not complicated with the on-line versions and I can transfer my data but still. I hate losing even a day to it.

  9. Good that you took Morgan to get checked out…if only for your peace of mind. I would have done the same thing.
    I do my taxes in March. Not much to them since I retired, but the government tax-speak is not in simple English so it takes a while.

  10. Oh, poor Morgan! How sad for her. It sounds like she’s starting to feel better again though. I’m sure you felt like it was your fault. I do that, too. But you could not have predicted that. Definitely not your fault.

    • With the bandage she is walking normal on 4 legs. I don’t know if I would have waited it out she would have gotten better by herself. Then again, she did have an injection to help. You never know and I always err on the side of caution when it comes to my cats.

  18. It’s not fun having a pet bandaged up and not being able to explain you are doing it to help them. Max broke his toe when we first moved back to Florida. He had to have a cast half way up his leg . . . . for a toe. The only way to not get him to use it. I have the most god-awful photo of his sad face wearing that cast.
    Glad Morgan seems to be feeling better. Keeping a good thought that it was a minor setback. 🤞

  19. Poor Morgan and poor you! I hope one last week of having the bandage for support will help her get back in the habit of walking normally and when it comes off she will be back to her old self. Also hoping your taxes aren’t too traumatic!

  22. Hopefully this leg episode was only a slight hiccup, and Morgan will be back to normal soon! I worked on my tax information yesterday too…everything has been uploaded to the accountant. This should be the last year I need one, and can go back to doing my own taxes from here on out. Feeling very grown up and accomplished today, as a result…LOL!

    • I’ve been doing taxes since I started working as a kid. Somehow when I got married I inherited the job. I occasionally think about getting them done but it’s expensive here even for the relatively simple ones. The on-line services are a godsend.

      • Me too…doing my own taxes since I was a teenager. When I became a landlord of a commercial property I started using an accountant, because my tax situation became more complicated. I sold the property last year and after the 2020 tax year, I should be able to go back to doing my own. It is expensive to use an accountant! (Especially if you can’t expense it for the business.)

  24. Oh gosh, at the start of the post, I was cheering. I’m sorry to hear she’s got the bandage back on, but obviously it’s the best thing for now. When I was a kid, I remember my legs looking shriveled after having casts removed when I kept breaking my feet. I hope Morgan is feeling better soon!

  25. Oh Morgan…..well, she was probably so excited to have her leg back without the dreaded sock on she OVERDID. I have done that myself in fact. Glad she has the bandage back and will be OK though – bless her heart – she (and her Mom!) have been through a lot lately with that leg.

    • It was a tough decision whether to wait out a day or go in to the vet yesterday. When it comes to my cats I err on the side of caution. If she wouldn’t have been so growly and snapping, I may have waited but she’s a very sweet cat and that was definitely out of her norm.

  26. That’s crazy what is going on with her leg. I am hoping the whole issue gets resolved. It must be driving you crazy and you have had enough crazy. As if we haven’t had enough crazy we got our first Moderna shots yesterday and it was a cattle call. We are hoping we didn’t get covid from going to get a covid shot. These be crazy times. My advice… do not move during a pandemic. Do not get a covid shot at a venue that resembles a cattle call. Fingers crossed for Morgan… she must have had a lot zoomies to get out of her system!
