We can blame it on the groundhog. Morgan had her leg x-rayed yesterday and while there is significant healing, the vet thought another two weeks of splint would do her well. I thought I would cry. That poor cat has been so good about it all and there is another two weeks of hobbling along.
They all love her at the vet because she doesn’t fight them. When they take off her old splint, she flexes her toes. They get such a kick out of that.
So this week we found out there will be six more weeks of winter and two more weeks of splint. Overall not a great week.
No week is complete without the lovers.
They are adorable! Oh my. Two more weeks. Iβm so sorry for you both. πΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏ

Besides the splint, the move will be a trauma for them all. Except for Gus who just came in July, the rest have lived here in the same house for years. Oh yeah, and their owner too!

Ah, poor Morgan – the longer it’s wrapped, the better she’ll jump when the time is right and I wonder if she’ll be timid about jumping now, like thinking twice every time before jumping. Makes you wonder. The lovers are perfect for the upcoming holiday.

Morgan is doing small jumps now with the splint so I’m not sure how timid she will be.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Well that is good – I thought she’d be really apprehensive to try any jumping again after the injury. It will be a little while for the cats to explore around the new digs so she’ll be preoccupied with that.

Unless it hurts, she forgets about it. Yesterday she was very active.

She’s definitely on the mend which makes you happy with all the stress swirling around you with the move.

Usually the first day after the re-wrap is the hardest for her. She “broke in” the old bandage now she has to do it again. Counting the days until Wednesday for many reasons. Move will be over and Morgan moves to a sock bandage.

Good thing Fat Tuesday is during the moving period, so you can indulge in some tasty treats to help with the stress of everything. You are counting the days on Morgan’s behalf. π

Morgan’s splint comes off on Wednesday so by then the move is done and so is the splint. Yay!

They are. They are so good together and to think that when Gus joined us, Sasha was the only cat that was put out. She was all growly at him for about a month. Now they are BFFs.

Our dog had an eye removed this past summer and I think what made the whole experience even more heartbreaking was that she didn’t even fight the cone. She accepted every stage of the healing, and some of it was very unpleasant. (I’ll spare the details) Let’s hope the two extra weeks proves very beneficial and not just a nuisance!

As the owner of two cats with one eye, I applaud you. I was fortunate that both cats had the eye removed while they were in the rescue but right before (like weeks) I adopted them. Both do just fine. Morgan doesn’t know she only has one eye and can easily catch a mouse. Gracie’s vision isn’t as good but she still sees well enough. Hugs to your pup and you too. Pets are very resilient. Maybe more so than humans.

Aww. nuts! So sorry about the extended splint time. Hope the time goes quickly for you and sweet Morgan.

She had a rough day yesterday so I took her in to have it rebandaged again and that did the trick. Something wasn’t sitting right on the Thursday wrap. She is much better about it than I am.

I was really devastated. She was doing real well but she hasn’t had a good day today and I’m taking her in for a rewrap tonight.

She is almost normal today (or as close as she gets). The rewrap did her a world of good.

Awww, poor Morgan, but you know in time “This too shall pass.” And Morgan is so good natured she will make the best of 2 more weeks and then she can wiggle her toes whenever she wants to.

I’m going to be upbeat here and say that this will soon be old news, long forgotten. Just another anecdote from the last days in what will soon be your old house.

Aw! Sasha and Gus! Poor Morgan – so sorry to hear she has to spend two more weeks in her splint. But you know she will stay good natured about it π

I sure hope so. She also had her distemper shot which I shouldn’t have one. She wasn’t good last night and she’s moving slow this morning. My old vet did nasal drops which didn’t affect any of my cats. This new vet does shots. I’ve had some negative experiences with the shot and other cats so I’m hoping it’s that.

Yes, we are not moving far although there is an even closer one. I have some feelers out for information on them.

Her bandage covers her entire foot including the toes so the wiggle must feel good to her.

Morgan is such a good kitty! Boss Cat bit the vet tech last time. When they had to do a blood draw, the vet put her in a kevlar bag, with only her head sticking out.

I had a “hard to” cat a while back. She was hard to pill, get in a carrier, etc. She was getting something in the vet’s office and she bit completely through my finger.

I wouldn’t give a cat a bath unless they were full of poop! It’s a sure way to lose a limb.

I expect that Morgan doesn’t know that it’s ever coming off for keeps. This is her “new normal” and she is a very ZEN kitty ~> “accept the what is.”
That said, think how happy she’ll be when it finally comes off for the last time! “What?! No new cast? I’m done? That’s it? . . . . Wait til they get a load of me NOW!” {{Doing a cat happy dance}}

I’ll have to pull up videos so she can learn a new dance.

A long haul for Morgan and for you, Kate. It sounds like you are getting wonderful advice from the Vet. The lovers in your bottom photo resemble a photo of my husband and me…….not overly excited, yet comfortable.π

Poor Gus always photographs as sleepy. I did 6 shots at the same time and this was the best. Sasha on the other hand, always looks wide-eyed and perky!

Sounds like the vet is being cautious and that’s a good thing. A good thing that Morgan has a sweet disposition. If it was Teddy with a splint we would be at the vet every week having the chewed up one replaced.

Originally they wanted her coned for the entire time. Fortunately she licks right above it and will occasionally give the bandage a lick but I don’t think she likes the texture. We are very lucky. The vet says she just sticks her leg out for them to wrap. I’ve had cats that would have taken their arms off.

I never had a cat that wasn’t fine with the vet. They may not have liked being there but they were well behaved. Well, Kitzy did have to let them know who was boss. Dolly was the best; showed off like the diva she was purring and head butting and kissing hands and noses.

I’m glad to hear there’s been significant healing for Morgan. That in itself makes it a pretty good week. I never trust the groundhog. π

Yeah, I don’t believe in rodent prognostications myself. I’m already thinking of campaigning for an early release to the soft bandage next weekend.

maybe that is the point?… ninja-patients are in advance, because no vet is keen to see them more often LOL but we wish your Morgan all the best and we hope the two weeks are over soon and then you can sing the theme of Cast Away…. Happy weekend to you ;O)

Current cats are not too bad at the vet but some of them don’t like getting into the carrier! Morgan is a sweetie and very accommodating.

Hopefully Morgan’s time in a splint will be a memory best forgotten soon! So much going on in your life right now. May the splint be removed and the move be over and the boxes be unpacked as soon as possible!

No one is happy about the extra weeks of splint. I’m going to try to get to the “soft” bandage next weekend. We are moving on the 15-16 so she will go to the new house. It’s bad enough that it’s new and unfamiliar but to have a tree trunk stuck to your leg is no fun.
