Only four today because that’s all I had! No pictures because WordPress wasn’t cooperative.
Coincidence or not – The government is talking about stimulus checks again. For the first one all the money (and more) went to the veterinarian for my cat Mollie. She died anyway. We received a second check and that went to the vet for Morgan’s broken leg. I’m seeing a connection here. Stimulus checks are bad for my cats’ health.
Celebrate! – The beloved husband is scheduled for his first covid vaccine on Tuesday. Woohoo! Fingers crossed they don’t run out. It will take a load off of my mind to know he has some level of resistance as our numbers are high in this area.
Birthday bah humbug! – This week was my birthday. It was the second worst one after my dad’s burial on my birthday many, many years ago. I got a few surprises from friends and best wishes all around but there was nothing special going on except packing boxes. I was grateful nothing bad happened that day! Maybe that was the best gift of all.
Emotional roller coasters – We are in the house sale period where the buyers can still back out without too much consequence. Our realtor has assured us that they are very excited about the house but I still have a niggling thing going on in the back of my brain. I will be grateful when that’s all over and it’s clear sailing.
Happy belated birthday! Hope things improve for you quickly.

Sorry to hear about Mollie and Morgan. I’ve fallen behind on reading blogs and am trying to catch up. Seems you have had a lot going on.

Last year was dreadful. Human and feline health issues (big ones), bought a house (who does that in a pandemic) and sold a house (ditto). Now I’m trying to pack or discard 20 years worth of living here and it’s not going well.

Good luck. I thought it was a strange time to move, but the deed is done. I try to throw stuff away periodically, but it seems to expand on its own.

I hope the covid vaccine goes off without a hitch and the same for the next one.

I hope your husband’s vaccine went off as scheduled. They cancelled 1,400 vaccine appointments here and messed up the booster shots by sending the Moderna vaccine where people had the Pfizer vaccine. We’re all messed up here. I hope the stimulus checks are not equated with your cats as we might just get another one. Happy belated birthday and good luck with putting a final bow on the house sale.

It went well here. There wasn’t a long wait and he already has his date for the second shot. Today out state opened up for everyone over 65 so I’m eligible. It took my husband almost 5 days to get through on the scheduling line so I expect it will be at least that bad or worse for me but I can start trying.

That’s good – did they ensure your husband he gets the second shot? My friend lives in New York and said they automatically reserve the second follow-up shot when you get the first one. That is good as they messed up here plus 12,000 vaccines were mishandled and have to be trashed. We do not have our ducks in a row here in Michigan and the Governor is angry about it.

They make the second appointment when he got the first shot. The have widened the criterial to over 65. I think they ran out of vaccines as the appointment line has a message that doesn’t allow you to make an appointment.

Well that’s no good – we have had two major issues with our vaccine here in Michigan. Hopefully things will get better with distribution. I heard Dr. Fauci say that if a big percentage of people get the vaccine, Fall will be near normal. I don’t know if I agree. (Always the pessimist I guess.)

I’m hoping that if I can get the vaccine, I’ll feel better about it whether it’s normal or not.

It depends on how many anti-vaxxers you encounter in your day-to-day activities. We are opening up restaurants (25% dining inside) on February 1st and it was recommended we really continue carryout – this was just for the businesses who were angry and many have closed. Two women at the Park were speaking with me last week – one said “I don’t trust the vaccine – I will never take it.” She is 66. The other woman is 49 and she says “there are small computer chips ground up in the vaccine so the government can track you, similar to a chipped pet.” I just looked at both of them and said “I’m getting my shot when I can ensure they will reserve the follow-up shot.” We are a long way from that as we struggle to get vaccines delivered to Michigan.

Ground up computer chips? How exactly would that work? There are some crazies out there. Anyone tracking me would find me boring.

I had two of these anti-vaxxers come up to me at the same time – crazy … the first one asked if I had it yet as her sister is a nurse and only believes in holistic medicine (and you’re a nurse … hope the patients don’t get wind of that … just sayin’). Yes, the other said that … she said “I just had my new kitten spayed yesterday and had her chipped … that’s exactly what’s in the vaccine only ground up – you’ll find out one day and remember I said something!” I was glad to get away from both of them. I am getting the shot as soon as I know they have enough and I can get the second follow-up shot. I am not 65 until April. They are giving them at my grocery store and I got an e-mail today to register for it. I had a shingles shot there before I went to Obamacare. My friend/neighbor had shingles back in 2014 and she had it in her scalp and her eye – she never had recovered fully with her eye and couldn’t see properly. She had a lot of stress. I wanted to be proactive – I know it was not contagious, but asked for a prescription from my allergist as I was not old enough to have the shot as I was not 60 years old yet. So I had to pay for it myself, not thru insurance.

Here’s hoping you get to spend any future stimulus checks on something fun, like something for your new house! Sorry it wasn’t a fun birthday at all – here’s hoping the next one is better. Also, hope your DH can get his vaccine! Are you in line to get one as well?

Somehow I don’t have the same faith you do about the checks. He’s getting the vaccine as I’m typing so all is good there. I am in the next group. I was too young for the current one and I’m not a health worker.

The stimulus checks are an irritation to me. The same people have gotten them both times. For the majority of the people I know that got them, they are retired with the exact same incomes as if covid didn’t exist. yet I know some young people who are REALLY struggling who did not get either one! Fingers crossed for the house going through!

You are right. We did not have our income stream stopped so we do not need the stimulus checks. They should have been targeted for the unemployed or seriously affected.

The in limbo between contract and closing is always nerve wracking – but have a feeling you’re going to be fine.
Sold house, vaccine, cat on mend – it’s all looking up. (Now would be a great time for a fairy godmother to walk in and wave wand to totally pack everything…we can wish….I wished for a pony, but nothing..so there’s bound to be a free without there and I’ll gladly send it your way)
Happy birthday late – and a nothing day is sometimes the bestest day!

Like you, I’ve never liked my early-January birthday (too close to Christmas and too cold for pool parties) but in 2020, I was secretly happy that I got to celebrate my birthday before the Covid restrictions. Silly me, it never occurred to me that my 2021 birthday would be impacted. Good to know that your husband is getting his first vaccination! We still haven’t heard about ours but our fingers are crossed.

Today was a good day for Morgan. I let her out of the confinement room this afternoon. She sniffed everything and took a nap in one of her favorite spots on the bed. She’s walking much better even with the splint. She’ll go back in the room for dinner and overnight but she was getting bored. This morning she rearranged all the cat beds in her room.

Happy belated birthday Kate. Glad you had some indirect ‘help’with vet bills. No stimilus checks here in the UK and the Eat Out to Help Out voucher scheme didn’t really take off, not that we would have wanted to be in places crowded with people anyway ,it was such a contradiction!
Fingers crossed all is plain sailing from here on in. Take care and keep safe. Glad Hubby is having his first shot next week.

Happy Birthday, Kate! It was my granddaughter’s 2nd birthday yesterday, and it is my mother’s 90th birthday today.
That’s such awesome news about your husband receiving his vaccine this week. Our vaccine supply in Canada (as in many other places) is currently delayed. My husband and I have no idea when to expect ours. Even our doctors say they have no clue about this.
Good luck with your move ahead. Tell those niggly feelings to be gone and that they have no power here.
BTW – our stimulus cheque (plus more) went to a new hot water tank. That was no fun at all!

Very exciting about the Beloved’s vaccine shot appointment. Where will he be going for it? Is it at one of those drive-thru places? Sorry about your birthday, but a year from now you’ll be in your new place, probably going to a restaurant, and definitely not wearing a mask. – Marty

The only way there is through. That’s what my mom would tell me when I would enumerate all the things that “might” go wrong. It was a reminder that it’s so easy for me to freeze up on the mights and not pursue the goal. When I read your worry about the sale falling through, her words popped into my mind. I needed that advice today, so I’m glad you shared.

That’s exactly what I’ve been saying for months. The frustrating part is that every time I check something off, something new and totally unrelated pops up. We have gotten through two months of chaos so far so the end is in sight.

Happy birthday! We may not like the number of years around the planet that is associated to these days, but it definitely beats the alternative!
Glad your husband has an appointment for the vaccine. I’m in the ‘queue’ but our state lost nearly 500 doses after power outages/generator malfunctions occurred this week. I think it’s going to push the line back further. With limits doses in the pipeline anyway, malfunctions like these sure aren’t helpful but not much I can do about about that except keep my fingers crossed (after frequently washing, wearing my mask and staying in hibernation) until more quantities get distributed. Good luck staying in queue and with the process of finalizing the sale of the house!

Our stimulus checks this time went to the vet too. Both Bodhi’s eye surgeries and then Leelu’s x-rays. Came to more than the stimulus checks but it helped. I hope the house closes sooner than later. Being in that in-between space is nerve-raking.
