Cats always stretch after they are in a position for a while. They pull and adjust every joint and muscle in their body. It’s something we should do too. They have their own form of yoga!
This is an old photo of Mollie practicing the downward dog position. She has it down pat.
Gracie’s favorite pose involves lateral stretching, preferably for a catnip bag.
Gracie: Here I am doing my yoga. Morgan is sniffing my tail. I must smell good. That’s a catnip bag by my paw.
Hazel doesn’t exactly do yoga. She doesn’t exactly exercise. Except for her paws and her jaws.
Here is Hazel kneading my briefcase.
Morgan is very svelte and in great shape so she is taking the day off.

Cats and toddlers seem well suited to those yoga poses, Kate. Arching like a cat is a very good spinal movement utilized in yoga. Maybe yoga is the reason cats maintain their fixability. They set a good example!

They are all cute in any pose, but they sure look comfy. I have read before we should stretch before any exercise, even walking. One day I will.

I know I am getting older because getting out of the car is just not as easy as a few years ago. I have to boost myself to get out … and a 1/2 hour drive makes me stiff and I really feel it when I go to get up.

I need more breaks when taking longer trips but even a half hour requires some stretching afterward.

I wake up some morning and it takes me awhile to get limber. I should do stretches then and there. I actually attribute this to not only getting older, but all the sitting I do during the day and evening. I have looked into a standing desk, not for during the day, but more for at night. I live in a small house and not sure exactly where to put it though. And my plug situation is not so great; when they put the electrical outlets in this house, they did not use their noggin. Last time at the allergist, the receptionist had a Vivio standing desk and said she liked it and adapted to it fairly quickly.

I worked with a guy who had a unique desk chair. You knelt on it. It relieved his back pain but it’s also not sitting.

I have heard of those but never seen one. Then there are the large ball-type seat and I remember Anne Mehrling had one and it deflated on her. I’d likely have that happen and fall on the floor!

If my granddaughter was at the screen I know she would agree with me when I say “awww cute kitties!” but then she would try her best to get them off the laptop screen to hold them. She is two years old and loves to follow my cat around telling him “come here kitty” but you can imagine how she pronounces his name it doesn’t always come out Pitch.
Pitch celebrated his fourth birthday on the 12th of this month. His Highness had a salmon and tuna dinner and didn’t leave on morsel for later. 😀
I have a friend who lives on the NC coast. She posted an announcement on Facebook that her and her family are safe. My baby brother will be among the helpers being sent from Kansas City area.

His full name is Pitch Black lol. I let my 6 year old hep name him and we had just seen the movie Rise of the Guardians. But he answered to it right off.

Cats do ballet, gymnastics, and yoga with such confidence and style…they probably are brought in to coach Olympic hopefuls

They are so flexible. So is my big dog. He can do a full twist where his back paws and hindquarters are flat on the floor and his head is turned on its side, cheek flat against the floor. So weird, but I guess it’s the joys of the long torso.

Sometimes Morgan jumps up on the bed when it’s time for me to get up. I am convinced he wants to make sure I stretch. She likes to take care of the person who opens cans. 🙂

All I get are pictures of blurred cat tails disappearing as soon as they spot me. Although I’ve got a great collection of pictures of cats SLEEPING, of course, on every surface of my house.

That briefcase had so much cat hair that it was embarrassing (almost) to take it to work! They all loved the canvas. They slept on it, kneaded it and scratched it.

We have a duffle bag that is so hairy even after miles of sticky lint roller tape that the cleaners even recoiled from it. Sigh. (RC says hair possession of any object is 9/10th of the law)

Except for early pictures, almost everything I get of Morgan is sleeping. She is a very active cat but as soon as I get the camera, she goes into the sleep mode. Hoping the downgrade to cat 1 will help lessen the winds for you. Hugs.

Unfortunately we’re on the wrong side of the storm where there is a biggest risk of tornadoes, heavy rain and strong wind. The problem is it’s crawling! We need to speed her up! xo
